The purpose of this study is to analyze researchers' information use behaviors in the field of business administration in order to provide library services based on user information needs. The methods of this study targeted the members of K Society in the business administration field, and employed user survey using a web-based questionnaire. A total of 202 users answered the questionnaire. The questionnaire focused on items such as by age and status, general information use, electronic resources use, SNS and mobile services information use, library and information center use, and specialized business administration library use. The results of this study suggested improving several library services.

The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development is propelling the establishment project of IBSLIS, Internet-based School library Information System for prepares a foundation of resource sharing and inter-school library loan, to improvement of DB construction's efficiency and to reduces a maintenance's burden of local information system. There is a necessity which it will evaluate demonstrative operating IBSLIS system for maximize to educational effect and to establish efficiently. The acquisition of foreign government documents by exchange or gift is problematic in the electronic government era because the pattern of distributing system is changed. The alternatives for the collection development are developing the meta-site and establishing the subject gateways for the foreign government information as the resource discovery tools. The anchor and link functions of the AltaVista are used to evaluate a meta-site. The Scout Project Isaac is suggested as the model of interoperating resource discovery services for the geographically distributed metadata databases.

The Korean oldbooks that represent the spiritual product of the ancestors in the form of physical shape are absolute need for retrieval and new evaluation through research and discovery. To earn Korean oldbooks that have these values, catalogue of Korean oldbooks and annotation book were used as secondery materials. But since there haven't been publications of Korean oldbook catalogue that can be used as Korean oldbook search engine, Korean oldbooks that has same title was valued differently by the different authors and defined differently according to bibliographic study. And there even has been a case when, even though there is same edition it was consider the only one. Therefor it can cause a lot of mistakes when you can't over look totally. So you can expert better results in structuring DB with computer then publicized catalogue of Korean oldbooks. But at this present time, since all of the DB that have been structured are not unified as one system and operated separately in their organizations, there has been a problem like creating different bibliographic information for same Korean oldbooks. In this study, as one of the solution to the problems of searching Korean oldbooks, we are making a plan to develop the unified retrieval system of Korean oldbooks using hypertext system. And with these finding, we are suggesting the further way of developing retrieval system of Korean oldbooks.

The KERIS Union Catalog is the largest bibliographic database in Korea. It has over 5.7 million bibliographic records and at present 330 university libraries are participating in shared cataloging services. The database, however, includes various errors and a large number of duplicate data because separate databases from many university libraries were merged without proper quality control in a short period. This study intends to find error data types by analyzing dissertation bibliographic data. The results show that error data are mainly caused by input errors, and the mistakes in using MARC formats and cataloging rules.

Recently, the service of the technical information(journals, proceedings) which are taken in from abroad and provided has some difficulties to make users acquire the information with ease because the bibliographic information, article and document delivery service are not linked to the related organizations. In this paper we propose to supply a high-degree retrieval service by the systematic and unitary DB construction and management and to make a nation-wide efficient management and cooperation system of the foreign technical information from abroad as building up the assigning a part of the location guide and document delivery service and cooperation system of the bibliographic information from the foreign technical resources.

The purpose of this study presents a model of the integrated online library service with LMS (Learning Management System). The new library service is called 'Library on Blackboard' which was developed and implemented by Murray State University Libraries in Murray, Kentucky, USA. This user-centered service with applied information technology has the potential to enhance the quality of the library performance in university libraries. The introduction of the Learning Management System in South Korea has a potential to enhance the education environment and promote new library services. With the emergence of new information technologies and growing popularity in online classes and distance education programs, the importance and usage of Learning Management Systems in higher education has increased.

The purpose of this research is to enhance document recognition system which is essential for developing full-text retrieval system of the document image data stored in the digital library of a public institution. To achieve this purpose, the main tasks of this research are: 1) analyzing the document image data and then developing its image preprocessing technology and document structure analysis one, 2) building its specialized knowledge base consisting of document layout and property, character model and word dictionary, respectively. In addition, developing the management tool of this knowledge base, the document recognition system is able to handle the various types of the document image data. Currently, we developed the prototype system of document recognition which is combined with the specialized knowledge base and the library of document structure analysis, respectively, adapted for the document image data housed in National Archives of Korea. With the results of this research, we plan to build up the test-bed and estimate the performance of document recognition system to maximize the utilization of full-text retrieval system.

OAK(Open Access Korea) is a national repository project to support free access to Korea's open access knowledge information. However various problems and limitations are recognized when organizing and sharing metadata with OAK-IR system. This study aims to suggest a modified metadata standard to improve the quality of OAK metadata. To the end, this study analyzed all metadata elements used by OAK participating organizations and compared the metadata with the metadata of other typical repository systems. In details, metadata organized in 17 OAK participating organizations were analyzed with their metadata specifications, input data examples, and practitioner interviews. And a case study on DSpace, EPrints, BEPress, ETD-db, dCollection was conducted. The final modified OAK metadata elements were suggested through group discussion and coordination by the practitioners of OAK participating organizations, OAK supervisors, and the developers of OAK-IR system.

This paper is a record of the transitioning of the Journal of Korean Society of Archives and Records Management to open access. To understand this process, this paper explains the meaning of the conflict over the copyright among commercial journal aggregators, scholarly societies and public sector aggregators. In addition, this paper explains the declarations for open access transition in scholarly societies in the fields of library and information science and other humanities & social sciences in Korea. This paper records the practices and problems that the scholarly society as a publisher has faced in related to securing the journal publication cost, expanding the channels of distribution, and reforming the regulation of the journal. This paper also attempts to understand this transition process as making a knowledge commons.
