Recently, there have been a number of researchers in the field of education who are actively exploring the educational applications of Blockchain technology, even though it is still in its infancy. Some researchers have been investigating its application in educational administration to issue academic credentials' or maintain student records with distributed ledger, which is the basis of Blockchain technology. Whereas, others have been examining its application in redesigning learning systems that are being used in various contexts, including online learning and lifelong education. In that vein, this paper aims to discuss a liberal arts education system which will be supported by Blockchain-based 'smart contracts'. At present, active efforts are being made to innovate liberal arts education in Korea, centered around government-funded university innovation projects and there have been reports of great achievements. However, if the Blockchain technology is applied to innovating the liberal arts education, we will innovate not only the liberal arts education but also university education as a whole. In this paper, there are suggestions on how to build a learner-centered educational environment where a liberal arts education system is supported by Blockchain-based smart contracts. First of all, the current innovation in liberal arts education and its limitations are discussed, followed by ways in which Blockchain-based smart contracts can reframe the liberal arts education system. Last but not least, the paper addresses implications of the Blockchain technology applications in liberal arts education, along with their future prospects.

This study deals with how liberal education in engineering could be positioned properly in an era of convergence. Disciplines of Engineering has long been focusing on engineer as a 'technical profession' and the liberal education as an accessory to major study has been left behind. Under this understanding, the topic of 'convergence' in the 21th century engineering is hardly to find its way to the establishment into engineering education. This study suggests a direction for the reform of liberal education in engineering, which is expected to overcome the distinction between professional and non-professional aligned with major education and liberal one. For the reform, introducing and developing contents and methodologies considering convergence would open the door of engineering education to interdisciplinary study and to 'open-profession'. Next, the problem solving model in education will be very effective for learners to define the problem, to utilize various knowledges and to lead to meaningful solution. Lastly, we emphasize the changing context of liberal education and it is necessary to integrate 'technology literacy' into liberal education in relation to major study.

The purpose of this study is proposing implications toward liberal arts Informatics education at universities in Korea by analyzing Japan's liberal arts Informatics curriculum standards. For this aim, the changes of the two standards have been compared focusing on a variety of researches related to J07-GE and J17-GE. In order to examine the scope and degree of Informatics knowledge reflecting J17-GE, which is a revised version, the analysis has been conducted through the relationship between curriculum standards regarding CS. As a result of the analysis, it has been identified that principles and knowledge of informatics can nurture competency of university students as universal liberal arts through J07-GE and J17-GE based on Computational thinking viewpoint and Japanese Informatics studies definition. Thus, when it comes to developing curriculum, discussion of not only knowledge system but also number of classes and methods have to be taken into account. This study is meaningful in the sense that it proposed directions for advancing university liberal arts Informatics education and developing liberal arts Informatics curriculum standards.

In this paper, we propose efficient management method of liberal education for improving computer literacy. We analyzed the actual conditions and factors affecting education and reflected the analysis results in education. The subject of the study is 'Practice Excel', and tested achievement based on computer literacy. In order to evaluate objectively, we conducted CBT(Computer Based Test) based on Computer Specialist in Spreadsheet & Database Level-2. Analysis of the questionnaire included the use of the popular statistical program, IBM SPSS 24 trial, and frequency, ANOVA, t-test, crossover analysis, and correlation. Evaluation results, An important factor influencing educational performance was active participation. It also proved to be very helpful for understanding excel functions & expression.

The purpose of this study is to explore the design direction of artificial intelligence convergence liberal arts subjects based on flip learning and maker education through analysis of learner needs in a non-face-to-face classroom environment caused by COVID-19. To this end, we analyzed the priorities of subject content elements by using the Borich needs assessment and The Locus for Focus model along with students' perceptions of flip learning for students who took and did not take maker education-based liberal arts courses. Based on this, it was used as basic data for designing the curriculum. The study results are as follows. First, the content elements of the artificial intelligence liberal arts curriculum based on maker education consisted of a total of 9 areas and were designed as a class using flip learning. Second, the areas with the highest demand for education are 'Artificial Intelligence Theory', 'Artificial Intelligence Programming Practice', 'Physical Computing Theory', 'Physical Computing Practice', followed by 'Convergence Project', '3D Printing Theory', '3D Printing practice' was decided. Third, most of the questionnaires regarding the application of flip learning in maker education-based artificial intelligence liberal arts subjects showed positive responses regardless of whether they took the course, and the satisfaction of the students was very high. Based on this, an artificial intelligence-based convergence liberal arts curriculum using flip learning and maker education was designed. This is meaningful in that it provides an opportunity to cultivate artificial intelligence literacy for college students by preparing the foundation for artificial intelligence convergence education in liberal arts education by reflecting the needs of students.

Liberal education in colleges and universities embrace the concept of general education to enhance individual's morality, intelligence and identity. In consideration of physical education aim to develop cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains as a whole person education, liberal education and general physical education share the same values and objectives. Suppose physical education and liberal education shared same initial values, general physical education should take possession of the core means to achieve liberal education goals. To this end, it is necessary to inspect the actual statement of general physical education curriculum carefully, to find potential problems and prevent them in advance, and also explore future directions. In the current investigation, researchers found potential problems through identifying operation status of general physical education in 10 national universities. In addition, researcher provided future directions of general physical education in college and university including 'take possession of core means for liberal education', 'making diverse general physical education curriculum', 'move away from physical skill-centered education', 'general physical education as a whole body education' and 'increase opportunity of general physical education'.

In spite of the rapid change of the technology, the university education cannot escape from the traditional form of classroom teaching. University education is assessed through listening the same content of lecture, completing the same assignment and test at the same time, same place. To prepare for the 4th industrial revolution, it is investigated to reorganize the curriculum(32.5%), strengthen the lifelong education(21.4%), expand the compulsory education(17.6%), expand the innovation school(13.7%), expand the educational finance(10.4%) as the field of education which need to be strengthen. The change of the education is essential to prepare for the 4th industrial revolution which creativity, collaboration, fusion, problem solving are the core ability. In this thesis, it is to be compared that the subjects opened in liberal arts of domestic and overseas university in this 4th industrial revolution and Basic Liberal Art Education Curriculum is promoted for the smooth management for preparing the future and taking the action to the change. Stereotyped and inflexible frame should be changed to 'Structure', 'Recognition', 'Attitude' for making the base of 'Diversity', 'Personalization', 'Flexibility' which are needed to uplift 'Imagination', 'Creativity' for education of the future and the new era.

This paper suggests that the meaning and the direction of character education should be understood and approached from a point of view which human formation is regarded as the essence of education. The best way of approach to the character education with this point of view could start from the teachers' character, because teachers are key actors for character formation of students. This study therefore places strong emphasis on the importance of teachers' character and suggesting liberal education, as a key solution, its aim is raising and developing the whole human being. The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of liberal teacher education. With this purpose of study, the author argues the moral dimension of teaching and the importance of the teachers' role as a character builder in ch.II. In ch.III, the present state of teachers' character education is examined and is argued the necessity of liberal perspective for teacher education to stress the character formation of teachers. The liberal teacher education means that the teacher education is integrated into the quality of liberal education which emphasizes the whole human formation, transformation of personality and critical reflection for human formation. The ch. IV contains exploration of the possibility of liberal teacher education by discussing the compatibility between liberal education and vocational education. Furthermore, it covers how teacher education can reflect the quality of liberal education on the aim of teaching, contents and methods of teacher education concretely.

The purpose of this paper is to introduce Harvard's general education in order to provide in sights into problem-solving in Korean higher education. To do this, this paper explored the historical tradition of liberal education and the education system of Harvard University. 1. The education of Harvard University is based on liberal education which is a model integrated knowledge and conduct. 2. The education System of Harvard University is divided into two categories: undergraduate education characterized as 'liberalize' and graduate education as 'deliberalize'. It is believed that the above characteristics of Harvard University's education system can provide insights into the future reform of Koran higher education.

Education emphasizes problem-solving skills based on convergent thinking power in an era of rising uncertainty and rapid progress. This paper proactively designed e-Learning team teaching convergence liberal arts courses for prospective teachers by these social needs. It analyzed the empirical effects on the operation of the subjects to foster future talent who can converge and apply knowledge in various fields. The curriculum consisted of professors of mathematics, practical Arts, computer, and education, and was operated to convey convergent knowledge of information technology and humanities, and consisted of 15 liberal arts courses at J University. Besides, textbooks and teaching materials were also developed by the faculty. As a result of the primary research, prospective teachers who took the course generally showed high satisfaction with the class, especially for the faculty. The students' overall convergent thinking ability has increased to a statistically significant level (p<.01), and the students' major has been found to be irrelevant. On the other hand, it can be seen that communication, content convergence, and caring factors, excluding creativity factor, have all risen to a significant level.
