The immunological mechanism of the responses to ultraviolet (UV) B radiation in mouse models were investigated by the suppression of contact hypersensitivity (CHS) and delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH), and susceptibility to infection. However, there are some differences in immune suppression according to the different models as well as the irradiation protocols. Therefore, this review focused on the differences in the suppressive effects on CHS and DTH, and susceptibility to infection in relation to the different in vivo models. Recent advances in cytokine knockout mice experiments have the reexamination of the role of the critical cytokines in UVB-induced immune suppression, which was investigated previously by blocking antibodies. The characteristics of the suppressor cells responsible for UVB-induced tolerance were determined. The subcellular mechanism of UVB-induced immune suppression was also explained by the induction of apoptotic cells through the Fas and Fas-ligand interaction. The phagocytosis of the apoptotic cells is believed to induce the production of the immune suppressive cytokine like interleukin-10 by macrophages. Therefore, the therapeutic UVB response to a skin disease, such as psoriasis, by the depletion of infiltrating T cells could be considered in the extension line of apoptosis and immune suppression.

Generally, the contribution of curbs and median strip is not considered carefully in analysing and designing the girder bridges. There being curbs, the load given on interior girder relatively reduced and on exterior girder increased. Curbs and median strip reduce the load distribution factor by distributing the load given on girder fairly, In this paper, the Influence of curbs and median strip in wheel distribution through parameter study and lateral distribution test of PSC girder bridge was investigated. Finite-element analysis was performed with parameterizing the flexural rigidity of the girder, span length, girder spacing, median strip, curbs. The influence of curbs and median strip would increase with lowering rigidity of girder. In addition, curbs lower the load distribution factor of exterior and interior girders.

The determination of fungi in various kind of rice-cakes have been carried out in order to information of the toxigenic fungi in Korean rice-cakes. The results as follows: 1. Predominant genera of fungi in most rice-cakes were Pencillium sp.(32.2%) and Aspergillus sp.(30.1%). 2. Of the 63 various rice-cakes, 143 strains of fungi were isolated and 135 strains were possible to identify into 9 genera. 3. Artemisia asiatics and some kind of colouring matters have been an antifungal activity.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to address a case of a Parkinson's disease with anorexia and nausea. Methods: A patient diagnosed with Parkinson's disease with anorexia and nausea was treated with Korean medicine therapies including herbal medication (Hyangsayukgunja-tang), acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, and moxibustion for 7days. To evaluate the therapeutic effect, we used a visual analogue scale(VAS). Results: After the treatment, the VAS score for anorexia and nausea had decreased. Conclusion: These results suggested that Korean medicine therapies with Hyangsayukgunja-tang have a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
