  • Using the level set and the meshfree methods, we develop a topological shape optimization method applied to linear elasticity problems. Design gradients are computed using an efficient adjoint design sensitivity analysis(DSA) method. The boundaries are represented by an implicit moving boundary(IMB) embedded in the level set function obtainable from the "Hamilton-Jacobi type" equation with the "Up-wind scheme". Then, using the implicit function, explicit boundaries are generated to obtain the response and sensitivity of the structures. Global nodal shape function derived on a basis of the reproducing kernel(RK) method is employed to discretize the displacement field in the governing continuum equation. Thus, the material points can be located everywhere in the continuum domain, which enables to generate the explicit boundaries and leads to a precise design result. The developed method defines a Lagrangian functional for the constrained optimization. It minimizes the compliance, satisfying the constraint of allowable volume through the variations of boundary. During the optimization, the velocity to integrate the Hamilton-Jacobi equation is obtained from the optimality condition for the Lagrangian functional. Compared with the conventional shape optimization method, the developed one can easily represent the topological shape variations.

  • In the NLP field, the pre-training model BERT launched by the Google team in 2018 has shown amazing results in various tasks in the NLP field. Subsequently, many variant models have been derived based on the original BERT, such as RoBERTa, ERNIEBERT and so on. In this paper, the WWMBERT (Whole Word Masking BERT) model suitable for Chinese text tasks was used as the baseline model of our experiment. The experiment is mainly for "Text-level Chinese text classification tasks" are improved, which mainly combines Tapt (Task-Adaptive Pretraining) and "Multi-Sample Dropout method" to improve the model, and compare the experimental results, experimental data sets and model scoring standards Both are consistent with the official WWMBERT model using Accuracy as the scoring standard. The official WWMBERT model uses the maximum and average values of multiple experimental results as the experimental scores. The development set was 97.70% (97.50%) on the "text-level Chinese text classification task". and 97.70% (97.50%) of the test set. After comparing the results of the experiments in this paper, the development set increased by 0.35% (0.5%) and the test set increased by 0.31% (0.48%). The original baseline model has been significantly improved.

  • Discontinuous solutions or interfaces are common in nature, for examples, shock waves or material interfaces. However, their numerical computation is difficult by the feature of discontinuities. In this paper, we summarize the numerical approaches for discontinuities and interfaces appearing mostly in the system of hyperbolic conservation laws, and explain various numerical methods for them. We explain two numerical approaches to handle discontinuities in the solution: shock capturing and shock tracking, and illustrate their underlying algorithms and mathematical problems. The front tracking method is explained in details and the level set method is outlined briefly. The several applications of front tracking are illustrated, and the research issues in this field are discussed.

  • In this work, we discuss segmentation algorithms based on the level set method that incorporates shape prior knowledge. Fundamental segmentation models fail to segment desirable objects from a background when the objects are occluded by others or missing parts of their whole. To overcome these difficulties, we incorporate shape prior knowledge into a new segmentation energy that, uses global and local image information to construct the energy functional. This method improves upon other methods found in the literature and segments images with intensity inhomogeneity, even when images have missing or misleading information due to occlusions, noise, or low-contrast. We consider the case when the shape prior is placed exactly at the locations of the desired objects and the case when the shape prior is placed at arbitrary locations. We test our methods on various images and compare them to other existing methods. Experimental results show that our methods are not only accurate and computationally efficient, but faster than existing methods as well.

  • In this paper, an effective method for the minimization of two-level Reed-muller expressions by cube selection whcih considers functional complexity is presented. In contrast to the previous methods which use Xlinking operations to join two cubes for minimizatio, the cube selection method tries to select cubes one at a time until they cover the ON-set of the given function. This method works for most benchmark circuits, but for parity-type functions it shows power performance. To solve this problem, a cost function which computes the functional complexity instead of only the size of ON-set of the function is used. Therefore the optimization is performed considering how the trun minterms are grouped together so that they can be realized by only a small number of cubes. In other words, it considers how the function is changed and how the change affects the next optimization step. Experimental results shows better performance in many cases including parity-type functions compared to pervious results.

  • Almost ship monitoring systems are event driven alarm system which warn only when the measurement value is over or under set point. These kinds of system cannot warn until signal is growing to abnormal state that the signal is over or under the set point. therefore cannot play a role for preventive maintenance system. This paper proposes fault diagnosis method which is able to diagnose and forecast the fault from present operating condition by analyzing monitored signals with present ship monitoring system without any additional sensors. By analyzing the data with high correlation coefficient(CC), correlation level of interactive data can be defined. Knowledge base of abnormal detection can be built by referring level of CC(Fault Detection CC. FDCC) to detect abnormal data among monitored data from monitoring system and knowledge base of diagnosis built by referring CC among interactive data for related machine each other to diagnose fault part.

  • In the present study, two-dimensional numerical investigation of flow past a square cylinder beneath the free surface has been performed to identify the effects of presence of the free surface. An immersed boundary method was adopted for implementation of the cylinder cross-section in a Cartesian grid system. Also, a level-set method was used to capture the interface of two fluids. To prevent transition to three-dimensional flow, Reynolds number chosen for this simulation was 150. The cases for Froude number 0.2 and gap ratio(h/D) between 0.25 and 5.00 were examined. At the specific Reynolds number, we study the effects of gap ratio on flow characteristics around a square cylinder by computing flow fields, force coefficients and Strouhal number.

  • This paper reports an effort to develop 3D tooth visualization system from CT sequence images as a part of the non-destructive evaluation suitable for the simulation of endodontics, orthodontics and other dental treatments. We focus on the segmentation and visualization for the individual tooth. In dental CT images teeth are touching the adjacent teeth or surrounded by the alveolar bones with similar intensity. We propose an improved level set method with shape prior to separate a tooth from other teeth as well as the alveolar bones. Reconstructed 3D model of individual tooth based on the segmentation results indicates that our technique is a very conducive tool for tooth visualization, evaluation and diagnosis. Some comparative visualization results validate the non-destructive function of our method.
