Accidents involving students are an important cause of death and disability. They also have enormous financial implications. In order to prevent childhood accidents. research and education for safety should be strengthened. The purpose of this study was to determine how often lower grade elementary students have accidents and what factors affect the accident rate. The study population consisted of 676 students who were in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of twelve elementary schools located in Kun Wi Gun. The questionnaires were distributed to all of the 2nd to 4th grade student in the Kun Wi Gun to be completed by their parents about all the accidents which happened last one year and collected during the period of March 19, to March 30, 2001. The data were analyzed by using SPSS WIN 10.0 statistical package. The results of the study are as follow: 1. Among 676 students. 270 students had 540 accidental injuries during the study period. 2. The month, the day and the time with the highest accident rate were April. Monday. and between 1 and 4 p. m. each. 3. In the analysis of the location where the injury took place, the most frequent place was on school, around their homes and. then inside the home. 4. Most of accidents were caused by carelessness on the part of the students and the most frequent type of injury was an abrasion. 5. Students most injured part of the body was their legs. 6. They were treated at home most often and usually emergency treatment was performed by family members with disinfectant as first aid measure. Cost of the treatment of the accident ranged from 10.000 to 30,000 won in most cases. 7. Students' personality. type of family composition. mother's age and parents' education level were statistically significant. As a conclusion. 1st to 3rd grade rural elementary students need their assessment for accident involving condition. This study gave a very useful and important data to prepare accident prevention teaching program and to prepare accident prevention strategies.

Attracting advanced foreign enterprises into the less-developed regions has gained increasing importance as a regional development strategy in Korea. This study critically examines the foreign-direct investment-led regional development strategy of Wales, United Kingdom. Despite a high FDI inflow in manufacturing, the Welsh regional economy has suffered from specialization in low-skilled assembly with limited R&D activities, insufficient linkage with local domestic suppliers, and violent fluctuation in local employment in response to changes within the global business environment. This tendency shows that the foreign-invested companies have neither locally embedded themselves enough nor created the external agglomeration economies in the region. At the same time, the Welsh local government's excessive dependence on financial incentives packages to induce multinationals, rather than effort to create regional innovative capacity, has resulted in a sizable fiscal loss, an abused local planning process, and subordination of the local government's major administrative decision-making on foreign investors. The Welsh FDI case suggests that an effective FDI attraction policy should include inter-regional cooperation and coordination in the inward investment attraction procedure, a comprehensive land use planning process, and state-level concrete governance on FDI.
In the present study, the liquefaction potential in the area of the Incheon international airport was assessed by applying the data of both standard penetration tests and laboratory tests to the modified Seed & Idriss method. The analysis was performed against the non-plastic silty soil layer and silty sand soil layer existing within the depth of 20m and under the ground water level, having the standard penetration value(N) of below 20. Also, each set of data was mapped using the GIS(Geographic Information System) and the safety factor against the liquefaction potential ($FS_{liquefaction}$) was obtained by overlapping those layers. Throughout the analysis, it was found that there exists a potential hazard zone for the liquefaction, showing partially that the safety factor against the liquefaction potential is 1.0 to 1.5 below the standard safety factor criterion. It is further thought to be necessary that the liquefaction potential for the corresponding hazard zone be additionally assessed in detail.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data that can be used in a reasonable assessment of the learning outcomes of STEAM. It presented a learning outcome evaluation method, relative weights of key competencies standard that a learner should cultivate. For this study, a pairwise comparison questionnaire about the key competencies was conducted on the STEAM professionals, and AHP was applied to analyze the priority of main factors of key competencies. The results of this study are as follows. First, the importance of capabilities of convergence accomplishment and capabilities of convergent cognition, in the first layer of key competencies, were 39.4% and 36.8%, respectively. In the education evaluation of the STEAM, capabilities of convergence accomplishment and capabilities of convergent cognition showed similar level of importance, and were considered more important factor than capabilities of convergence attitude (23.8%). Second, the relative importance of capabilities of problem solving (20.0%) was highest in the second layer of key competencies, and followed by capabilities of creative thinking (18.3%), responsibility (15.3%), and understanding convergence knowledge (11.0%). Third, it will be a foundation of a competency evaluation, which reasonably evaluates, based on the relative weights, whether to accomplish educational objectives of the STEAM program In addition, this results is expected to become a guide to develop an education program that can improve the teaching and learning process and raise the learning outcome, as well as an education evaluation of the STEAM.
It is essential to understand the role of wall lining materials when they are exposed to a fire from an ignition source. Full-scale test methods permit an assessment of the performance of a wall lining material. Fire growth models have been developed due to the costly expense associated with full-scale testing. The models require heat flux maps from the ignition burner flame as input data. Work to date was impeded by a lack of detailed spatial characterization of the heat flux maps due to the use of limited instrumentation. To increase the power of fire modeling, accurate and detailed heat flux maps from the ignition burner are essential. High level spatial resolution for surface temperature can be provided from an infrared camera. The objective of this study was to develop a heat flux mapping procedure for a room test burner flame to a wall configuration with surface temperature information taken from an infrared camera. A prototype experiment was performed using the ISO 9705 test burner to demonstrate the developed heat flux mapping procedure. The results of the experiment allow the heat flux and spatial resolutions of the method to be determined and compared to the methods currently available.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the canal configuration after shaping by ProFile. ProTaper and K-Flexofile in simulated resin canals with different angles of curvature. Three types of instruments were used: ProFile. ProTaper. K-Flexofile. Simulated root canals. which were made of epoxy resin. were prepared by ProFile. ProTaper with rotary instrument using a crown-down pressureless technique. and hand instrumentation was performed by K-Flexofile using a step-back technique. All simulated. canals were prepared up to size 25 file at end-point of preparation. Pre and post instrumentation images were recorded with Scanner. Assessment of canal shape was completed with Image Analysis program. Measurements were made at 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9 and 10mm from the apex. At each level. outer canal width. inner canal width. total canal width. and amount of transportation from original axis were recorded. Instrument deformation and fracture were recorded. Data were analyzed by means of one-way ANOVA analysis of variance and the Sheffe's test. The result was that ProFile and ProTaper maintain original canal shape regardless of the increase of angle of curvature than K-Flexofile. ProFile show significantly less canal transportation and maintained original canal shape better than ProTaper.
This study is an attempt to deduct environmental uncertainties facing next-generation convergence services, in four areas including customer, technology, service provider and regulation. We assess the level of residual uncertainty with regard to key environmental uncertainty factors, and conduct a scenario planning analysis. Based on the results of this analysis, we provide suggestions on market entry strategy for providers of this next-generation convergence service. The strategic assessment of six scenarios developed in this study, each with two levels of residual uncertainty (alternate futures and a range of futures) resulted in two key success factors (KSF), namely, customer demand trends and easing of advertising restrictions. Four types of strategic scenarios were then discerned, for each of which we present response capabilities that may be required of service providers, along with strategic suggestions. The results of this study are rich in implications for both policy-makers and regulators seeking ways to create and stimulate a convergence service market and prospective providers of next-generation convergence services, as they provide concrete tips related to market entry strategy, including efficient resource allocation, types of market entry and time-frames for entry.
A series of experiments was planned for practical application of rhizobia in grass lands in Korea. This is the report for the studies mainly on the isolation and characterization of alfalfa nodule bacteria, and on the assessment of their nodulation abilities and nitrogen fixation capacities. 1. Total number of 47 strains was isolated from nodules which were taken from alfalfa grown in Daekwanyong, Cheju and other places. 2. Morphological and cultural characteristics of the strains were studied, and attempts. were also made to investigate their antigenic properties and to demonstrate lysogenic strains. The results were; i) the isolates varied in their cultural characteristics on yeast mannitol broth and agar, and in degree of congo red absorption; ii) similarities in their antigenic prorerties were found between the strains: SU 47/M-11, M-13/M-15, and M-3/M-5; iii) no lysogeny was found in the strains. 3. Plant infection test by test tube method in light room were carried out to elucidate the ability of the strains to nodulate Luna alfalfa and of the capacity of such nodules to fix atmospheric nitrogen. The isolates were grouped info non-invasive, ineffective, or effective to the legumes. Those strains which produced effective nodules, supporting similar/higher level of growth as nitrate control were: M-8, 9, 14, 20, 21, 25 and 34.
As the Concept "how environmental friendly" becomes more and more important in road construction. However, so far there is no estimation method. Environmental friendly concept can be incorporated at the plan level in order to influence decision making, and support policies that affect environment. The overall goal of this study was to develop environmental friendly concept measures for the national highway and to develop a methodology to implement a more environmental friendly concept. The research identified 8 performance measures through a project analysis that could address environmental impact assessment system's ten strategic goals - Topography, Wildlife, hydrology, landuse, air quality, water quality, soil, waste, noise, landscape. The qualitatively and quantitatively evaluation approach was selected as the decision support framework and performance measure were investigated using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) and pilot corridor for a 10 section and calculate the index values. The methodology was applied to a pilot corridor comprised of a 120km section of national highway in korea. The methodology made it possible to identify the specific performance measures that need improvement to enhance the overall environmental friendly concept. It is fairly intuitive, based on readily available data, and is easy to apply. It provides a powerful tool for government to assess the relative environmental friendly conceptof their transportation corridors now and in the future. It allows for comparisons within a corridor and with other corridors and identifies the improvements needed to enhance the environmental friendly concept.

Glaux maritima var. obtusifolia is distributed in very limited areas in South Korea and thus designated and protected as an endangered species. This study aimed to identify the diversity of vegetation in the Dangsa coast wetlands, the southern limit of G. maritima var. obtusifolia and to assess determinants of the vegetation and the importance of habitats. The phytosociological method of the $Z{\ddot{u}}rich-Montpellier$ School was used for vegetation classification and mathematical and statistical analyses were also conducted to analyze environmental factors and their relationship with the vegetation. The results of this study showed that there were 4 vegetation units in the Dangsa coast wetlands: Glaux maritima var. obtusifolia-Triglochin maritimum community (included three subcommunities), Puccinellia nipponica s.l. community, Beckmannia syzigachne-Isachne globosa community and Typha laxmannii-Phragmites communis community. It was also found that major determinants of the vegetation include moisture environment, soil depth, water level disturbance, vegetation height, community structure, etc. Glaux maritima was identified to grow most dominantly in the typicum subassociation of Glaux. maritima var. obtusifolia-Triglochin maritimum community, and the species compositions and dominant situations were observed to be similar to those in the southern limit in Japan, adjacent to South Korea. The assessment results indicated that the Dangsa coastal wetlands have a significant meaning from phytogeographical and syngeographical aspects, and contribute as a shelter for diverse species. It is required to establish conservation strategies to accurately determine the value of the wetlands of the Dangsa coast from various perspectives, and to protect and manage them.
