  • We collected the domestic and foreign half-mirror coating lens for sunglasses. Their reflectance is measured using Spectrophotometer in order to analysis their optical property and the result which is calculated using Macleod program was compared with measured reflectance. In addition, we designed the new half-mirror coating lens with gold color using TiN material and investigated the optical property of the new half-mirror coating lens. The results obtained from analysis of half-mirror coating lenses are as follow : Two-tone half-mirror coating with silver color is fabricated with [air|$SiO_2$(or $Al_2O_3$)|Cr|glass]. The role of $SiO_2$(or $Al_2O_3$) on Cr improve the hardness of the lens and the thickness of the $Al_2O_3$ with 10 nm is good to show the lens silver color. Incase of color half-mirror coating lens. • Silicone hydrogels incorporated with poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) were prepared and characterized to evaluate the effects of PEG on contact lenses. The silicone hydrogels were copolymerized with methacryloxypropyl tris(trimethylsiloxy) silane (TRIS), methyl methacrylate (MMA), N,N-dimethyl acrylamide (DMA) and PEG-containing monomers such as poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEG- MEM). The silicone hydrogels were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), electron spectroscopy of chemical analysis (ESCA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Water absorbance, water contact angle and light transmittance of the silicone hydrogels were evaluated. The experiments of protein adsorption were also carried out to evaluate the protein adsorption in tears. The peak intensity of C-O bond was increased by the incorporation of PEG-containing monomers and thus PEG incorporation into silicone hydrogels could be confirmed. Phase separation was not shown by the SEM observation of the cross-section of silicone hydrogels. Water absorbancy was increased, while water contact angle and light transmittance were decreased with increasing incorporation of the PEG-containing monomers. The absorption of proteins in tears, albumin, lysozyme and $\gamma$-globulin, on the surface of silicone hydrogels was decreased with increasing incorporation of the PEG-containing monomers.

  • This paper proposes a simulation algorithm to assess the gradual yellowing vision of the elderly, which refers to the predominance of yellowness in their vision due to aging of the ocular optic media. This algorithm employed the spectral transmittance property of a yellow filter to represent the color appearance perceived by elderly people with yellow vision, and modeled the changes in the color space through a spectrum change in light using the yellow filter effect. The spectral reflectivity data of 1269 Munsell matte color chips were used as reference data. Under the standard conditions of a D65 illuminant and a $10^{\circ}$ observer of 1964 CIE, the spectrum of the 1269 Munsell colors were processed through the yellow filter effect to simulate yellow vision. Various degrees of yellow vision were modeled according to the transmittance percentage of the yellow filter. The color differences before and after the yellow filter effect were calculated using the DE2000 formula, and the color pairs were selected based on the color difference function. These color pairs are distinguishable through normal vision, but the color difference diminishes as the degree of yellow vision increases. Assuming 80% of yellow vision effect, 17 color pairs out of $(1269{\times}1268)/2$ pairs were selected, and for the 90% of yellow vision effect, only 3 color pairs were selected. The result of this study can be utilized for the diagnosis system of gradual yellow vision, making various types of test charts with selected color pairs.

  • The optical system of lens must be designed to tramsmit light over wide wavelength range and to have lower reflectivity in order to obtain higher spectral transmittance. However, the reflection color light appears due to the remain-reflection light in any optical system of lens. The wavelength of the reflection color light can be controlled by the structure of the number of layers, thickness of layer, reflective index, wavelength of incidence, and substrate etc. In the optical systems of the single layer and the double layers, the reflection color light appears in the condition of the anti-reflection of ${\lambda}s/{\lambda}$ = 1.0 by the color mixture of the remain-reflection lights in the ranges of the longer wavelength side and the shorter one of the ${\lambda}s/{\lambda}$ = 1.0, and of the double layers and triple layers, the reflection color light positioned at P1 < ${\lambda}s/{\lambda}$ < P2 appears in the condition of the antireflection of ${\lambda}s/{\lambda}$ = $PI{\ll}1$ and $P2{\gg}1$. In the optical system of the multi-layers, many antireflection points are existed at the various s/ values, and the reflection color light by the color mixture of the remain-reflection lights in the ranges except for the antireflection points.

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are structures of carbon atoms bonded together in hexagonal honeycomb shapes, with multi-walled CNTs having a very high thermal conductivity of $3000W/m{\cdot}K$ and single-walled CNTs having a conductivity of $6000W/m{\cdot}K$. In this work, the transmittance and the thermal diffusivity of a multi-walled carbon nanotube dispersion with a concentration of 1.5 M were measured using a single beam method, a dual beam method, and the thermal lens effect. The nonlinear optical coefficients were obtained by using the z-scan method, which moved the sample in the direction of propagation of the single laser beam, propagation and the thermal diffusivity was measured using a double laser beam. As a pump beam, a diode-pumped solid state (DPSS) laser with a wavelength of 532 nm and an intensity of 100 mW was used. As the probe beam, a He-Ne laser having a wavelength of 633 nm and an intensity of 5 mW was used. The experimental result shows that when the concentrations of the sample were 9.99, 11.10, 16.65, and 19.98 mM, the nonlinear absorption coefficients were 0.046, 0.051, 0.136 and 0.169 m/W, respectively. Also, the nonlinear refractive indices were 0.20, 0.51, 1.25 and $1.32{\times}10^{-11}m^2/W$, respectively, and the average thermal diffusivity was $1.33{\times}10^{-6}m^2/s$.

  • An irradiator is developed using two UVA wavelength ranges of SMD LEDs as a curing light source. This module has dimensions of 545×111×300 mm3 and is equipped with a TIR bar-shaped lens made of PDMS silicone resin. The developed irradiator offers high uniformity, with 89% in the centerline of the horizontal axis direction, for two different wavelength ranges of 365 nm and 385 nm. The radiation intensity from the light source module shows highly directional characteristics, and the irradiator provides a maximum irradiance of 1,634 mW/cm2 at a working distance of 50 mm. During the initial 5 minutes of operation, the irradiance experiences a rapid decrease. However, this issue is addressed by optimizing the LED's current reduction characteristics and managing the Transistor's temperature rise in the constant current circuit. After continuous operation for approximately 60 minutes. The highest temperature, near the central part of the irradiating surface, reaches 69.7℃, while the lowest temperature, near the edges, is 41.1℃.

  • In optical pick-up, optical components such as objective lens, collimator, mirror, laser diode and photo diode are mounted on the pick-up base. These components must keep their original position during operation for proper transmittance of information from laser diode to optical disk and back to photo diode. However, micro thermal deformation of pick-up base which is induced by thermal environment during operation can deteriorate the performance of optical pick-up. Therefore, it is important to measure and analyze the thermal deformation behavior of pick-up base under thermal environment. In the present study, a measurement system using holographic interferometry was designed to measure micro thermal deformation of pick up base. The measurement system was verified by using the deformation of cantilever with prescribed motion actuated by PZT with 1 nm resolution. Interferometric measurement was compared quantitatively with that induced by PZT actuator. Finally, micro thermal deformation of pick-up base under actual thermal environment was measured using the present holographic interferometry and the results were analysed.

  • An infrared camera and laser common-path optical system is applied to DIRCM (directional infrared countermeasures), to increase boresighting accuracy and decrease weight. Thermal effects of a laser beam in a common-path optical system are analyzed and evaluated, to predict any degradation in image quality. A laser beam with high energy density is absorbed by and heats the optical components, and then the surface temperature of the optical components increases. The heated optical components of the common-path optical system decrease system transmittance, which can degrade image quality. For analysis, the assumed simulation condition is that the laser is incident for 10 seconds on the mirror (aluminum, silica glass, silicon) and lens (sapphire, zinc selenide, silicon, germanium) materials, and the surface temperature distribution of each material is calculated. The wavelength of the laser beam is $4{\mu}m$ and its output power is 3 W. According to the results of the calculations, the surface temperature of silica glass for the mirror material and sapphire for the lens material is higher than for other materials; the main reason for the temperature increase is the absorption coefficient and thermal conductivity of the material. Consequently, materials for the optical components with high thermal conductivity and low absorption coefficient can reduce the image-quality degradation due to laser-beam thermal effects in an infrared camera and laser common-path optical system.

  • Nickel-ferrite $Ni_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ thin films with several composition for Ni on glass substrate was prepared by ferrite plating method in order to make sunglass which cut off ultraviolet and shield electromagnetic field. It has single phase of polycrystalline spinel structure and has gloss as mirror and has high hardness which is no scratch while scraping by using nail. The transmittance of nickel-ferrite thin film is lowered to zero below 400 nm manifestly. And it shows that the nickel-ferrite thin film in nickel composition rate x = 0.09 was most cut oil ultraviolet when compared with goods of other company in the cut off effect of ultraviolet. Therefore, sunglasses coated with $Ni_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ thin film can be used in removing ultraviolet and electromagnetic field.

  • The copolymerization of triacetoxyvinylsilane, EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a cross-linker), HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), MMA (methyl methacrylate), MA (methacrylic acid) was performed in the presence of AIBN (2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile) as an initiator. Measurement of the physical properties of the resulting copolymers showed that water content, refractive index, visible ray transmittance, and tensile strength were in the range of 35.63~32.44%, 1.4382~1.4480, 89.0~92.5% and 0.346~0.674 kgf, respectively. The values of tensile strength of copolymers-containing hexamethylene diisocyanate were higher than those of the copolymers containing triacetoxyvinylsilane. From the results we came to the conclusion that the produced copolymers are suitable for the application of ophthalmic contact lens with high tensile strength, wettability and duraility.
