In this paper, frequency analysis has been done for functionally graded cylindrical shell with ring supports using Sander's shell theory. The vibrations of rotating cylindrical shells are analyzed for different physical factors. The fundamental natural frequency is investigated for different parameters such as: ratios of length-to-diameter ring supports. By increasing different value of height-to-radius ratio, the resulting backward and forward frequencies increase and frequencies decrease on increasing height-to-radius ratio. The frequencies for different position of ring supports are obtained in the form of bell shaped. The backward frequencies increases and forward frequencies decrease on increasing the rotating speed. The results generated furnish the evidence regarding applicability of present shell model and also verified by earlier published literature.

The wave power, extracted from a circular array of small power buoys, is investigated under the potential theory. It is assumed that the buoy's radius, the draft, and the separation distance are much smaller than the water depth, the wave length, and the radius of a circular deployment area. The boundary value problem involving the macro-scale boundary condition on the mean surface covered by buoys is solved using the eigenfunction expansion method. The capture width, which is defined as the ratio of the extracted power to the wave power per unit length of the incident wave crest, is assessed for various combinations of packing ratio, radius of a circular array, and PTO damping coefficient. It is found that the circular array deployment is more effective in the viewpoint of efficiency than the single large buoy of the same total displaced volume.

Considering the significant relationship between a tree's branch structure and physiology, understanding the detailed branch structure is crucial for fields such as species classification, and 3D tree modelling. Recently, terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) and quantitative structure model (QSM) have enhanced the understanding of branch structures by capturing the radius, length, and branching angle of branches. Previous studies examining branch structure with TL S and QSM often relied on mean or median of branch structure parameters, such as the radius ratio and length ratio in parent-child relationships, as representative values. Additionally, these studies have typically focused on the relationship between trunk and the first order branches. This study aims to explore the distribution of branch structure parameters up to the third order in Aesculus hippocastanum, Ginkgo biloba, and Prunus yedoensis. The gamma distribution best represented the distributions of branch structure parameters, as evidenced by the average of Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistics (radius = 0.048; length = 0.061; angle = 0.050). Comparisons of the mode, mean, and median were conducted to determine the most representative measure indicating the central tendency of branch structure parameters. The estimated distributions showed differences between the mode and mean (average of normalized differences for radius ratio = 11.2%; length ratio = 17.0%; branching angle = 8.2%), and between the mode and median (radius ratio = 7.5%; length ratio = 11.5%; branching angle = 5.5%). Comparisons of the estimated distributions across branch orders and species were conducted, showing variations across branch orders and species. This study suggests that examining the estimated distribution of the branch structure parameter offers a more detailed description of branch structure, capturing the central tendencies of branch structure parameters. We also emphasize the importance of examining higher branch orders to gain a comprehensive understanding of branch structure, highlighting the differences across branch orders.

This paper was utilized the STKM13C tubes for machine structural purposes model, inner radius was 100 mm and outer radios was 140 mm, axial length was semi-infinite and the isoparametric element was used. Radial, tangential and shearing stress occured the maximum stresses(-20, 52 and 26 MPa) at the inner radius and the minimum stresses at the outer radius. of the hydraulic actuator cylinders for an industrial systems. But negative signs have meaning compressive stress and stress diminution ratio was about 0.15 MPa/mm And then coincidence between the simulation and exact results(Lame' equation) is found to be fairly good, showing that the proposed analytical by BEM are reliable.
We calculated the wind velocities for 32 Cyg in order to understand how influence a damping length on the wind of supergiant driven by Alfven waves. Four cases, $\lambda$=0.9, 1.0, 5.0, the ratio of the damping length to the supergiant's radius, and the damping length increasing linearly with the distance from the star, were compared. The results showed the forces by Alfven waves gave the major contribution to the wind velocity but the forces by the pressure and gravitation did little. The model for the damping length with the linear relation showed the rapid increased due to short damping length near the surface of the star.

A procedure of stress and strength analysis has been proposed for the centrifuge rotor of composite materials of quasi-isotropic laminates. The goal in this study is to maximize the allowable rotating speed, that is, to minimize maximum strength ratio with the given path length by changing the geometric parameter-outer radius and ply angles in quasi-isotropic laminates. Optimum values of the geometric parameter-outer radius and ply angles are obtained by multilevel optimization. All the geometric dimensions and stresses are normalized such that the result can be extended to a general case. Two dimensional analysis at each cross section with an elliptic tube hole subjected to internal hydrostatic pressures by samples as well as the centrifugal body forces has been performed along the height to calculate the stress distribution with the plane stress assumption, and Tsai-Wu failure criterion is used to calculate the strength ratio. The maximum allowable rotating speed can be increased by changing the radii of the outer surface along the height with the maximum strength ratio under the unit value : The optimal number of ply angles maximizing the allowable rotating speed in quasi-isotropic laminates is found to be the half number of tube hole, and the optimal laminate rotation angle is the half of $[{\pi}/m]$. A $[{\pi}/3]$ laminate, for instance, is stronger than a $[{\pi}/4]$ laminate for the centrifuge rotor of 6 tube hole number even though they have the same stiffness.

Recently, force measurement systems are commonly used in many industrial fields and the precision of the measurement system is getting more important as the industry needs more precise tools and in struments to make high quality products. However, a high precision force measurement system is hard to make unless we know precisely the causes, quality and quantity of measurement errors in advance. In this work, many possible mechanical causes of measurement errors are reviewed including ratio of length to diameter of sensing part, radius of contact area, radius of bearing part, ratio of material properties and change of boundary conditions. Also, the measurement errors are analyzed by nonlinear finite element method and the nonlinear behavior of the errors are investigated. The results can be used to design force measurement systems and expected to be very useful especially for compact type load cells.
This paper dealt the free vibration analysis of thick truncated conical composite sandwich shells with transversely flexible cores and simply supported boundary conditions based on a new improved and enhanced higher order sandwich shell theory. Geometries were used in the present work for the consideration of different radii curvatures of the face sheets and the core was unique. The coupled governing partial differential equations were derived by the Hamilton's principle. The in-plane circumferential and axial stresses of the core were considered in the new enhanced model. The first order shear deformation theory was used for the inner and outer composite face sheets and for the core, a polynomial description of the displacement fields was assumed based on the second Frostig's model. The effects of types of boundary conditions, conical angles, length to radius ratio, core to shell thickness ratio and core radius to shell thickness ratio on the free vibration analysis of truncated conical composite sandwich shells were also studied. Numerical results are presented and compared with the latest results found in literature. Also, the results were validated with those derived by ABAQUS FE code.
For the running safety assessment of Saemaul train passing through curves, an analysis model for multibody system has been developed. By using this model and ADAMS/Rail, sensitivity analyses depending on the variation of parameters related to the derailment coefficients have been conducted. At low speed, the derailment coefficient and the unload ratio of right wheel showed higher than left wheel, while those of left wheel showed higher than right wheel at high speed. According to decrease of curve radius, the derailment coefficient and the unload ratio were increased. When the length of transition curve was increased, the derailment coefficient was increased but there was no change on the unload ratio. According to the increase of cant, the derailment coefficient and the unload rate were increased.
Free vibration of symmetric angle-ply layered conical shell frusta of variable thickness is analyzed under shear deformation theory with different boundary conditions by applying collocation with spline approximation. Linear and exponential variation in thickness of layers are assumed in axial direction. Displacements and rotational functions are approximated by Bickley-type splines of order three and obtained a generalized eigenvalue problem. This problem is solved numerically for an eigenfrequency parameter and an associated eigenvector of spline coefficients. The vibration of three and five-layered conical shells, made up of two different type of materials are considered. Parametric studies are made for analysing the frequencies of the shell with respect to the coefficients of thickness variations, length-to-radius ratio, length-to-thickness ratio and ply angles with different combination of the materials. The results are compared with the available data and new results are presented in terms of tables and graphs.
