We have measured the correlation functions of the optically selected clusters of galaxies in the Abell and the APM catalogs, and of the X-ray clusters in the X-ray-Brightest Abell-type Clusters of galaxies (XBACs) catalog and the Brightest Clusters Sample (BCS). The same analysis method and the same method of characterizing the resulting correlation functions are applied to all observational samples. We have found that the amplitude of the correlation function of the APM clusters is much higher than what has been previously claimed, in particular for richer subsamples. The correlation length of the APM clusters with the richness R $\ge$ 70 (as defined by the APM team) is found to be $r_0 = 25.4_{-3.0}^{+3.1}\;h^{-1}$ Mpc. The amplitude of correlation function is about 2.4 times higher than that of Croft et al. (1997). The correlation lengths of the Abell clusters with the richness class RC $\ge$ 0 and 1 are measured to be $r_0 = 17.4_{-1.1}^{+1.2}$ and $21.0_{-2.8}^{+2.8}\;h^{-1}$ Mpc, respectively, which is consistent with our results for the APM sample at the similar level of richness. The richness dependence of cluster correlations is found to be $r_0= 0.40d_c + 3.2$ where $d_c$ is the mean intercluster separation. This is identical in slope with the Bahcall & West (1992)'s estimate, but is inconsistent with the weak dependence of Croft et al. (1997). The X-ray bright Abell clusters in the XBACs catalog and the X-ray selected clusters in the BCS catalog show strong clustering. The correlation length of the XBACs clusters with $L_x {\ge}0.65{\times} 10^{44}\;h^{-2}erg\;s^{-1}$ is $30.3_{-6.5}^{+8.2}\;h^{-1}$ Mpc, and that of the BCS clusters with $L_x {\ge}0.70{\times} 10^{44}\;h^{-2}erg\;s^{-1}$ is $30.2_{-8.9}^{+9.8}\;h^{-1}$ Mpc. The clustering strength of the X-ray clusters is much weaker than what is expected from the optical clusters.
There are several candidate genes in genetic study of alcoholism. Among them, allelic associations have been reported between MAOA CA repeat polymorphism and alcohol dependence, recently. And also, several studies have been investigated genotype-phenotype relationships between MAOA CA repeat polymorphism and clinical manifestations. The authors tried to identify differences in allelic frequency of MAOA CA repeat polymorphism between alcohol dependence and controls, and in behavioral trait and clinical characteristics according to MAOA CA repeat polymorphism. We also tried to investigate genotype-phenotype relationships between MAOA CA repeat polymorphism and behavioral trait such as aggression. We examined 49 male patients with alcohol dependence(DSM-IV) who had been admitted in Yong-In Mental Hospital from June 1st 1998 to October 31th 1998. We performed semistructured interview for demographic and clinical characteristics. Self-report questionnaire for BDHI(Buss-Durkey Hostility Inventory) was given to all subject at least 4weeks later after admission. Using polymerase chain reaction and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, MAOA CA repeat polymorphism were observed in 52 male controls and 49 male patients with alcohol dependence. We devided alcoholic patients into two groups according to allelic length of MAOA CA repeat polymorphism ; alcoholics with short alleles(${\leq}$119bp, N=20) and alcoholics with long alleles(${\geq}$123bp, N=29). T-test, ${\chi}^2$-test and Fisher exact probability test were used for statistical analysis. There were no significant differences in frequency of each allele and short and long alleles of MAOA CA repeat polymorphism between alcoholics and controls. But there were significant differences in clinical symptoms and behavioral trait between alcoholics with short and long alleles. In clinical symptoms, alcoholics with long alleles used alcohol more frequently during one month before admission, had much more maximum amount of beer drinking and reported withdrawal seizure more frequently than with short alleles. In contrary, alcoholics with short alleles expressed depressed mood and guilty feeling more frequently and wanted complete abstinence as a treatment goal more frequently than with long alleles. In behavioral trait, alcoholics with long alleles had higher total aggression score and showed much more self-assertive attitude(subscale of expression of aggression) than with short alleles. Allelic length of MAOA CA repeat polymorphism was correlated with self-assertive attitude and accounted for 9% of the variance of self-assertive attitude. And also, predictable variables of allelic length of MAOA CA repeat polymorphism were drinking frequency and self-assertive attitude. Our findings suggest that MAOA CA repeat polymorphism may provide some behavior modifying role especially in self-assertive attitude and indirect symptom modifying role in Korean male alcoholics.

This paper analyzed the phenomenon of drain induced barrier lowering(DIBL) for the ratio of channel length vs. thickness of asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET. DIBL, the important secondary effect, is occurred for short channel MOSFET in which drain voltage influences on potential barrier height of source, and significantly affects on transistor characteristics such as threshold voltage movement. The series potential distribution is derived from Poisson's equation to analyze DIBL, and threshold voltage is defined by top gate voltage of asymmetric DGMOSFET in case the off current is 10-7 A/m. Since asymmetric DGMOSFET has the advantage that channel length and channel thickness can significantly minimize, and short channel effects reduce, DIBL is investigated for the ratio of channel length vs. thickness in this study. As a results, DIBL is greatly influenced by the ratio of channel length vs. thickness. We also know DIBL is greatly changed for bottom gate voltage, top/bottom gate oxide thickness and channel doping concentration.
The effects of external excitation with various frequencies and amplitudes on the flame behavior and pollution emission characteristics from a laminar jet flame are experimentally investigated. Measurements of $NO_{x}$ emission indices($EINO_{x}$), performed in unconformed and vertical lifted flame at resonance frequency by strong excitation, have been conducted experimentally. It was also conducted to investigate the effects of excited frequency on $NO_{x}$ emissions with a various frequency ranged 0Hz to 2kHz. From the vertical lifted flame like turbulent of the excited jet with resonance frequency was shown that the dependence of $NO_{x}$ emission could be categorized into three groups: Group 1 of intermediate flame length and relative narrow flame volume yielding low $NO_{x}$ emission, Group 2 of short flame length but large flame volume yielding high $NO_{x}$ emission and Group 3 of long flame length with low temperature contours yielding high $NO_{x}$ emission.
This paper describes the effect of loading rate, specimen geometries and material properties for Mode II interlaminar fracture toughness of hybrid composite by using end notched flexure(ENF) specimen. In the range of loading rate 0.5~2mm/min, there is found to be no significant effect of loading rate with the value of critical energy release rate( $G_{IIc}$). there is no dependence of the interlaminar fracture energy upon the specimen width over the specimen widths examined. The value of $G_{IIc}$ for variation of initial crack length are nearly similiar values when material properties are CF/CF and GF/GF, however, the value of $G_{IIc}$ are highest with the increasing intial crack length at CF/GF. The values of $G_{IIc}$ for variation material properties are higher with the increasing moulding pressure when moulding pressures are 307, 431, 585㎪. The SEM photographs show good fiber distribution and interfacial bonding of hybrid composites when the moulding is the CF/GF.e CF/GF.
This paper carried out an experiment on the characteristics of time, temperature, electric field and the dependense of electrode materials and gap length by the conduction current of the insulating oil used for x-ray tube housing. The obtained results can be summarized as following: 1. In the x-ray tube housing insulating oil with vacuum condition, conduction current is declined more than the x-ray tube housing insultaing oil with the air, and is held stable states. 2. At the low electric field the higher temperature of the x-ray tube housing insulating oil is increased, the more conduction current. 3. The dependence of electrode material is appeared at the low electric field and the short gap length than the high and the long with Fe> Cu >Al. 4. At the I-E characteristics, the low electric field than 1000 [V/cm] is appeared Ohm's law region, and the high become saturation region. 5. At the same electric field, the longer gap length become, the more conduction current is increased, and the same applied voltage, the longer, the less conduction current is decreased, the less low than high temperature x-ray tube housing insulating oil.

Morphology of porous cobalt electro-deposits was systematically investigated as functions of cobalt precursors in the plating bath and applied cathodic current density with a special focus on cobalt nano-rod formation. It was proved that the concentration of cobalt precursor plays little effect on the morphology of cobalt electro-deposits at relatively low plating current density while it significantly affects the morphology with increasing plating current density. Such a dependence was discussed in terms of the kinetics of two competitive reactions of cobalt reduction and hydrogen evolution. Cobalt nano-rod structure was created at specific ranges of cobalt precursor content and applied cathodic current density, and its diameter and length varied with plating time without notable formation of side branches which is usually found during dendrite formation. Specifically, the nano-rod length was preferentially increased in relative short plating time (<15 s), resulting in higher aspect ratio of nano-rod with plating time. Whereas, both the nano-rod length and diameter were increased nearly at the same level in a prolonged plating time, making the aspect ratio unchanged. From the analysis of crystal structure, it was confirmed that the cobalt nano-rod preferentially grew in the form of single crystal on a dense poly-crystalline cobalt thin film initially formed on the substrate.
An eigenvalue design sensitivity formulation of a general nonsymmetric-matrix rotor-bearing system is devised. using the DDM (direct differential method). Then, investigations on the design sensitivities of critical speeds are carried out for an APU turbogenerator with a spline shaft connection. Results show that the dependence of the rate of change of the critical speed on the stiffness changes of bearing models of spline shaft connection points is negligible, and thereby their modeling uncertainty does not present any problem. And the passing critical speeds up to the 4th critical speed are not sensitive to the design stiffness coefficients of four main bearings. Further, the dependence of the rate of change of the critical speed on the shaft-element length changes shows quantitatively that the spline shaft has some limited influence on the 4th critical speed but no influence on the 1st to 3rd critical speeds. With no adverse effect from the spline shaft, the APU system achieves a critical speed separation margin of more than 40% at a rated speed of 60,000 rpm.

In this paper we look at the effect of Fringe-Enhanced-Barrier-lowering (FEBL) for high-K dielectric MOSFETs and the dependence of FEBL on various technological parameters (spacer dielectrics, overlap length, dielectric stack, S/D junction depth and dielectric thickness). We show that FEBL needs to be contained in order to maintain the performance advantage with scaled high-K dielectric MOSFETs. The degradation in high-K dielectric MOSFETs is also identified as due to the additional coupling between the drain-to-source that occurs through the gate insulator, when the gate dielectric constant is significantly higher than the silicon dielectric constant. The technology parameters required to minimize the coupling through the high-K dielectric are identified. It is also shown that gate dielectric stack with a low-K material as bottom layer (very thin $SiO_2$ or oxy-nitride) will be helpful in minimizing FEBL. The circuit performance issues with high-K MOS transistors are also analyzed in this paper. An optimum range of values for the dielectric constant has been identified from the delay and the energy dissipation point of view. The dependence of the optimum K for different technology generations has been discussed. Circuit models for the parasitic capacitances in high-K transistors, by incorporating the fringing effects, have been presented.
The dependence of strength, crack growth, fracture mode and degree of domain rearrangement of PZT ceramics on poling strength were studied. The PZT [(Pb0.94Sr0.06)(Zr0.46Ti0.54)O3+Nb(trace)] specimens were poled at 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 kv/mm, and the strength of the specimens was measured by 3 point flexure system. The bending strength of the specimen decreased in different modes according to the bending directions; xz, zx and yz plane direction with x axis of the poling direction in Cartesian coordinate system. The strength differences between the directions increased as the poling strength increased. The fracture mode transferred to intergranular fracture mode from transgranular one as the poling strength increased. The mechanical breakdown occurred when the poling strength higher than 3 kV/mm was applied to the specimen. It was observed that the crack length increased in the normal direction to the poling direction, however, decreased in the parallel direction to the poling direction when the poled PZT specimen was indented by the Vickers indenter. However, the crack produced by indentation continuously was continuously increased little by little after indentation on the specimen. The domain rearrangement occurred as the poling strength increased and the domains were rearranged more effectively when the electric field was continuously increased little by little.
