  • User movement is an important factor in determining the amount of the acquired knowledge and information about space contexts. A reasonable circulation plan affects the spatial usage, space revitalization, and activity satisfaction, and is ultimately a means to increase spatial usefulness. On the other hand, a disorderly circulation system causes negative experiences due to difficulties in wayfinding. This research identified the importance of a pedestrian circulation system analyzing the correlation between the spatial configuration index and pedestrian movement, and visitors' movement in the leisure space by using Space Syntax. The research area, Ouam-ri, where numerous guests visit this designated folk village, is a typical case in which a settlement space is used as a leisure space. There was a great deal of risk that visitors would get lost while wandering through the space. Also, it is difficult to induce visitors to tour economically even though the pedestrian circulation configuration of Ouam-ri forms the natural moving line because of its typical tree structure. Additionally adjusting and to supplementing the pedestrian system is required in order for the traditional village, a settlement space, to be used as a leisure space.

  • It is necessary to build a quality-enhancing forest leisure sports facility according to values that value life quality, national forest policy. Vita Parcours (fitness trails) is found to be the activities highly convenient, so their introduction and promotion in Korea should be highly considered. field survey was necessary to explore the possibility of installing Vita Parcours. Several sites were selected, such as Asean recreational forest, Unaksan recreational forest, Yumyeongsan recreational forest, Saneum recreational forest, Jungmisan recreational forest and National center for forest therapy. At these locations, we explored the current status of forest facilities and forest trails. A total number of 31 exercise facilities has been identified and surveyed, some of which are located on the trails (2), alongside the trail (9), alongside trail boundaries (2) or represent facilities suitable for both outdoor and indoor exercise within the forest (18), all of whom provide location for 44 different exercise routines (flexibility exercises (23), endurance (12) and strength exercises (9)). Field work also included identification of forests paths, the total number of whom was 34 paths - 30 identified as trails, 2 as hiking trails, 1 as a forest path for relaxation and healing and 1 as an exploratory path. Regarding the structure and shape of these trails, 32 was straight in shape and only 2 designed as a circular forest trails. Average length of these trails was 652.2m with the highest and the lowest point altitude difference of 60m, on average. Saneum recreational forest provide the most suitable site/environment for Vita Parcours and as a result of this, Saneum recreational forest is proposed as a location to support the endeavors in promotion of these valuable forest fitness trails. Among the forest paths at this site, a forest path which has a length of 1.84km and 73.0m the highest and the lowest point altitude difference was selected as the most suitable, and may be equipped with necessary stations for exercise or obstacles. In addition, if these trails are to be introduced and welcomed by its users, we must assure that they are properly maintained.

  • Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to develop an evaluation system using the weighted-values of various users and experts for the public space to apply Universal Design, and additionally to find out the commonalities and differences by comparing the importance of evaluation indicators between users and expert groups. Method: A one-sample t-test was conducted to verify that the components of the public space to universal design application are suitable as evaluation indicators, and AHP(analytic hierarchy process) was performed to derive weight-values for the evaluation system. Results: The importance-values for the total 23 facilities to be used as evaluation indicators were derived by multiplying the weighted-values of each sector, domain, and facility by the disabled, non-disabled, and experts. To summarize the results of overall importance-values derived from the AHP, The disabled showed high-rank weighted-values in facilities of building sector > park & recreation sector > cross domain and low-rank weighted-values for sidewalk and roadway domain. The non-disabled showed high-rank weighted-values in facilities of park & recreation sector > roadway domain > building sector > cross domain and low-rank weighted-values for sidewalk domain. Experts mainly showed high-rank weighted-values in the cross domain and in facilities related to entry and movement to the target space in all sectors and domains. However, it showed moderate importance-values in the sanitary space. The disabled who are restricted to movement have a high demand for universal design in buildings consisting of vertical moving line, and non-disabled people who are not limited to physical movement have a high demand for universal design in parks and recreation sector for increased leisure time. It means that experts are important to recognize the principles of making space because they value cross domain and the key spaces and facilities for suitable the purpose of use. In addition, it can be inferred that non-disabled people have a higher demand for safety than disabled people due to their high importance in roadway domain and facilities of safety and disaster prevention. Implications: The significance of this study is the establishment of a quantitative universal design evaluation system for public spaces considering the different perspectives of the disabled and the non-disabled.

  • The purpose of our study is to confirm the trend of the muscle activity of the trunk and lower limb muscles by the attack method and phase during volleyball exercise. To achieve this purpose, spike serve and spike were conducted for 9 male middle school students, and at that time, it was divided into four phase, such as run jump, take off, impact, and follow, and the rectus abdominis, erector spine, and left rectus femoris, left biceps femoris, left anterior tibialis, left gastrocnemius midialis, right rectus femoris, right biceps femoris, right anterior tibialis, right gastrocnemius midialis, were examined. Spike serve and spike were each performed three times, and randomly cross-allocated to extract accurate data. We was no difference in all muscles according to the attack method, and the muscle activity of the rectus abdominis was highest in the impact phase and the muscle activity of the vertebral spine muscle was highest in the close-up phase. In addition, all of the measured left and right lower limb muscles showed the highest muscle activity between the assisted devices. As a result, We found out that regardless of the method of spike serve and spike, the lower limbs in the run-up phase for a high jump, the vertebrae in the take off phase, the preparation phase for hitting the ball strongly, and in the impact phase at the moment of hitting the ball. It can be seen that it exerts the greatest power in the rectus abdominis.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in heart rate according to recovery methods after circuit weight training exercise. Fourteen men in their twenties were selected as subjects, and three sets of circuit weight training were performed by cycling six sports, and two recovery conditions (dynamic and static) were performed immediately after exercise. Changes in heart rate did not have an interactive effect according to recovery method and time, and both conditions showed significant changes between sets 1 and 2, and between sets 3 and after recovery. In this study, the high heart rate of 2 sets and 3 sets was seen as a result of exercise stimulation, and the low heart rate of 1 set was thought to be due to the decrease in vagus nerve activity rather than the role of catecholamines. On the other hand, the heart rate after 20 minutes of exercise did not show any difference according to the recovery method, which could mean that the recovery process due to the aquatic environment can act more strongly than the process of dynamic recovery and static recovery. It is thought that the characteristics affected the sensory and circulation of the body, and thus the change of the afferent signal and the level of metabolic products generated in the active muscle.

  • This study describes behavioral characteristics of Korean population over twenty years old in a variety of activities of daily living by analyzing the raw data of the time use survey provided by Statistics Korea (KOSTAT). Seven activities and forty four sub-activities of daily living were selected for analysis : personal care, employment, household care, family care, voluntary work and community participation, social life, recreation and leisure, and travel. In order to quantitatively understand how Korean adults spend their time for a day and how their lifestyle changes over time, we collected the time recorded by 3,673 respondents in three surveys over the past ten years (in 1999, 2004, and 2009). Then, we performed analysis of variance to compare the behavioral characteristics by user age and gender based on the mean time of each activity. The differences in behavior among user groups and over time could be used to design ergonomic products and services based on user experience, especially for universal design of housing and transportation facilities.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the intensity of warm-up exercise on the physiological response and exercise performance during resistance exercise. For this purpose, 8 male college students with at least 1 year of experience in resistance movement were selected. The warm-up condition was set to NON condition (preparatory exercise not performed), 3 set condition, 6 set condition, and 9 set condition, and the intensity was different for each set. After warm-up, 75% 1RM of main exercise was performed, and blood pressure and heart rate were measured immediately after exercise to measure RPP. The number of repetitions and total work for each condition were measured as the number of repetitions and momentum during the main exercise. The measured data were analyzed by repeated measures two-way ANOVA. As a result, although there was no difference in Rate Pressure Product according to the warm-up conditions, the number of repetitions and total amount of exercise showed the highest in the 3-set condition. Therefore, it is thought that the number and intensity of warm-up exercises should be set appropriately during resistance exercise, and warm-up of 3 sets or more during resistance exercise is thought to decrease exercise performance.
