  • This research looks close the effect of security agent's hierarchical leisure constraint on the leisure motivation and participation based on the Jackson's Model of the hierarchical leisure constraints. This research selected 420 people for sampling, designating security agents who work for security companies located in Seoul in 2009 at present as subjects by utilizing purposive sampling method, but the number of sampling used for ultimate analysis is 356. In this research, reliability analysis's and structural equation modeling's Maximum Likelihood method are used to prove the reliability and validity of questionnaire. By using these research method and procedures, the conclusion of this research is as following. First, intra-personal leisure constraint was affected by interpersonal, structural leisure constraint. Second, leisure motivation was affected negatively by leisure constraint. Third, leisure participation was affected positively by leisure motivation. Synthesizing all things referred above, leisure constraint was affected by inter-personal, structural leisure constraint, and in turn, leisure motivation and leisure participation were affected by its effects. It turned out that leisure motivation has a meaningful effect on leisure participation through leisure participation and adjusting process.

  • The purpose of this study are to identify dimensions of leisure motivation of urban housewives. to segment hose wives according to their leisure motivation type and to find out the characteristics of each group. Sample of survey are 574 married women under age 60 living in Seoul. data collected by questionnaire and interview were analyzed through statistical method including factor analysis. ANOVA, Duncan test, MCA and cluster analysis etc. Major finding are as follows; 1) Urban housewives' motivation for leisure activity is composed of self-developmental, relaxatonal, social, family-oriented and imitational dimensions. 2) Main determinants of wives' leisure motivation are their age, education, job, stage in family life cycle. number of family members and household income. Their Sex role personality traits also have effect. 3) The urban housewives' leisure motivation is strongly correlated with their participation in leisure activity. 4) According to the factor scores of each motivation dimensions, subjects can be grouped to 4 typed by use of cluster analysis technique. They were named as Leisure-Indifferent type, Little-Leisure-Seekers. Passive-Leisure-Seekers and Active-Leisure-Seekers. Each of these groups showed different features in socio-demographic factors. different personality traits, and different leisure behavior. For and urban housewife, the most important need for leisure is developing herself. Rest. social life and family are important for leisure, too. Imitation is another reason. Groups with different combination of leisure motivation seem to have different resource and personality. These results have implication for futuer leisure plan for them.

  • This study examines divergent experiences of family leisure from parent, child and family-level perspectives. In particular, emphasis is placed on differences and similarities about family leisure motivation and outcomes of family leisure activities among socioeconomic backgrounds. Questionnaires were completed by 100 families. The results indicate that Korean families mostly participate family leisure activities because of family bonding although this tendency emerges clearly only from parents' and female adolescents' responses. The families evaluate that family leisure activities bring more positive outcomes than negative outcomes to families. Intellectual motivation, family bonding motivation, and relaxation motivation are positively related to positive outcomes while obligation motivation is negatively related to positive outcomes. Further conclusions and implications are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the differences of family leisure motivation and family leisure constraints between German families and Korean families, and analyze the relationship among family leisure motivation, family leisure constraints, and family strengths. The sample in this study consisted of 102 Korean two-parent families with teenagers and 147 German two-parent families with teenagers. The results were as follows: 1) family bonding motivation and rest motivation did not differ significantly between German families and Koran families while educational motivation and obligatory motivation differ significantly between the two. 2) While Korean families were more constrained to intrapersonal constraints, German families were more constrained to interpersonal constraints. 3) Educational motivation, family bonding motivation, rest motivation, interpersonal constraints, and structural constraints were found to be significantly correlated with German family strength while educational motivation, family bonding motivation, rest motivation, and interpersonal constraints were found to be significantly correlated with Korean family strength.

The participants were middle and high school students.'rho data were collected by using a survey questionnaire. Seven hundred and forty one cases were used for data analysis. Major findings were as follows: 1 Adolescents 'motivation to participate in leisure activities was classified into four subcategories: self-development','sociality training', 'relaxation', and 'fun'. 1. The 'relaxation motivation' was the highest among the adolescents, and' sociality training motivation 'was lowest. High school students had relatively stronger motivation than middle school students. B. Adolescents 'ability to perform leisure activities consisted of 'control' 'enjoyment', and 'self-confidence'. 4. Male students had a higher leisure activity performance ability than female students. The score for' enjoyment ability 'was the highest, followed by 'self-confidence', and then 'control ability' 5. Major variables that influenced the leisure performance ability were gender, leisure attitudes, self-development motivation, sociality training motivation, and relaxation motivation.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify a Structural Equation Model that constructed the causations among the leisure constraints, leisure. motivation, and leisure participation. This model posits that constraints determine motivation to participation. Concretely, structural and interpersonal leisure constraints(contextual factors) will affect interpersonal leisure constraints in the light of ecological perspective. Also, leisure constraints will affect leisure motivation based on self-determination theory that may influence leisure participation indirectly. A survey questionnaire was administered to 301 elderly in an institution for the elderly. A measurement model and a structural equation model estimates by Maximum Likelihood method(ML method) utilizing LISREL 8.0 ver. The analysis showed that a goodness of fit is good of structural equation model presented in the study. And, all hypothesis adopted about causations among the leisure constraints, leisure motivation, leisure participation.

A survey questionnaire was administered to 265 elderly in an institution for the elderly. The data was analyzed using frequency analysis, factor analysis, and regression analysis. Major findings are as follows: First, the motivation to participate in leisure programs on the part of the institutionalized elderly tended to be more external than internal. Second, regression analysis indicated that the main internal factors that affected participation were health condition, interaction with roommate, gender. education level, and interaction with institution's staff. The major external factors that affected the participation were health condition, interaction with colleagues, gender, and education level.
