Structural Safety Assessment of a Concrete-filled Base Frame Supporting a Motor for Centrifugal Compressor Drives (원심식 압축기 구동용 모터 베이스 프레임의 콘크리트 타설에 따른 구조안전성 평가)

  • In this paper, we perform structural analysis for a base frame which is used to support a motor for large centrifugal compressor drives and a safety assessment according to the concrete placement. First, the structural analysis about four loading conditions for the motor base frame was conducted and the structural safety was evaluated through both the maximum distortion energy theory and Mohr-Coulomb theory. It was possible to perform a more reasonable safety evaluation against local stresses occurring at the discontinuous portion of the fragile structural members by applying the safety assessment through ASME VIII Div. 2. In addition, the motor base frames with and without the internal concrete placement were quantitatively compared by the structural analysis and safety evaluation using ASME code and it was found to improve the structural integrity due to the concrete placement.

  • 1차원 반도체인 nanowires (NWs)는 전기적, 광학적으로 일반 bulk구조와 다른 특성을 가지고 있어서 현재 많은 연구가 되고 있다. 일반적으로 NWs는 Au 등의 금속 촉매를 이용하여 성장을 하게 되는데 이때 촉매가 오염물로 작용을 해서 결함을 만들어서 bandgap내에 defect level을 형성하게 된다. 본 연구는 Si(111) 기판 위에 Ga-droplet을 촉매로 사용을 하여 molecular beam epitaxy로 성장을 하였다. 성장온도는 600$^{\circ}C$로 고정을 하였고 growth rate은 GaAs(100) substrate에서 2.5 A/s로 Ga의 양을 고정하고 V/III ratio를 1부터 8까지 변화를 시켰다. As의 양에 따라서 생성되는 NWs의 개수가 증가하고 growth rate이 빨라지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. Transmission Electron Microscopy 분석 결과 낮은 V/III ratio에서는 zincblende, wurtzite 그리고 stacking faults 가 혼재 되어 있는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이러한 결함은 소자를 만드는데 한계가 있기 때문에 pure zincblende나 pure wurtzite를 가져야 하는데 V/III ratio : 8 에서 pure zincblende구조가 되었다. Gibbs-Thomson effect에 따르면 구조적 변화는 Ga droplet과 NWs의 접면에서 크기가 중요한 역할을 한다[1]. 연구 결과 V/III ratio : 8일 때 Ga droplet의 크기가 zincblende성장에 알맞다는 것을 예상할 수 있었다. laser confocal photoluminescence 결과 상온에서 1.43 eV의 bandgap을 가지는 bulk구조와는 다른 와 1.49eV의 bandgap을 가지는 것을 확인하였다.

Fertility Differentials by Demographic and Socioeconomic Characteristics: Analysis of Korean Population Census Data (인구 및 사회경제적 차별출산력 - 인구센서스 자료분석을 중심으로)

  • 본 연구는 한국 기혼여성의 차별출산력 분석으로 인구학적 특성으로 연령, 초혼연령, 혼인상태 및 가족유형(가구구성)을 포함하구 사회경제적 특성으로 거주지역, 교육정도, 경제활동상태, 직업 및 주택 점유형태를 포함하였다. 통계청의 인구주택총조사를 원자료로 하여 인구 및 사회경제적 변인들이 출산력에 미친 영향을 파악하기 위하여 다변량 분석기법을 이용하였다. 초혼연령이 높아지면서 출산수준은 현저히 낮아졌으며, 배우자와 동거하는 기혼부인의 출생아수가 가장 많았으며, 이혼한 경우 가장 적었다. 자녀양육을 위한 부모의 도움을 받을 수 있는 3세대 이상 가족이 동거하는 가구의 경우 출산수준이 상대적으로 높았다. 그러나 최근 이혼이 급증하면서 유배우 상태가 빠르게 감소하구 1세대나 독신가구의 증가와 3세대 이상 가구의 감소는 앞으로의 출산수준을 더욱 빠르게 할 것이다. 사회경제적 특성별 차이에서도 유사한 현상을 발견할 수 있었다. 도시규모가 클수록, 학력수준이 높을수록, 전문사무직종에 근무할 경우, 그리고 전월세로 거주할 경우에 출산수준이 낮았다. 사회경제적 특성별 출생아수의 차이는 1980년에 가장 컸으며, 그 후 지속적으로 감소하고 있다. 더욱이 출산수준이 높은 농촌인구의 급감, 교육수준의 향상으로 교육간 차이의 감소 농어업직에 종사하는 기혼여성의 감소 등은 전체적인 출산수준을 빠르게 감소시키는 요인으로 작용하였다. 기혼부인의 특성별 출생아수의 차이는 여전히 뚜렷하였으나 그 차이는 점차 감소하고 있다. 또한, 출생아수가 많은 집단의 구성비가 빠르게 줄어드는 것을 감안하면 전체적인 출산수준의 감소는 더욱 빨라질 수 있다. 앞으로 2005년 인구주택총조사의 결과가 발표될 때 그 간의 특성별 출생아수의 차이와 인구구성비의 변화를 분석하면 대체출산수준에 근접한 1980년 이후 빠른 출산력의 감소원인을 이해하고 출산력의 장래 변화를 효과적으로 예측하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

Pulse Stretching Effect in XeCl Excimer Laser (XeCl 엑시머 레이저에서의 Pulse Stretching 효과)

  • Long pulse XeCl excimer laser with 150 ns (FWHM) pulse duration is developed using a simple capacitor-charge transfer circuit. We measured the laser pulse width varying the gas mixture ratio and capacitance ratio, which dominantly affect the pulse width. In this way we can easily stretch the pulse width from short pulse to long pulse. The pulse width was stretched by 120 ns as the partial pressure of HC1 and Xe gas was reduced under constant gas mixture ratio ([Xe]/[HCl]= 15), and by varying the capacitance ratio (Cm/Cp) under fixed pressure, the pulse width was stretched by 60 ns.

  • NiZn-ferrites were synthesized from the waste catalysts. which were by product of styrene monomer process and buried underground as an industrial wastes, and their magnetic properties were investigated. Nickel oxide and zinc oxide powders were mixed with finely ground waste catalysts, and spinel type ferrite was obtained by calcination at 900℃ and sintering at 1325℃ for 5 hours. The initial permeabilities were measured and reflection losses were calculated from S-parameters for the composition of Ni/sub x/Zn/sub 1-x/Fe₂O₄(x=0.36, 0.50, 0.66) and (Ni/sub 0.5/Zn/sub 0.5)/sub 1-y/Fe/sub 2+y/O₄(y=-0.02, 0, 0.02).

  • To analyze the effects of surfactants on the biosynthesis of galactolipid and the composition of fatty acids, the chloroplast envelope and thylakoid membrane were cultivated in medium treated with anionic surfactants, such as linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (0.002%, LAS), a-olefin sulfonate (O.01%, AOS), and sodium lauryl ether sulfate (0.08%, SLES), respectively. During the cultivation, the chloroplast envelope and thylakoid membrane were isolated from the cells collected at the early and middle phase of the culture and the contents of their fatty acid composition were compared with the control. When treated with surfactants, the contents of total lipid MDGD methylesters, and DGDG methylesters decreased significantly when compared with the control. It was also confirmed that more unsaturated fatty acids were involved in the biosynthesis of galactolipid. The fatty acids utilized in the biosynthesis of MGDG were in the chloroplast envelope and in the control, and linoleic acid in LAS, linolenic acid and oleic acid in AOS, and linolenic acid and oleic acid in SLES. The fatty acids in the biosynthesis of DGDG were linolenic acid and oleic acid in the control linolenic acid and stearic acid in LAS, oleic acid and linolenic acid in AOS, oleic acid and linolenic acid in SLES. In the thylakoid membrane, the major fatty acids in the biosynthesis of MGDG were linolenic acid and oleic acid in the control, oleic acid and linolenic acid in LAS, linolenic acid and linoleic acid in AOS, linolenic acid and palmitoleic acid in SLES. The fatty acids in the biosynthesis of DGDG were linolenic acid and oleic acid in the control, oleic acid and linolenic acid in LAS, linolenic acid and linoleic acid in AOS, palmitoleic acid and oleic acid in SLES.

Synergistic Effect of Carboxymethyl Chitosan and Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells on Osteoarthritis Model in Rabbits

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical effects of carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) on osteoarthritis (OA). Thirty New Zealand white rabbits were used as cranial cruciate ligament transection and partial meniscectomy models. The rabbits were divided into five groups (n = 6) according to the intra-articular injection materials: the control group with PBS, the HA group with hyaluronic acid, the CMC group with CMC, the MSC group with MSCs emerged in PBS, and the MSC+CMC group with CMC and MSCs. Knee thickness, extension angle, gross morphology, histopathology and immunohistochemistry were performed to evaluate the effects of CMC and MSCs on rabbit OA. On the morphologic and histologic examination, the articular surfaces of the femur and tibia were markedly damaged in control group with higher Mankin score and lower cartilage surface thickness. However, OA related cartilage defects were alleviated by the treatment of MSC and/or CMC. The expressions of apoptotic and inflammatory cytokines were decreased and cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM) related collagens I and II were enhanced by the treatment of MSC and/or CMC. In conclusion, this study showed that CMC and MSC treatments have a beneficial effects on OA via the protection of cartilage damage, the stimulation of ECM, and the inhibition of inflammatory and apoptotic reaction.

The Terminal and Internal Hairpin Loops of the ctRNA of Plasmid pJB01 Play Critical Roles in Regulating Copy Number

  • The plasmid pJB01, a member of the pMV158 family isolated from Enterococcus faecium JC1, contains three open reading frames, copA, repB, and repC. Plasmids included in this family produce counter-transcribed RNA (ctRNA) that contributes to copy number control. The pJB01 ctRNA, a transcript which consists of 54 nucleotides (nts), is encoded on the opposite strand from the copA/repB intergenic region and partially overlaps an atypical ribosome binding site (ARBS) for repB. The ARBS is integrated by the two underlined conserved regions: 5'-TTTTTGTNNNNTAANNNNNNNNNATG-3', and the ctRNA is complementary only to the 5' conserved sequence 5'-TTTTTGT-3'. This complementary sequence is located at a distance from the terminal loop of the ctRNA secondary structure. The ctRNA structure predicted by the mfold program suggests the possible generation of a terminal and an internal hairpin loop. The amount of in vitro translation product of repB mRNA was inversely proportional to the ctRNA concentration. Mutations in the terminal and internal hairpin loops of the ctRNA had inhibitory effects on its binding to the target mRNA. We propose that the intact structures of the terminal and internal hairpin loops, respectively, play important roles in forming the initial kissing and extending complexes between the ctRNA and target mRNA and that these regulate the copy number of this plasmid.

The Kinematic Analysis of the Last Stride landing and Release Phase in the Women Javelin (여자 창던지기 도움닫기 최종 1보 착지와 릴리즈 국면의 운동학적 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate a three dimensional kinematic variables about the last stride and the release phase of the throwing technique for female javelin throwers. For the motion analysis, Six female javelin throwers were used as subjects. Three-dimensional coordinates were collected using the Kwon3D Motion Analysis Package Version 2.1 Program. Two S-VHS Video Cameras were used to record the locations and orientations of control object and the performances of the subjects at a frequency of 6.0 HZ. After the kinematic variables such as the time, the distance, the velocity, and the angle were analyzed about the last stride and release phase, the followings were achieved; 1. For the effectively javelin throwing, the subjects appeared to do long the approach time in the phasel of landing phase, and short the delivery time in release phase 2. In the release event, the other subjects except for subject A appeared to throwing in the lower condition than the height of themselves. This result showed to slow the projecion velocity. 3. For increase the projection vcelocity of the upper extremity joint in the release event, it appeared to do extend rather the shoulder angle than increase the extension of elbow joint. 4. The body of COG angle showed to gradually increase nearly at the vertical axis in the release event. But the front lean angle of trunk showed a small angle compare to increase of the body of COG angle. Therefore for the effectively momentum transmission of the whole body in the javelin, the front and back lean angle of trunk appeared to do fastly transfer the angle displacement in the arch posture or the crescent condition during the deliverly motion of the release phase.
