A Study on the Optical Characteristics of LED Lamp as Alternative Type of FPL Lamp (FPL형광램프 대체형 LED램프의 조도특성에 관한 연구)

  • As lamps using LEDs are developed actively, also there have been large request for LED lamps that can replace traditional lamps like fluorescent lamps and metal halide lamps. But so far there are no proper standards that manufacturer can use and test their lamps. As a result of this, manufacturers are not only unable to develop LED lamps but also sell it even though they have technology. In this study, It is proposed that proper test method by investigating compatibility between all-type control gear and LED lamps by analyzing control gear for fluorescent lamp such as magnetic or electronic ballast that is currently used in the market.

  • 고휘도 LED(light emitting diode) 빨강(R), 녹색(G), 파랑(B), 호박색(A), 백색(W) 등의 중요한 광학특성인 광속(luminous flux), 효율(luminous efficacy), 피크 파장(peak wavelength), 가중치 평균 파장(weighted average wavelength), 반치폭 (full width at ha1f maximum), 색도좌표(chromaticity coordinate), 주 파장(dominant wavelength), 자극순도 (excitation purity) 와 휘도순도(colorimetric purity)에 대해서 비교검토하였다. 시험결과로 제시된 LED의 기본적인 특성 데이터는 추후, 새로운 조명용 LED 램프나 등기구(luminaire)를 개발 및 특성연구에 많은 도움을 줄 것으로 사료된다.

  • RGBY LED PKG를 이용하여 무대 사용을 위한 100W 급 LED 조명기구를 설계하고 무대에 적용하였을 때의 조명 환경을 예측, 분석 하였다. 이를 위하여 색온도 및 광색가변에 적합한 4 in 1 LED Package를 선정하고, 이를 이용하여 광원모듈을 구성하였으며, 또한 무대조명에 적용하기 위한 렌즈를 제작하였다. 이러한 LED 조명기구를 또한 무대조명에 적용하여 조명상황을 시뮬레이션 하고 무대 또는 객석에서의 평균조도 및 조도균제도 등을 계산하였다.

  • Fixture 일체형 LED 다운라이트(Downlight)의 광 효율 향상을 위하여 LED 장착위치 및 Reflector 길이, 히트싱크(Heat sink) 형태에 따른 광도(luminous intensity)와 기구효율(luminaire efficiency)을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 비교분석 하였다. 또한 히트싱크의 방열 설계를 시뮬레이션 하고 상용 LED 패키지 (Cree, XP-E P4)를 사용하여 시제품을 제작 하여 그 성능을 평가하였다. 그 결과 광속 9661m, 상관 색온도(CCT) 3,060K, 연색지수(CRI) 82의 광 특성을 갖는 LED 다운라이트를 개발하였다.

  • This paper presents the design guide of a LED red-light for naval vessels. Power consumption, luminous flux and optical characteristics of a conventional FL red-light were analyzed. Spectrum of the red-light is in ranges of 600~780 [nm]. Power consumption and luminous efficacy are 26.9 [W] and 1.1 [lm/W], respectively. From the experimental results, we proposed a 5 [W] LED red-light which save power consumption by 80 [%] and increase luminous flux over 500 [%].

  • We address the problematic issue of blinking in residential LED lighting systems-a phenomenon that has recently become a significant concern due to voltage sags caused by high-power household appliances. To combat this, we developed a two-stage LED converter with integrated anti-blinking circuitry, specifically designed for T5 LED indirect lighting fixtures. The first stage employs a Power Factor Correction (PFC) boost circuit to enhance voltage stability by aligning the voltage and current phases, thereby minimizing power losses. The second stage, a meticulously engineered DC-DC buck converter, ensures stable lighting despite electrical fluctuations. Rigorous testing has confirmed our converter's efficacy in maintaining consistent light output without blinking, thereby substantially improving user comfort and adhering to strict standards for harmonic distortion and electromagnetic compatibility. Our breakthrough provides a robust solution to a pressing issue, marking a significant advancement in LED lighting technology.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze thermal characteristics of the heat sinks to maximize the thermal diffusivity for LED floodlight. The 2 kind of samples were prepared by vapor chamber manufacturing technology using the heat pipe principle. It was analyzed the maximum temperature reduction effect and the thermal diffusion from the heat source depending on the types of chambers with 3 kind of working fluids. As a result, it was confirmed that thermal conductivity 23% increased, GVC-R type than IVC-R type.

  • Due to the declining LED price and environment-friendly energy policies, CO2 emission reduction and energy-saving, the LED lighting industry is accelerating rapidly. In particular, the needs for LED lamp, replacing the existing fluorescent lamp without exchange luminaire or driver circuits, are also rapidly increasing. Therefore, replacement for T8 fluorescent lamp, LED T8 lamp was developed and standardized. However, except LED T8 lamps, other lamps' regulations or standards were not enacted. Also, the stability of fluorescent lamp substitutable LED lamp is low due to the difference in electrical characteristics and mismatch between the existing fluorescent lamp ballast and LED lamp. Therefore, many are struggling while developing fluorescent lamp substitutable LED lamp. In this paper describes the properties of existing fluorescent lamp ballasts and the considerations while developing fluorescent lamp substitutable LED lamp : demonstrating its validity by experiments the developed fluorescent lamp substitutable LED lamp prototype.

  • Photopia, LightTools, and ASAP are typical software for optical design of a luminaire. Through using various lighting simulation software some different results can be found under the same conditions. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to compare simulated photometric data and values illuminance of different types of LED prism luminaires under the same conditions. Then, LED prism luminaires were divided into the linear type and the planar type. Also three kinds of prism angles were divided into $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, and $60^{\circ}$. In addition, the reasons for such differences were analyzed.

Melatonin Suppression under LED Lighting Focused on Spectral Power Distribution Differences

  • Changes in melatonin concentration levels by differences in CCT of white LED light focused on Spectral Power Distribution (SPD) differences compared to the same CCT of conventional fluorescent light were analyzed. For this, melatonin concentration levels in saliva samples were taken over four different experiments at seven-day intervals. In 71.4% of participants, it was confirmed that melatonin concentration is suppressed by exposure to light, and a slight difference was observed by different CCTs. In addition, Experiment II with a high CCT was relatively high in terms of the melatonin suppression rate compared to Experiment III. A key finding was the possibility that different SPDs under a particular CCT of white LED light compared to the same CCT of conventional fluorescent light could have the same effect on the melatonin suppression.
