  • This paper presents an adaptive controller using chaotic dynamic neural networks(CDNN) for nonlinear dynamic system. A new dynamic backpropagation learning method of the proposed chaotic dynamic neural networks is developed for efficient learning, and this learning method includes the convergence for improving the stability of chaotic neural networks. The proposed CDNN is applied to the system identification of chaotic system and the adaptive controller. The simulation results show good performances in the identification of Lorenz equation and the adaptive control of nonlinear system, since the CDNN has the fast learning characteristics and the robust adaptability to nonlinear dynamic system.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the structural relationships between adult educators' instructional leadership, learners' motivation and performance among those participants in education for urban-rural migration. The survey was conducted among 22 agricultural educational institutions in South Korea, and a total number of 1,109 learners responded to a questionnaire. In order to verify the hypothesized research model, the collected data were analyzed with structural equation modeling. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, adult educators' instructional leadership had a direct effect and an indirect effect on learners' performance. Second, adult educators' instructional leadership had a direct effect on learners' motivation. Third, learners' motivation had a direct effect on learners' performance.

  • The benefits of information technology cannot be obtained unless potential users utilize it for their work. This led to a lot of research works on computer system acceptance. But most of the works address the early stage of system introduction, leaving the learning effect on system acceptance unexplored. In this longitudinal study, two groups of novice and experienced users have been empirically investigated and compared for their acceptance of computer system and for the learning effect of actual usage. A research model based on the technology acceptance theory has been proposed and applied to the two groups. The result shows that the factor job relevance gets more important and the effect of user training on system acceptance diminishes as time passes. This finding may help introducing computer systems which can be easily accepted by users over the whole life cycle period of computer systems.

  • The present study examined whether Kang's (1999) model of the relationships among language learning strategy use and language proficiency for the Asian students could be applied to a more heterogeneous group. In Kang's study, he collected information of language learning strategies of 957 foreign students learning English as a second language in American colleges through a questionnaire. He also measured the subjects' language proficiency with the Institutional Testing Program TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). This study analyzed the same data without the limitation of cultural identity. Structural equation modeling was used to model the relationships among strategy use and language proficiency. Then, the model of the present study was descriptively compared with Kang's (1999) model for the Asian students. The overall flow of the relationship paths appeared to vary very little across the two models, which would have indicated that the generalizability of Kang's (1999) model could be extended more than originally examined. • Unlike a general inverted pendulum system which is moved on the cart the proposed inverted pendulum system in this paper has an inverted pendulum which is moved on the two-degree-of-freedom parallelogram link. The dynamic equation of the pendulum system activated by the DD(Direct Drive)motor includes many nonlinear terms and has the high degree of freedoms. The problem is followed hat the exact mathmatical equations can not be analized by a general linear theory However the neural network trained by a simple learning method can control the dynamic system with hard nonlinearities. Learning procedure is the backpropagation algorithm with super-visory signal. The plant inputs obtained by the designed neural network in this paper can stabilize the pendu-lem and get the servo control. Experiment results have proce the effectiveness of the designed neural network controller.

  • In this paper, we discuss an informal analysis of diffusion, global optimization properties of Langevine competitive learning neural network. In the view of the stochastic process, it is important that competitive learning gurantee an optimal solution for pattern recognition. We show that the binary reinforcement function in Langevine competitive learning is a brownian motion as Gaussian process, and construct the Fokker-Plank equation for the proposed neural network. Finally, we show that the informal analysis of the proposed algorithm has a possiblity of globally optimal. solution with the proper initial condition.

  • The potential of using genetic programming to predict engineering data has caught the attention of researchers in recent years. The present paper utilized weighted genetic programming (WGP), a derivative model of genetic programming (GP), to model the compressive strength of concrete. The calculation results of Abrams' laws, which are used as the design codes for calculating the compressive strength of concrete, were treated as the inputs for the genetic programming model. Therefore, knowledge of the Abrams' laws, which is not a factor of influence on common data-based learning approaches, was considered to be a potential factor affecting genetic programming models. Significant outcomes of this work include: 1) the employed design codes positively affected the prediction accuracy of modeling the compressive strength of concrete; 2) a new equation was suggested to replace the design code for predicting concrete strength; and 3) common data-based learning approaches were evolved into knowledge-based learning approaches using historical data and design codes.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine related variables that improve learning outcomes in collaborative learning. Based on literature reviews, emotional intelligence was used as a variable of personal character, communication ability and collective intelligence were used as variables in learning process, and learning satisfaction, and persistence were used as variables of learning outcomes. Data were collected from 3,475 students at A university, and were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results of this study are as follows: First, it turned out that emotional intelligence had a significant and positive impact on communication ability, collective intelligence, learning satisfaction, and persistence. Second, communication ability influenced collective intelligence and persistence positively. Third, collective intelligence influenced learning satisfaction and persistence positively. Fourth, learning satisfaction had a significant and positive impact on persistence. These findings offer basic data for collaborative learning by revealing the structural relationships among related variables that improve learning outcomes in collaborative learning of college students.

  • One of the biggest changes in 2007 Curriculum Revision is introduction of letter, equation, direct proportion and inverse proportion in fifth and sixth grade of mathematics. The purpose of this study is to provide some implications about teaching-learning method for introduction of letters, teaching and learning activities of equation between the 6th Curriculum and 2007 Curriculum Revision. The below conclusions were drawn from findings obtained in this study. First, the letter and expression were learned in fifth and sixth grade until 6th Curriculum and were learned in seventh grade in middle school of 7th Curriculum. But letter, equation are introduced in 2007 Curriculum Revision again. The overall contents of letter and expression were learned on the 'Relationship' domain in the 6th Curriculum, it were learned on the 'Letter and expression' domain in the 7th Curriculum and is learned on the 'Regularity and problem-solving' domain in the 2007 Curriculum Revision. Second, teaching method of these contents was to promise some definitions at first and then to solve exercises in the 6th Curriculum. But leaning was forced to improve student's problem-solving in the 7th Curriculum. To reduce student's pressure offers at a minimum mathematics terms and to provide problem situations to students who contact daily, it is emphasized on learner's communication in the 2007 Curriculum Revision. We want to be easily connected elementary mathematics and higher mathematics through this study about letter, equation. We recognized how we teach the letter and expression to reduce misconceptions and draw a transition from arithmetic thinking to algebraic thinking and want to be continue of another studies.
