e-Learning에서 정보시스템 특성과 사용자의 자기조절특성이 학습 성과에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Learning Performance on the Characteristics of Information System and User's Self-Regulated Characteristics in the e-Learning)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify which factors are important for learning performance and the moderating effects of self-regulated factors such as elaboration and organization between users characteristic(perceived usefulness, preparatory education, internet experience) and learning performance. To Accomplish these research purpose, this study performed a survey and 173 response were used for statistical analysis. The results of this study are as follows: First, 7 factors(ease of use, interactivity, accuracy, media richness, perceived usefulness, preparatory education, internet experience) had significant impacts on learning performance whereas reliability did not. Second, the moderating effects of self-regulated factors showed that Elaboration of self-regulated factors can be considered as a significant moderating variable between 2 factors(perceived usefulness, internet experience) and teaming performance.

Supervised learning-based DDoS attacks detection: Tuning hyperparameters

  • Two supervised learning algorithms, a basic neural network and a long short-term memory recurrent neural network, are applied to traffic including DDoS attacks. The joint effects of preprocessing methods and hyperparameters for machine learning on performance are investigated. Values representing attack characteristics are extracted from datasets and preprocessed by two methods. Binary classification and two optimizers are used. Some hyperparameters are obtained exhaustively for fast and accurate detection, while others are fixed with constants to account for performance and data characteristics. An experiment is performed via TensorFlow on three traffic datasets. Three scenarios are considered to investigate the effects of learning former traffic on sequential traffic analysis and the effects of learning one dataset on application to another dataset, and determine whether the algorithms can be used for recent attack traffic. Experimental results show that the used preprocessing methods, neural network architectures and hyperparameters, and the optimizers are appropriate for DDoS attack detection. The obtained results provide a criterion for the detection accuracy of attacks.

Scenario-based Learning: Experiences from Construction Management Courses

  • Scenario-based learning (SBL) has been used in a variety of training situations across different disciplines. Despite its seemly widespread use in construction management discipline, very few attempts have been made to explore its effectiveness and the respective students' learning experience. Using a survey research design, this study aims to investigate students' perceptions on SBL approach in construction management courses. The specific objectives are: (i) to identify the characteristics of a favourable SBL environment, and (ii) to explore the students' learning experience and effectiveness of the SBL approach. The results show that the four characteristics of a favourable SBL environment are: effective team formulation, constant engagement with lecturer, working in a group, and incorporation of motivational incentive for participation. The students really appreciated the opportunities to apply concepts learnt in the lectures in their SBL group work. Also, they perceived that the SBL approach is effective in developing their reflective and critical thinking skills, analytic and problem-solving skills and their ability to work as a team. These findings should facilitate more critical approaches to similar form of teaching methods.

문해교육 학습자의 학습만족도가 학습지속에 미치는 영향 (Literacy learner's satisfaction revel and effects on Learning consistence)

  • 본 연구는 문해교육 학습자의 학습만족도가 학습지속에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 울산광역시의 문해교육 학습자 206명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 문해교육 학습자의 학습만족도를 하위변인으로 살펴보면 학습환경에서 가장 높았고 교육강사, 학습결과, 학습내용 순으로 나타났으며, 일반적 특성에서는 학습참여가 길수록 학습내용과 학습결과에 높은 만족도를 보였다. 둘째, 문해교육 학습자의 일반적 특성이 학습지속에 미치는 영향을 살펴보면 성별은 차이가 없었으나, 70세 이상의 연령에서 학습지속의 높은 의사표시를 나타냈다. 셋째, 문해교육 학습자의 학습만족도가 학습지속에 미치는 상관관계를 살펴보면, 학습내용, 교육강사, 학습결과, 학습환경 순으로 상관관계를 나타냈다. 이상을 종합한 결과, 문해교육 학습자는 나이가 많고 학습참여가 길수록 학습만족도가 높았고, 일상생활에 필요한 경우 학습지속이 높았으며, 문해교육 학습자가 학습지속에 미치는 영향은 학습 내용임이 분석되었다.

  • 유비쿼터스 시대의 도래로 RFID/USN 기술이 다양한 분야에 널리 적용되고 있다. 교육분야에서도 RFID/USN 기술을 활용하여 교육환경의 개선에 관한 연구가 많이 나오고 있지만, 직접적인 학습에 응용하고 접목하는 연구는 미미한 편이다. 이에 본 논문은 RFID/USN 기술을 이용하여 학습자의 위치와 상황을 인지하고 그에 부합하는 중국어 상황학습 시스템을 제안한다. 영어에 비해 중국어가 가지고 있는 특징을 반영한 RFID 미들웨어는 PDA 기반에서 동작하는 모바일 RFID 미들웨어로 중국어 상황학습에 적합하도록 개발되었다. USN 환경에서는 센서 네트워크의 실시간 컴퓨팅 능력 및 무선 통신 능력을 통해 주변의 환경정보를 전송하여 학습자의 상황에 따른 상황학습에 도움을 주도록 설계하였다. 시스템에 관한 분석을 위해 소집단을 대상으로 하는 파일럿 테스트를 실시하였다.

Factors Affecting Student Performance in E-Learning: A Case Study of Higher Educational Institutions in Indonesia

  • This study aims to determine the factors influencing student performance using the teaching and learning process through e-learning based on the unified theory of acceptance and use technology (UTAUT). This study also sets out to propose additional variables to expand the UTAUT model to be more suitable to use in higher education. This research conducted a literature review, expert interviews, and a self-administered survey involving 200 students at tertiary institutions in Riau province, Indonesia. The questionnaire data were analyzed using SmartPLS 2. This study shows that UTAUT constructs, namely, social influence, facility conditions, and effort expectancy have a significant influence on student behavior and performance, while the performance expectancy variable shows no significant effect. The additional variables, including lecturer characteristics, external motivation, and organizational structure, directly affect student performance. However, concerning student behavior, motivation and environment are the only variables with a significant effect. The results of this study suggest the behavior deteminant such as lecturer characteristics, motivation and environment, and organizational structure improve student performance. This study investigates factors affecting the performance of university students through the learning employing e-learning by developing the UTAUT constructs to include the lecturer characteristics, motivation and environment, and organizational structure in improving student performance.

중학생의 수학학습양식 선호유형의 범주화와 학습 특성 비교 (Categorization of Middle school students' Math Learning Style Preferences and Comparison of Academic Characteristics)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 중학생용 수학학습양식 판별도구를 개발하여 선호유형을 범주화하는 것이다. 개발된 수학학습양식 판별도구로 976명의 중학생을 대상으로 설문조사하여 16가지의 수학학습양식 유형이 존재하는지를 확인하였고 이를 선행 연구들과 비교 분석하였다. 또한 수학학습양식의 각 요인에 따른 양식별 남녀 학습자, 학년별 학습자의 분포에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 분석하였다. 수학학습양식 판별도구를 통해서 학습자의 인지적 정의적 학습양식을 파악함으로써 수학학습에 대한 학습자 특성을 전체적으로 파악하여 획일화된 수업형태에서 벗어나 개별화 수업으로 나아갈 수 있는 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

  • This study is the second that aims at offering the basic information on the appropriate spatial organization of the special classes by looking at the relationship between a group of learning activities and a group of playing activities in Elementary and Middle Schools The learning space unit of the special classes should be more flexible for the various learning activities and be prepared in order to correspond to the needs of a territory for different learning appeared according to the degree of handicap, learning ability and the contents of learning. This study dealt with the learning space unit to tackle the problems of special classes. In fact, it is unwise to offer so many different kinds of learning spaces in every school. Due to the manifold and multiple characteristics of handicap, the problem of special classes should be approached by the overall educational system of special educational facilities rather than by a special classes space alone. In this respect, it can be said that this problem should be tackled by reorganization of the special classes in the community through specialization and network system of special class facilities in order to make more effective educational environment.

한국 간호대학생의 학습경험에 대한 통합적 문헌고찰: 질적연구를 중심으로 (An integrative review of learning experiences for nursing students in Korea: Based on qualitative research)

  • Purpose: In the Fourth Industrial Revolution, nursing education will change in a different way than before. The purpose of this study was to analyze characteristics of qualitative research on learning experiences for nursing students, and to suggest directions for nursing education geared to the needs of the future. Methods: An integrative review method was used. Based on Whittemore & Knafl's approach, five steps were applied. Results: Eleven papers met the selection criteria and had above average ratings in quality appraisals. Three characteristics related to the learning experiences of nursing students were derived: (1) overcoming difficulties in the learning process and concentrating on problem-solving, (2) improving self-efficacy through experiencing achievement in the learning process, (3) establishing nursing professionalism, (4) identifying the importance of self-directed and self-reflected learning, and (5) developing teamwork. Conclusion: This review found that various learning experiences were conducted for practical experience and learner-oriented learning. Nursing students overcame difficulties to achieve their learning outcomes, and developed their professionalism. Further study is required to comprehensively explore research including other countries, and the experiences of instructors.

Development and Application of Failure-Based Learning Conceptual Model for Construction Education

  • Recent demands from construction industry have emphasized the capability for graduates to have improved skills both technical and non-technical such as problem solving, interpersonal communication. To satisfy these demands, problem-based learning that is an instructional method characterized by the use of real world problem has been adopted and has proven its effectiveness various disciplines. However, in spite of the importance of field senses and dealing with real problem, construction engineering education has generally focused on traditional lecture-oriented course. In order to improve limitations of current construction education and to satisfy recent demands from construction industry, this paper proposes a new educational approach that is Failure-Based Learning for using combination of the procedural characteristics of the problem-based learning theory in construction technology education utilizing failure information that has the educational value in the construction area by reinterpreting characteristics of construction industry and construction failure information. The major results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) Educational effect of problem-based learning methodology and limitation of application in construction area 2) The educational value of the information on construction failure and limitation in application of the information in construction sector 3) Anticipated effect from application of the failure-based learning 4) Development and application of the failure-based learning conceptual model.
