  • Thermal stratification in the branch piping of power plants can be generated by turbulent penetration or by valve leakage. In this study, a numerical analysis was performed to estimate the thermal stratification phenomenon by in-leakage in the SIS branch piping of nuclear power plant. Leakage rate, leakage area and leakage location were selected as evaluation factors to investigate the thermal stratification effect. As a result of the thermal stratification effect according to leakage rate, the maximum temperature difference between top and bottom of the horizontal piping was evaluated to be about 185K when the valve leakage rate was about 10 times as much as the allowed leakage rate. For leakage rate more than 10 times the allowed leakage rate, the temperature difference was rapidly decreased due to the increased mixing effect. In the result according to leakage area, the magnitude of temperature difference was shown in order of $3\%,\;1\%\;and\;5\%$ leakage area of the total disk area. In the thermal stratification effect, according to the leakage location, temperature difference when leakage occurred in the lower disk was considerably higher than that of when leakage occurred in the upper disk.

  • In this study, various materials such as epoxy material, urethane material, cement material, and acrylic material are used to solve the water leakage occurring in underground structures. However, in the reality that the durability is insufficient and the effect is insufficient, it is aimed to improve the repairing effect by using acrylics. As a second study, it is confirmed that leachate can be used as a repair material by considering long time under water stability, elongation range test, fatigue resistance test, tube stability test, damage recovery performance ana temperature stability considering leakage environment for polyacrylate. In addition, this material is applied to Expansion Joint to perform leakage repair, and to verify the effect of repairing leakage by monitoring and visual observation of concrete humidification.

  • The effect of various drugs on the stability of the liposomal membrane of phosphatidylcholine and cholesterol was studied, employing the fluorescence self-quenching method. Calcein was entrapped into the phospholipid small unilamellar vesicles and the leakage of the fluorescence probe was monitored on adding the drug to the system. The results of the experiments showed that phenothiazine derivatives, some potent local anesthetics and surface active agents were very effective in inducing the leakage of calcein from the liposome. The leakage-inducing activity of these drug substances has been ascribed to their surface activity and the perturbation of the liposomal membrane by these substances. On the other hand drug substance with low surface activity or without amphiphilic moieties did not show any effect or only small effect on the leakage of calcein from the liposomes. The effect of lipid concentration on the stability of the liposomes was also investigated to show that the higher concentrations of lipid more drug was required to induce the leakage. The effect of surface charges of vesicles was also studied, and the results showed that the charge on the liposomes enhanced the stability of the liposomes against the leakage-inducing activity of these drug substances.

  • A computational analysis using Reynolds stress model in FLUENT is conducted to give a clear understanding of the effect of blade loading on the structure of tip leakage flow in a forward-swept axial-flow fan at design condition ($\phi$=0.25) and off-design condition ($\phi$=0.21 and 0.30). The roll-up of tip leakage flow starts near the minimum static wall pressure position, and the tip leakage vortex developes along the centerline of the pressure trough within the blade passages. Near tip region, a reverse flow induced by tip leakage vortex has a blockage effect on the through-flow. As a result, high momentum region is observed below the tip leakage vortex. As the blade loading increases, the reverse flow region is more inclined toward circumferential direction and the onset position of the rolling-up of tip leakage flow moves upstream. Because the casing boundary layer becomes thicker, and the mixing between the through-flow and the leakage jet with the different flow direction is enforced, the streamwise vorticity decays more fast with blade loading increasing. The computational results show that a distinct tip leakage vortex is observed downstream of the blade trailing edge at $\phi$=0.30, but it is not observed at $\phi$=0.21 and 0.25.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of flank and tip seal leakage in a scroll compressor for air-conditioners with R-22 under actual operating conditions. It is well known that the leakage has significant effect on the performance of the scroll compressor. Experiments were performed by using indirect method for measuring mass flow rate passing through flank and tip seal under actual operating conditions, In addition, an analytical model for tip seal leakage was developed to investigate tangential and radial leakage observed at grooves and contact points of tip seals. For low oil concentration, theoretical results were compared with experimental data to verify the analytical model. As a result, leakages through flank and tip seal parts were evaluated as afunction of pressure ratio, orbiting angle, discharge pressure, tip clearance, and leakage point. It was also found that the tip seal leakage was considerable even though the tip seal provided adequate sealing effect.

  • This paper presents a shape design process of Claw-Poles Stepping Motor(CPSM) using Modified Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Method(MMEC). Because this motor is adopted on low power devices, the motor size is a very small type. But it have a very strong permanent magnet. So magnetic saturation effect happens on yoke teeth of CPSM. Also this magnetic saturation effect causes more leakage flux component between yoke tooth have another pole. In this motor type, it is essential to design a shape of yoke teeth for avoiding the magnetic saturation effect and the leakage flux. In this paper, MMEC including the magnetic saturation effect and the leakage flux component was used for design process. Comparing with data calculated by using the MMEC and results analyzed by 3-D FEM, it could be stated that the design process with MMEC was reasonable. Finally, the model has the optimized shape of yoke teeth was compared with a conventional model for no-load Back EMF and torque at steady-state operation.

  • It was the electrical properties of ZnS treated by the annealing in a vaccum and an atmosphere conditions to reseached the leakage current effect of semiconductor devices. Most samples were shown the non-linear with unipolar properties, but the ZnS annealed at $100^{\circ}C$ in a vaccum was only observed no leakage current in a range of -20 V< voltage < 15 V. The crystallinity of ZnS with no leakage current was improved and optical property was also improved. Because the ambipolar characteristics and low leakage currents originated from the extension effect of a depletion width by electron-hole combination in the depletion layer.

  • In the rapidly changing business environment, knowledge has been recognized as a core asset for sustaining an organization's competitive advantage. In addition, knowledge sharing is one of the key elements of knowledge management, emphasizing external knowledge sharing beyond initial internal knowledge sharing. However, while knowledge management research emphasizes knowledge sharing, which is a positive aspect, research on preventing knowledge leakage that can have negative consequences is relatively lacking. Companies have tried to minimize the negative effects of knowledge management but many knowledge leakage accidents are still occurring. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effects of external factors based on deterrence theory and internal factors based on self-determination theory on knowledge leakage intention focusing on tacit knowledge. The results of the empirical analysis of 100 data sets collected through a scenario-based survey show that certainty of sanctions, social disapproval, and competence are found to have a significant effect on reducing tacit knowledge leakage intention. Furthermore, informal sanctions have a greater impact on tacit knowledge leakage intention than formal sanctions and external factors have a greater effect on tacit knowledge leakage intention than internal factors.

  • Leakage characteristics of two labyrinth seals with different configurations (straight vs stepped) were investigated. Leakage flows were predicted by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for the two configurations and compared with test data. A semi-analytical leakage prediction tool was also tried to predict the leakage. It was confirmed that the CFD gives quite good agreements with test data. The analytical tool also yielded similar leakage behaviors with test results, but the overall agreement with test data was not as good as that of the CFD. The effect of flow direction in the stepped seal on leakage flow was examined. The dependence of leakage performance, in terms of flow function, on the seal clearance size was investigated. Flow function decreased with decreasing clearance in the straight seal, while the trend was reversed in the stepped seal.

  • An experimental analysis using three-dimensional laser Doppler velocimetry(LDV) measurement and computational analysis using the Reynolds stress model in FLUENT are conducted to give a clear understanding of the effect of blade loading on the structure of tip leakage flow in a forward-swept axial-flow fan operating at the maximum efficiency condition ($\Phi$=0.25) and two off-design conditions ($\Phi$=0.21 and 0.30). As the blade loading increases, the onset position of the rolling-up of tip leakage flow moves upstream and the trajectory of tip leakage vortex center is more inclined toward the circumferential direction.
