Water absorption in water-cooled generator stator windings can cause serious accidents such as insulation breakdown and it brings a generator to the unexpected sudden outage. Accordingly, it is important to diagnose the water absorption of them in the effective operation of power plant. Especially, the capacitance value which is measured for diagnosis is very small so the special diagnosis methods like stochastic theory are needed. KEPRI developed the water absorption test equipment and diagnosis technology for them. In this paper we propose that water absorption test of generator stator windings using probability distributions. The proposed diagnosis technology is applied to the real system and the results of water absorption test for stator windings are agreed to them of water leak test.

Currently, in KS C IEC 60079-10-1, the leakage hole radius of secondary leakage is expressed as a recommendation. Underestimation of leak hole size can lead to underestimation of the calculated values for leak rates, and conservative calculations of leak hole sizes, which are considered for safety reasons, can be overestimated, resulting in an overestimated risk range. This too should be avoided. Therefore, a careful and balanced approach is necessary when estimating the size of leaking holes.Based on this logic, this study examines the stability by grasping the concentration inside the gas box when leaking dangerous substances as a result of experiments based on SEMI S6, an international safety standard applied in the semiconductor industry and The scope of explosion hazardous area was determined by applying the formula of KS C IEC 60079-10-1 according to SEMI F15 leak rate criteria and SEMI S6 leak rate criteria. Based on this, we will examine whether the exhaust performance needs to be improved as an alternative to FAB facilities that are difficult to apply to explosion hazards such as semiconductor industry.

In this study, an IoT inspection system that can be linked with a server was developed using a gas timer and ESP-01 Wi-Fi module installed on a gas valve in the home. The server environment of the gas leak IoT inspection system was installed with APM (Apache, PHP, MySQL) to collect gas pressure data by generation so that leakage checks could be performed. In order to control the gas leak IoT inspection system, the app inventory was used to manage the gas leak check value in real time. In addition, user convenience has been enhanced so that membership management, WiFi settings, and leakage check values can be checked through mobile apps. In order to manage subscribers by region, the user list was checked by logging in in in the administrator mode so that the information on whether or not the leak test was conducted and the results could be provided. In addition, when the user presses the gas leak check button, the pressure is automatically checked, and the measured value is stored in the server, and when a gas leak occurs, the leakage check is performed after alarm and repair so that it can be used if normal. In addition, in order to prevent overlapping membership, membership management can be performed based on MAC addresses.

Background: Extubation failure was associated with poor prognosis and high hospital mortality. Cuff leak test (CLT) has been proposed as a relatively simple method for detecting laryngeal obstruction that predispose toward postextubation stridor (PES) and reintubation. We examined the risk factors of extubation failure and evaluated the usefulness and limitation of CLT for predicting PES and reintubation. Methods: Thirty-four consecutive patients intubated more than 24 hours were examined. The subjects were evaluated daily for extubation readiness, and CLT was performed prior to extubation. Several parameters in the extubation success and failure group were compared. The accuracy and limitation of CLT were evaluated after choosing the thresholds values of the cuff leak volume (CLV) and percentage (CLP). Results: Of the 34 patients studied, 6 (17.6%) developed extubation failure and 3 (8.8%) were accompanied by PES. The patients who had extubation failure were more likely to have a longer duration of intubation and more severe illness. The patients who developed PES had a smaller cuff leak than the others: according to the CLV ($22.5{\pm}23.8$ vs $233.3{\pm}147.1ml$, p=0.020) or CLP ($6.2{\pm}7.3$ vs $44.3{\pm}24.7%$, p=0.013). The best cut off values for the CLV and CLP were 50ml and 14.7%, respectively. The sensitivity, negative predictive value, and specificity of CLT were relatively high, but the positive predictive value was low. Conclusion: The likelihood of developing extubation failure increases with increasing severity of illness and duration of intubation. A low CLV or CLP (<50ml or 14.7%) is useful in identifying patients at risk of PES, but the CLT is not an absolute predictor and should not be used an indicator for delaying extubation.

We report results of Extended Leak-Off Test (XLOT) conducted in a large diameter borehole, which is drilled for installation of deep borehole geophysical monitoring system to monitor micro-earthquakes and fault behavior of major fault zones in the southeastern Korean Peninsula. The borehole was planned to secure a final diameter of 200 mm (or more) at a depth of ~1 km, with 12" diameter wellbore to intermediate depths, and 7-7/8" (~200 mm) to the bottom hole depth. We drilled first the 12" borehole to approximately 504 m deep and installed American Petroleum Institute standard 8-5/8" casing, then annulus between the casing and bedrock was fully cemented. XLOT was carried out for several purposes such as confirming casing and cementing integrity, measuring rock stress states. To that end, we drilled additional 4 m long open hole interval to directly inject water and pressurize into the rock mass using the upper API casings. During the XLOT, flow rates and interval pressures were recorded in real time. Based on the logs we tried to analyze hydraulic conductivity of the test interval.

In order to apply the Leak-Before-Break(LBB)concept to nuclear piping, accurate estimation of J-integral and crack opening displacement(COD) is essential for complex loading, such as combined tension and bending. This paper proposes a new engineering method to estimate J-integral and the COD for circumferential through-wall cracked pipes subject to combined tension and bending loading. The proposed method to estimate the COD is validated against three published pipe test data, generated from a monotonically increasing bending load with a constant internal pressure, which shows excellent agreements.

Steam leakage is one of the major issues for the structural fracture of pipes of nuclear power plants. Therefore a method to inspect a large area of piping systems quickly and accurately is needed. In this paper, we proposed the method for the detecting steam leakage by using image signal processing. Our basic idea come from heat shimmer which shine with a soft light that looks as if it shakes slightly. To test the performance of this technique, experiments have been performed for simple heat source and steam generator. Results show that the proposed technique is quite powerful in the steam leak detection.

Water leak for the water-cooled generator stator windings affects seriously the availability and the reliability of power plants. Generally, water absorption test is conducted in the power plant during outage in order to confirm if leak part is in the bars or not. In this paper, it is described that the capacitance of winding bars is measured by using the developed water absorption instrument system and the water absorption of winding bars is evaluated by using the stochastic methods. The good results by proposed diagnosis technique can be got. It is expected that the reliability of diagnosis for water absorption is increased if the proposed methods are applied to evaluate the water absorption of stator winding bars.
With a specific model for the Helicoflex type metal gasket expected to be used in large ports of the KSTAR vacuum vessel, a sealing curve was obtained by measuring the flange tightening properties such as the correlations of the tightening torque(or linear load), displacement to the leak rate. From the experiment results it was found that the leak rate of the Helicoflex seal in the room temperature was bellow $2\times10^{-1}\textrm{mbar\cdot L/s}$ with a tightening torque of 2500kgf . cm using Ml8 bolts.
In this paper, we have implemented an overflow valve for EURO5 Type and the performance evaluation system based on IEEE802 protocol. On injecting a diesel oil into an engine, it is necessity for an overflow valve that can sustain an engine oil status in front of the engine. In order to evaluate the performance of overflow valve, we need the leak test system with IT. The leak test system checks the pressure, switching time and operating time.
