Purpose - The break-even point refers to the point where total profit and total cost coincide, and from this point on, the entrepreneur's decision-making takes a different route. Strategic decisions can be made for more efficient operation and eventually for more likelihood for growth and sustainability if a startup figures out when it recoups the investment and switches to a net profit. Design/methodology/approach - 748 creativity and skill-based sole proprietors in manufacturing industry were examined to demonstrate the effect of the entrepreneur's entrepreneurial experience and education level, the business launch preparation time, or the self-financing on the achievement of break-even point. Findings - While the business launch preparation time lowered the likelihood of reaching a break-even point, self-financing increased the likelihood. As a result of further analysis by subdividing into subgroups according to skill level, only the business launch preparation time was statistically significant in the highly skilled industries. In the low skilled industries, in addition to the business launch preparation time, the CEO's education level and the self-financing were statistically significant. Research implications or Originality - The longer the business launch preparation time, the higher the start-up cost, which increases the burden of initial cost recovery, and the agile response to market changes is thereby delayed, resulting in the business idea losing its appeal. Self-financing not only provides stability and strong motivation for the business operation but also promotes careful spending which contributes to the achievement of break-even point. In particular, it is found that practical experience is more useful than theoretical knowledge in low skilled industries. Due to the limitation of secondary data based on the recollection, the time required to reach a break-even point, percentage of financing sources, etc. may include cognitive errors. In addition, variables are not included that explain the characteristics of creativity and skill-based sole proprietorship, so it is necessary to exercise caution with the actual application.
Generally there is no law and liability system which applies particulary to commercial space ventures. There are several international treaties and national statutes which deal with space ventures, but their impact on the liability of commercial space ventures has not been significant. Every state law in the United States will impose both tort and contract liability on those responsible for injuries or losses caused by defective products or by services performed negligently. As with the providers of other products and services, those who participate in commercial space ventures have exposure to liability in both tort and contract which is limited to the extent of the resulting damage The manufacturer of a small and cheap component which caused a satellite to fail to reach orbit or to operate nominally has the same exposure to liability as the provider of launch vehicle or the manufacturer of satellite into which the component was incorporaded. Considering the enormity of losses which may result from launch failure or satellite failure, those participated in commercial space ventures will do their best to limit their exposure to liability by contract to the extent permitted by law. In most states of the United States, contracts which limit or disclaim the liability are enforceable with respect to claims for losses or damage to property if they are drafted in compliance with the requirements of the applicable law. In California an attempt to disclaim the liability for one's own negligence will be enforceable only if the contract states explicitly that the parties intend to have the disclaimer apply to negligence claims. Most state laws of the United States will refuse to enforce contracts which attempt to disclaim the liability for gross negligence on public policy grounds. However, the public policy which favoured disclaiming the liability as to gross negligence for providers of launch services was pronounced by the United States Congress in the 1988 Amendments to the 1984 Commercial Space Launch Act. To extend the disclaimer of liability to remote purchasers, the contract of resale should state expressly that the disclaimer applies for the benefit of all contractors and subcontractors who participated in producing the product. This situation may occur when the purchaser of a satellite which has failed to reach orbit has not contracted directly with the provider of launch services. Contracts for launch services usually contain cross-waiver of liability clauses by which each participant in the launch agrees to be responsible for it's own loss and to waive any claims which it may have against other participants. The crosswaiver of liability clause may apply to the participants in the launch who are parties to the launch services agreement, but not apply to their subcontractors. The role of insurance in responding to many risks has been critical in assisting commercial space ventures grow. Today traditional property and liability insurance, such as pre-launch, launch and in-orbit insurance and third party liability insurance, have become mandatory parts of most space projects. The manufacture and pre-launch insurance covers direct physical loss or damage to the satellite, its apogee kick moter and including its related launch equipment from commencement of loading operations at the manufacture's plant until lift off. The launch and early orbit insurance covers the satellite for physical loss or damage from attachment of risk through to commissioning and for some period of initial operation between 180 days and 12 months after launch. The in-orbit insurance covers physical loss of or damage to the satellite occuring during or caused by an event during the policy period. The third party liability insurance covers the satellite owner' s liability exposure at the launch site and liability arising out of the launch and operation in orbit. In conclusion, the liability in commercial space ventures extends to any organization which participates in providing products and services used in the venture. Accordingly, it is essential for any organization participating in commercial space ventures to contractually disclaim its liability to the extent permitted by law. To achieve the effective disclaimers, it is necessary to determine the applicable law and to understand the requirements of the law which will govern the terms of the contract. A great deal of funds have been used in R&D for commercial space ventures to increase reliability, safety and success. However, the historical reliability of launches and success for commercial space ventures have proved to be slightly lower than we would have wished for. Space insurance has played an important role in reducing the high risks present in commercial space ventures.
Ground complex composed of Assembly Complex(AC) and Launch Complex(LC) which is located on Oenarodo space center in Kohung is necessary for successful launching of KSLV-I. AC performs accepting of a KSLV-I 1st stage and 2nd stage, stage assembly, the integrated launch vehicle, the checked out, and all kinds of performance test, pre-launch tests and processing. At AC, the mechanical support equipments, that is called the technological equipments, are installed in the Launch Vehicle Assembly Test Building(LVATB). These technological equipments have diverse forms of an interface with mechanical/electric device of the launch vehicle and have to provide a condition and the performance guarantee of an optimum in the launching operation process. In this paper, the requirements specification and manufacturing performance test for the mechanical support equipments which are used in the assembly/disassembly and test of the launch vehicle are introduced.

In order to inject satellites into a target orbit, launch vehicles should have a precise attitude and control system capable of controlling three axises of pitch, yaw and roll. For launch vehicles, there are two types of attitude control system currently in popular use; the first one is a cold gas method, and the other is a liquid propulsion system using a single and dual property propellant. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of thrust control system using said propellant, thereby providing for a rationale for its application to the upper stages of launch vehicles, in terms of the simplicity of the system, economics of structure and operation.
Recently, playing musical instruments in the application or website which is a sort of playing has been catching on for ordinary people even though they don't know how to play musical instruments. It appears that such playing has randomness which is quite natural. Thus, 'Random operation method' which induces the observing audience and changes them to manage actively is developed and suggested for the image system in this paper by utilizing Launch Pad, based on theoretical background and case analysis. Step Sequencer was developed in two ways: the image system is realized with Step Sequencer by connecting external program or made as clips to arrange them for each key on Launch Pad and implement, which is keyboard launch type.
A passive launch and on-orbit vibration isolator using SMA(Shape Memory Alloy) washer for both the structural safety of the micro-vibration source by attenuating the transmitted force under launch loads and the micro-vibration isolation during their on-orbit operation has been proposed, which does not require the additional launch locking mechanism. To measure the characteristics of SMA mesh washer, we performed compressive loading tests with a single SMA mesh washer and a vibration isolator using SMA mesh washer. The numerical equivalent model of vibration isolator using SMA mesh washer composed of two spring and viscous damping elements has been verified that both stiffness and viscous damping varied with respect to compressed deformations. In addition, the effectiveness of launch loads and micro-vibration reduction has been investigated through the dynamic characteristics measurement test of cooler assembly combined with passive vibration isolator.

Recently, a new space era has evolved in which commercial companies' led space development has begun. In this era, commercial companies actively participate in space development as the size of the small satellite market and small launch vehicle market is expanding. Through space development, developed countries are making efforts to reduce development, production, and operation costs to secure the competitiveness of small launch vehicles. In this study, the development trend of small launch vehicles and required technologies for space development were analyzed and summarized. Thus, research and development is urgently needed so that spin-on technologies, such as electric pumps and additive manufacturing, can be utilized for space development.
The KOMPSAT, which is scheduled to be launched by Taurus launch vehicle in late November of 1999, will be in a sun-synchronous orbit with an altitude of 685km, eccentricity of 0.001, inclination of 98deg and local time of ascending node of 10:50 a.m. Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and Daewoo Heavy Industry had jointly developed a KOMPSAT Simulator as a component of the KOMPSAT Mission Control Element. The MCE had been delivered to Korea Aerospace Research Institute for the KOMPSAT ground operation. It is being used for training of KOMPSAT ground station personnel. Each of satellite subsystems and space environment were mathematically modeled in the simulator. To verify the overall function of KOMPSAT simulator, a Launch and Early Orbit Phase(LEOP) operation simulations have been performed. The simulator had been verified through various tests such as functional level test, subsystem test, interface test, system test, and acceptance test. In this paper, simulation results for LEOP operations to verify flight software adapted into simulator, satellite subsystem models and environment models are presented.
Successful launch requires state-of-the-art launch vehicle technology and constant test operations, However, the meteorological threat to the launch vehicle flight trajectory is also an important factor for launch success. Atmospheric stability above the Naro Space Center at the this time is very important, especially because the initial flight operation can determine the success of the launch. Moreover, during the flight of launch vehicle with rapid pressure and thrust into the atmosphere, convection activity in the atmosphere may create environmental conditions that cause severe weather threats such as thunderstorms. Hence, studies of atmospheric instability characteristics over the Naro Space Center are a necessary part of successful launch missions. Therefore, the main aims of this study were to (1) verify the atmospheric stability index and convection activity characteristics over the Naro Space Center using radiosonde data observed from 2007 to 2018 by the Naro Space Center, (2) analyze changes in the atmospheric stability index according to monthly and seasonal changes, and (3) assess how the calculated atmospheric stability index is related to actual thunderstorm occurrence using statistical analysis. Additionally, we aimed to investigate the atmospheric characteristics above the Naro Space Center through the distribution chart of the atmospheric stability index during summer, when convection activity is highest. Finally, we assessed the relationship between lightning occurrence and unstable atmospheric conditions, through predictability analysis performed using the lightning observation data of the Korea Meteorological Administration.
Securing safety in the maritime danger zone around the launch site before a launch is a fundamental requirement. If maritime safety is not ensured, the launch is halted or postponed. However, challenges have arisen in the process of securing public safety at sea due to factors such as the increasing population engaged in water leisure activities. These challenges include unauthorized entry of vessels into controlled areas, unauthorized access by water leisure activity participants, and non-compliance with regulations. In this paper, we employed the Delphi/Analytic Hierarchy Process to survey 22 experts, including professionals in launch vehicle development and launch site operation, to identify 10 factors posing threats to maritime public safety. Additionally, we identified five issues that need improvement for ensuring maritime safety. This study verified the consistency of expert opinions and conducted an analysis of importance and prioritization, objectively confirming the necessity for amendments to relevant laws or the enactment of new laws concerning the establishment and control of danger zones around launch sites.
