겹판스프링을 이용한 횡방향 진동절연댐퍼 (A lateral vibration damper using leaf springs)

  • This paper intoduces a new lateral damper, which is simply called "leaf spring damper(LSD)", using the leaf springs. The principle and the contruction of this novel damper is described in detail. The theoretical analysis of the damper is presented. The advantages of this novel damper are discussed. Experiments are performed on four dampers which have the different stiffness and damping coeficients respectively. The dynamic coefficients of the dampers and the temperature rise of working fluid are measured as the vibration speeds. The experimental results are compared with the theoretical results and it is found a good agreement.agreement.

  • In this paper, we studied about the effects of the rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid with a moving mass. The influences of a rotating angular velocity, the velocity of fluid flow and moving mass on the dynamic behavior of a cantilever pipe have been studied by the numerical method. The equation of motion is derived by using the Lagrange's equation. The cantilever pipe is modeled by the Euler-Bemoulli hew theory. When the velocity of a moving mass is constant, the lateral tip-displacement of a cantilever pipe is proportional to the moving mass and the angular velocity. In the steady state, the lateral tip-displacement of a cantilever pipe is more sensitive to the velocity of fluid than the angular velocity, and the axial deflection of a cantilever, pipe is more sensitive to the effect of a angular velocity.

  • The effect of initial combined load on the lateral free vibration of arches is investigated. For the analysis, P-M interaction curves for the arches are obtained. The arches are circular arches which have constant cross-section and simply supported. Also, the arches are subjected both radial uniform distributed load which results in an axial compression on the cross-section and end moments that cause uniform bending action at the same time. All analysis are performed by finite element method based on Kang and Yoo's curved beam theory.

  • Based on the string, Euler beam, and Timoshenko beam theories, the transfer functions of axially translating web system to predict the lateral tracking are introduced in this paper. In addition, total transfer function of a multi-span web handling system is developed by the combination of the transfer functions of each single span. Experiments and computations are carried out and the results obtained for the Timoshenko beam model are compared with those of other models. The comparison indicates that the predictions from the Timoshenko and Euler beam models are quite different from that of the classical string model in both the gain and phase response. The results are expected to help in the development of high fidelity models of web tracking systems within a general computational framework.

Experimental and numerical identification of flutter derivatives for nine bridge deck sections

  • This paper presents the results of a study into experimental and numerical methods for the identification of bridge deck flutter derivatives. Nine bridge deck sections were investigated in a water tunnel in order to create an empirical reference set for numerical investigations. The same sections, plus a wide range of further sections, were studied numerically using a commercially available CFD code. The experimental and numerical results were compared with respect to accuracy, sensitivity, and practical suitability. Furthermore, the relevance of the effective angle of attack, the possible assessment of non-critical vibrations, and the formulation of lateral vibrations were studied. Selected results are presented in this paper. The full set of raw data is available online to provide researchers and engineers with a comprehensive benchmarking tool.

  • This paper studied on the yaw motion of the gantry crane which is used for the automated container terminal. Though several problems are occurred in driving of gantry crane, they are solved by the motion by the operator. But if the gantry crane is unmanned, it is automatically controlled without any human operation. There are two types, cone and flat typo in driving wheel shape. In cone type, lateral vibration and yaw motion of crane are issued. To bring a solution to these problems, the dynamic equation of the gantry crane driving mechanism is derived and it used PD(Proportional-Derivative) controller to control the lateral vibration. The simulation result of the driving mechanism using the Runge-Kutta method is presented in this paper.

  • In this paper, the finite element analysis model of the mult-axial wheel durability test configuration is created using SAMCEF. Mooney-Rivlin 2nd model is applied to the tire model, and the variation of the air pressure inside the tire is considered. Vertical load, lateral load and camber angle are applied to the simulation model. The tire rotates because of the friction contact with a drum, and reaches its maximum speed of 60 km/h. The dynamics stress results of the simulation and experiment are compared, and the reliability of the simulation model is verified.

  • The axial bearing using two ring type permanent magnets to support the weight of a flywheel is proposed to reduce the bearing loss in a flywheel energy storage , system. Two permanent magnet makes stable force in axial direction but unstable force in lateral direction. The lateral unstable stiffness is identified quantitatively using flux analysis, and then through the rotor dynamic analysis on a rigid flywheel system the unstable effects on the system by the stiffness is investigated.

  • This study was tested for the bending stress analysis of Experimental stress analysis on various ankle foot orthoses(AFOs) was fulfilled. Stress was measured by Strain gages which were attached on 8 region in AFOs Results revealed that the peak compressive/tensile stress in the orthoses occured in the lateral region of neck. The Stress Analysis system was made by the electronic oscilloscope, strain gage sensors, amplifier, A/D converter, PC with C program It will be able to using the important data in splint design. Selected AFOs were some different materials but all have same shape except one type(orthosis with joint). C program Is used for managing data. Thus lateral side of the neck region is failed easily.

  • To solve a problem of micro drive due to small size and portability, it is necessary to understand and to investigate micro drive widely ,deeply. So, we performed modal analysis of suspension of micro drive, and load/unload experiment for Input current to VCM coil and disk speed. To determine the effect of ramp profile, curve fitting of lateral speed is performed with equation of speed. The results indicate that small load/unload speeds decrease the number of head/disk contacts, and during unloading process, low disk speed increase the number of head/disk contacts.
