The purpose of this study was to analysis the stress distribution induced by three unit PFM bridges and various cantilever bridges replacing maxillary latersal incisor. The simplified two-dimensional photoelastic models used for this study was contructed in the folio- wing way. CR/R ratio was designed to be 1 : 1, 1 : 1.25 and 1 : 1.5. The pontics of cantilever bridge supported by maxillary canines consisted of wrap-around type, rest-extension type, and simple type. 3-unit PFM bridge was constructed with traditional method. 1kg vertical static load was applied on the center of the incisal edge of the pontic. The stress pattern was examined and recorded by photography. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. The magnitude of stress on the abutment root apex area of a traditional 3-unit bridge was the lowest. 2. The model of cantilevered pontic with a rest showed the relatively well distributed stress around the abutment tooth. The model with simple pontic generated the greatest stress concentration in the supporting structure of the abutment tooth. 3. As the height of bone level reduced, the rotational and vertical force increased around the abutment tooth. 4. The stress concentration of the 3-unit bridges occured on the root apex and stress concentration of the cantilever briage occured on the root apex and cervix area, 5. In the case of the cantilever bridge, stress concentrated distally on the root apex area of the abutment tooth and additional stress was observed mesially on the upper part of the root. Especially in the case of the simple pontic, was phenomenon was more apparent than the others. 6. Force applied to cantilevered pontic was transmitted to the adjacent central incisor through the contact surface. Stress was markedly observed on the mesial cervix area in the case of simple pontic and on the root apex area in the case of wrap-around type and rest-extension type.

Water availability in rainfed lowlands (RFL) is strongly affected by climate change. In RFL, rice plants are exposed to soil moisture fluctuations (SMF) but rarely to simple progressive drought as widely believed. Typical RFL field is characterized by a about 5-cm thick high bulk density hardpan layer underneath the cultivated layer at about 20 cm depth that impedes deep root development. Root system has the ability to develop in response to changes in SMF, known as phenotypic plasticity. We hypothesized that genotypes that can adapt to RFL have root plasticity. The roots can sharply respond to re-wetting after drought period and thus penetrate the hardpan layer when the hardpan is wet and so becomes relatively soft, and thus access water under the hardpan. This study aimed to identify CSSLs derived from a cross between Sasanishiki and Habataki which adapted to such RFL conditions. We used 39 CSSLs together with the parent Sasanishiki, which were grown in hydroponics and pot under transient soil moisture stresses (drought and then rewatering), and compared with continuously well-watered (WW) (control) up to 14 days after sowing (DAS), and 20 DAS, respectively. Based on the results of hydroponics and pot experiments, we selected a few lines, which were grown in the soil-filled rootbox with artificial hardpan layer and without artificial hardpan. For the rootbox without artificial hardpan, plants were grown under WW and transient soil moisture stresses for 49 DAS. While the rootbox with artificial hardpan, the plants were grown under WW (control) and SMF (WW up to 21 DAS, 1st drought (22-36 DAS), rewatering (37-44 DAS), and followed by 2nd drought (45-58 DAS)). Among the 39 CSSLs, only CSSL439 (SL39) consistently showed significantly higher shoot dry weight (SDW) than Sasanishiki under transient soil moisture stress conditions as well as SMF conditions in all the experiments. Furthermore, under WW, SL39 consistently showed no significant differences from Sasanishiki in shoot and root growth in most of traits examined. SL39 showed significantly greater total root length (TRL) than Sasanishiki under transient soil moisture stress, which is considered as phenotypic plasticity in response to rewatering after drought period. Such plastic root development was the key trait that effectively contributed to root elongation and branching during the rewatering period and consequently enhanced the root to penetrate hardpan layer when the soil penetration resistance at hardpan layer reduced. In addition, using the rootbox with artificial hardpan layer ($1.7g\;cm^{-3}$, heavily compacted), SL39 showed greater root system development than Sasanishiki under SMF, which was expressed in its significantly higher TRL, total nodal RL, and total lateral RL at hardpan layer as well as at below the hardpan layer. These results prove that SL39 has plasticity that enables its root systems to penetrate hardpan layer in response to rewatering. Under SMF, such root plasticity contributed to its higher gs and Pn.
The purpose of this study to evaluate several wann gutta-percha filling techniques using weight changes of resin blocks before and after canal filling in ribbon shaped canal. Simulated ribbon shaped root canals in 30 transparent resin blocks were instrumented to #40 using 06 taper Profile. 15 resin blocks were obturated with gutta-percha using cold lateral condensation. Warm lateral condensation using the Endotec II was then accomplished on the same 15 blocks. Another 15 resin blocks were obturated using the System B.(omitted)
The authors had a case report of radicular cyst on left maxillary lateral incisor root apex region. Left maxillary central incisor, lateral incisor, canine was extracted, cyst was curetted. The prosthodontic treatment was good clinical results applying fixed bridge and the gum plate of resin in the case of massive alveolar bone loss.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the apical seal produced by low temperature($70^{\circ}C$) injection gutta percha technique(ULTRAFIL) with & without sealer, warm latero-vertical cindensation technique (ENDOTEC) with & without sealer, and the lateral condensation technique with sealer. 100 extracted, single rooted human teeth were divided into 5 groups and root canals were enlarged & obturated according to the purpose of this study. Obturated teeth were immersed in 2.5% methylene blue for 48hrs. at $37^{\circ}C$ incubator and split. The apical sealing ability was evaluated by measuring the degree of dye penetration into the canal. The results were as follows: 1. All group showed varying depth of dye penetration. 2. There were no significant difference among Group I (lateral condensation), Group II (ULTRAFIL with sealer) & Group IV (ENDOTEC with sealer) (P>0.05). 3. There were less dye penetration when used in conjunction with sealer (P<0.001).

We report the surgical endodontic treatment of a maxillary first premolar with a lateral lesion that originated from an accessory canal. Although lesions originating from accessory canals frequently heal with simple conventional endodontic therapy, some lesions may need additional and different treatment. In the present case, conventional root canal retreatment led to incomplete healing with the need for further treatment (i.e., surgery). Surgical endodontic management with a fast-setting calcium silicate cement was performed on the accessory canal using a dental operating microscope. At the patient's 9-month recall visit, the lesion was resolved upon radiography.
This paper studied the Pingzuo(平坐) platform structure of the two story building covered with one roof during the early period of Tang dynasty, based on wall paintings, stone pagodas, brick buildings and wooden buildings might be influenced by the Tang style. Instead of Chazhuzao(叉柱造), the typical column linkage in the Song, Liao and Jin buildings, it put the boundary column just behind the wall of a bracket set. Otherwise, the column root might be seen from outside, because its bracket set was still using Touxinzao(偸心造) which did not have a lateral arm on it. And its flooring structure was also different from the Song style, it used cantilever beams instead of lateral beams supported by bracket sets.

Yield and ginsenoside contents of ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) is affected by light intensity and quality, and the color and the thickness of PE shading net when PE net is utilized for shading material. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of light quality on root yield and ginsenoside contents off-year-old ginseng by using polyethylene shading net with each blue and yellow color, Spectral irradiance under blue and yellow shading net showed the peak at 498 nm and 606 nm, respectively, which made distinct difference in light quality. Heat injury ratio of blue shading net was increased distinctly more than that of yellow shading net in summer season because of higher transmitted quantum (23%)and air temperature (0.3 $^{\circ}$C) in blue shading net than those of yellow shading net. Chlorophyll content and leaf area under yellow shading net were higher than those of blue shading net, and its heat injury ratio was lower than those of blue. These effects may led to 48% higher increase of root yield under yellow shading net than that under blue shading net. The content of total ginsenoside in taproot was not significantly differed between blue and yellow shading net, while the content in lateral and fine root was significantly increased in blue shading net compared to yellow shading net. PDM ratio of blue shading net showed more significant increase in lateral root than that of yellow shading net. All of Rb$_1$/Rg$_1$ ratio in three parts of root under blue shading net was higher than that of yellow shading net, but there were no significant increase in the ratio of lateral root.
In this study, the contents of ginsenoside were compared according to the red ginseng extract times to provide basic information for developing nutraceutical foods using red ginseng. The highest total ginsenoside contents of the main, lateral, and fine root extracts were 23.04, 65.68, and 295.92 mg/100 mL when extracted at $75^{\circ}C$ for 21, 18, and 12 hours, respectively. The total ginsenoside content showed a tendency to decrease as the extraction times were increased. The highest Rb1 and Rg1 contents of the main, lateral, and fine root extracts were 5.76, 28.39, and 117.83 mg/100 mL when extracted at $75^{\circ}C$ for 18, 15, and, 12 hours, respectively, and their highest Rb2 and Re contents were 5.76, 28.39, and 117.83 when extracted under the same conditions. The prosapogenin content of the red ginseng extract increased along with the extraction time. The highest total ginsenoside extraction ratios of the main, lateral, and fine root extracts of the red ginseng at $75^{\circ}C$ were 21.3, 21.1, and 67.1%, respectively.
Objective : There are various surgical approaches to far-lateral lesions in the L5-S1 intervertebral space. Of these is the validity of a paramedian tangential approach is being investigated in this study. Methods : A retrospective study was conducted on 25 patients who had been diagnosed as having a far-lateral L5-S1 disc herniations, osteophyte, costal process hypertrophy, and had undergone a paramedian tangential approach from November 1999 through December 2003. The degree of symptoms and improvement were compared via the visual analog pain scale, before and after surgery. Results : This study included 4 males and 21 females with a mean age of $62{\pm}11.8$ years old. The average follow-up period after surgery was $8.2{\pm}2.7$ months. The visual analog pain scale taken before surgery was $6.7{\pm}1.1$ points, while the post-surgical scale was $2.4{\pm}0.9$ points showing a significant degrease [p < 005]. There were no complications that developed during surgery. Conclusion : A paramedian tangential approach is less invasive in the soft tissue than that of the median approach. This approach may effectively reduce nerve root compression and expand intervertebral foramens, and is devoid of the risk of spinal instability after surgery. The authors suppose that a paramedian tangential approach is quite an effective technique to relive compression in the far-lateral L5-S1 intervertebral space.
