  • Surveyors has desired eagerly surveying technology and equipments which are able to acquire a lot of data easily, quickly and precisely. Laser has the merits that is able to obtain a large number of measurements with high precision in a short time and one of concrete realizations is a terrestrial laser scanner called Terrestrial LiDAR. This paper describes 3D modelling of a old architecture which was conducted using a Z-F laser system and the result of positioning analysis. Use of terrestrial laser scanner is much more efficient than existing photogrammetry in measuring and database constructing for preservation and restoration of cultural assets as well as for deformation monitoring and safety diagnosis of structures.

  • Digital 3D Real Object Duplication System (RODS) consists of 3D Scanner and Solid Freeform Fabrication System (SFFS). It is a device to make three-dimensional objects directly from the drawing or the scanning data. In this research, we developed an office type SFFS based on Three Dimensional Printing Process and an industrial SFFS using Dual Laser. An office type SFFS applied sliding mode control with sliding perturbation observer (SMCSPO) algorithm for control of this system. And we measured process variables about droplet diameter measurement and powder bed formation etc. through experiments. In case of industrial type SFFS, in order to develop more elaborate and speedy system for large objects than existing SLS process, this study applies a new Selective Dual-Laser Sintering (SDLS) process and 3-axis Dynamic Focusing Scanner for scanning large area instead of the existing f lens. In this process, the temperature has a great influence on sintering of the polymer. Also the laser parameters are considered like that laser beam power, scan speed, and scan spacing. Now, this study is in progress to evaluate the effect of experimental parameters on the sintering process.

  • Laser scanners are widely used for reverse engineering and inspection of freeform parts in industry such as motors, electronic products, dies and molds. Due to the lack of measuring software and positioning device, the laser scanning processes have been erroneous and inconsistent. In order to automate measuring processes, an automated scan plan generation software and a proprietary hardware are developed. In this paper, an automated laser scanning system using a 3-axis motorized stage is proposed. In the scan planning step, scan directions, paths, and the number of scans are generated considering optical and mechanical parameters. In the scanning step, the generated scan plan is downloaded into the laser scanner and the motorized stage and the points on the surface are captured automatically. Finally, the point data set is analyzed to evaluate the performance of the system.

  • 3D vibration measurement is achieved using one laser scanning vibrometer(LSV) and Laser scanner(LS) by moving the LSV to three arbitrarily locations from the principle that vibration analysis based on the frequency domain is independent of the vibration signal based on time domain. The proposed system has the same effect as using three sets of LSVs. It has an advantage of reducing equipment costs. Analytical approach of obtaining in-plane and out-of-plane vibration of surface is introduced using geometrical relations between three LSV coordinates and vibration measured at three different locations.

  • The micro fabrication on the mold material using picosecond laser ablation processing has been studied. We used the two kind of system with picosecond laser. First one is two mirror type scanner and telecentric f-theta lens. Second one is X-Y stage and objective lens. By using these system, the $100{\mu}m$ size chess patterning and $2{\mu}m$ size patterning was fabricated. Especially $2{\mu}m$ size patterning on the mold material can be used as the decorative rainbow color logo for industrial field. In this paper, it is proved the picosecond laser is effective tool for the laser ablation processing.

  • In this thesis, a controller which is appropriate for uses of scanner with small error and high speed response is proposed. Recently the application field of scanner is on increase. In case of applying to laser marking, the error of scanner has bad effect to quality. Also it can make difficulties in applying laser show that makes images, unless the high speed response is not realized. For these reasons, a controller that can adjust error and response is need. Because scanner must respond to step input that is put between a few millisecond and hundreds of microsecond with small revolution angle ranges, it is advantageous to have small inertia and large torque. First, the property of scanner is treated, and then using Op-amp and passive components and applying feedback compensation PID controller to design, the effects by controller coefficients are introduced.

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy and reliability of measurements performed using two different software programs on digital models generated using two types of plaster model scanners (a laser scanner and a computed tomography [CT] scanner). Methods: Thirty plaster models were scanned with a 3Shape laser scanner and with a Flash CT scanner. Two examiners performed measurements on plaster models by using digital calipers and on digital models by using Ortho Analyzer (3Shape) and Digimodel® (OrthoProof) software programs. Forty-two measurements, including tooth diameter, crown height, overjet, overbite, intercanine and intermolar distances, and sagittal relationship, were obtained. Results: Statistically significant differences were not found between the plaster and digital model measurements (ANOVA); however, some discrepancies were clinically relevant. Plaster and digital model measurements made using the two scanning methods showed high intraclass coefficient correlation values and acceptable 95% limits of agreement in the Bland-Altman analysis. The software used did not influence the accuracy of measurements. Conclusions: Digital models generated from plaster casts by using laser and CT scanning and measured using two different software programs are accurate, and the measurements are reliable. Therefore, both fabrication methods and software could be used interchangeably.

  • Informatization and visualization technology for real space is a key technology for construction of geospatial information. Three-dimensional (3D) modeling is a method of constructing geospatial information from data measured by various methods. The 3D laser scanner has been mainly used as a method for acquiring digital elevation data. On the other hand, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which has been attracting attention as a promising technology of the fourth industrial revolution, has been evaluated as a technology for obtaining fast geospatial information, and various studies are being carried out. However, there is a lack of evaluation on the quantitative work efficiency and data accuracy of the data construction technology for 3D geospatial modeling. In this study, various analyses were carried out on the characteristics, work processes, and accuracy of point cloud data acquired by a 3D laser scanner and an unmanned aerial vehicle. The 3D laser scanner and UAV were used to generate digital elevation data of the study area, and the characteristics were analyzed. Through evaluation of the accuracy, it was confirmed that digital elevation data from a 3D laser scanner and UAV show accuracy within a 10 cm maximum, and it is suggested that it can be used for spatial information construction. In the future, collecting 3D elevation data from a 3D laser scanner and UAV is expected to be utilized as an efficient geospatial information-construction method.
