A Experimental Study on High Temperature Tensile Property of High Strength Steel (고강도강재의 고온인장특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, high temperature tensile properties of high tensile strength steels(POSTEN60, POSTEN80) were investigated by elevated temperature tensile test. According toe the results, high temperature tensile strength of POSTEN60 deteriorated slowly to 100$^{\circ}C$. As the temperature went up the tensile strength became better because of blue shortness and it deteriorated radically after reached to the maximum value around 300$^{\circ}C$. For the POSTEN80, high temperature tensile strength deteriorated slowly to 200$^{\circ}C$.As the temperature went up the tensile strength became better and it deteriorated slowly to 600$^{\circ}C$ after reached to the maximum value around 300$^{\circ}C$. Strain of high tensile strength steels at the elevated temperature increased radically after the mercury rose to 600$^{\circ}C$. The strain hardening ratio of POSTEN60 was larger then that of POSTEN80 at the elevated temperature as in the case at the room temperature and it became smaller radically after the mercury rose to 400$^{\circ}C$.

  • In this paper, engine-CVT consolidated control algorithm was developed. Engine -CVT control strategy suggested uses throttle control based on power difference and CVT ratio control based in CVT ratio map. Simulation results showed that the larger the rate of CVT ratio, the better the engine performance in the optimal operation line. Also, it was found that the engine performance where the magnitude of the acceleration changes abruptly depends on the magnitude of the rate of CVT ratio. Comparing the results of CVT control only without engine control, the engine-CVT control algorithm suggested in this work showed better performance demonstrating that the consolidated control algorithm should be required for the engine optimal operation.

  • Sweet dough bread is made by using sponge & dough method with the sweet dough formula which consists of wheat gluten and baking powder. The effect of wheat gluten and baking powder to the bread has been studied after the dough frozen, stored, thawed, fermented. and baked. The bread quality has been evaluated by measuring the product volute and also by the sensory evaluation after baking. When 4% of wheat gluten and 4% of baking powder were added into the dough. the bread has a larger volume than that of 2% wheat gluten and 2% baking powder in volume. However. wheat gluten shows better result than baking powder in terms of volume. In sensory evaluation, the bread has higher score when 2% of wheat gluten and 2% of baking powder were added into the dough than that of 4% wheat gluten and 4% baking powder. Consequently, breads show better result when 2% wheat gluten and 2% baking powder were added into the dough than that of 4% wheat gluten and 4% baking powder.

  • Bond between reinforcing bars and the surrounding concrete is supposed to safely transfer load in the design process of reinforced concrete structures. Bar with high relative rib area will be studied further not only static load but also dynamic loading conditions to sustain better performance of bond for reinforced concrete structures under earthquake. To determine the bond behavior of high ribbed bars in beam and column joints under repeated loads, 31 pullout specimens were tested. Bond strength increases as relative rib area increases. Also the effect of relative rib area on bond is larger in cyclic loading than in monotonic loading.

  • In this paper, the study of the optimum design for a geometry of the handle bar to obtain a high stiffness and light weight is investigated, using EDISON simulation program. High stiffness and weight lightening are considered as the major performance indicators of the component of the bicycle. Four design factors and three levels of the design factors are selected for the structural optimization and experiments are designed using the orthogonal array of L9 by Taguchi method. We calculated SN ratio of larger-the-better and smaller-the-better characteristics from FEA results and analysed the effects of design factors on characteristics. We choosed the optimum level of design factors based on deflection and safety factor. Comparing the results of FE analysis with converted value of predicted SN ration, we made sure for reliability of Taguchi method and FE method for structural optimization.

  • Particles reinforced MMCs have higher specific modulus, higher specific strength, better properties at elevated temperatures and better wear resistance than monolithic metals. But the coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) of Al6061 is 5 times larger than that of SiCp. The discrepancy of CTE makes some residual stresses inside of MMCs. This work investigates Si$C_p$/Al6061 composites at high temperatures in the microscopic view by three-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element analyses and compares the analytical results with the experimental ones. The theoretical model is not able to consider the nonuniform shape of particle. So the shape of particle is assumed to be perfect global shape. And also particle distribution is not homogeneous in experimental specimen. It is assumed to be homogeneous in simulation model. The type of particle distribution is face-centered cubic array(FCC array). Furthermore, non-homogeneous distribution is modeled by combination of several volume fractions.

Split Effect in Ensemble

  • Classification tree is one of the most suitable base learners for ensemble. For past decade, it was found that bagging gives the most accurate prediction when used with unpruned tree and boosting with stump. Researchers have tried to understand the relationship between the size of trees and the accuracy of ensemble. With experiment, it is found that large trees make boosting overfit the dataset and stumps help avoid it. It means that the accuracy of each classifier needs to be sacrificed for better weighting at each iteration. Hence, split effect in boosting can be explained with the trade-off between the accuracy of each classifier and better weighting on the misclassified points. In bagging, combining larger trees give more accurate prediction because bagging does not have such trade-off, thus it is advisable to make each classifier as accurate as possible.

A Study on the Removal of Phosphorus in the Lake (호수내의 인 제거에 관한 연구)

  • The feasibility of usage of sludge from water treatment plant and chalk from schools and institutes was investigated to remove the phosphorus in the lakes which induce the eutrophication every year. In this study phosphorus removal efficiencies of sludge and chalk were investigated by changing various factors. Higher phosphorus removal efficiency using larger particle size of chalk was observed which means that the surface area is not an important factor in removing phosphorus in aqueous phase. The proper shaking time and temperature were 2 hours and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. The removal efficiency using sludge from water treatment plant was almost 100%, which is similar to those of CaO and $Ca(OH)_2$. It means that sludge can be reused in removing phosphorus. It was also found that chalk was better in removing phosphorus under alkaline condition and sludge was better under acidic condition. About 75% phosphorus removal efficiency was observed using sludge from the water sample in Lake Sihwa.

Channel Capacity for NOMA Weak Channel User and Capacity Region for NOMA with Gaussian Mixture Interference

  • Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has been considered for the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks to provide high system capacity and low latency. We calculate the channel capacity for the weak channel user in NOMA and the channel capacity region for NOMA. In this paper, Gaussian mixture channel is compared to the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Gaussian mixture channel is modeled when we assume the practical signal modulation for the inter user interference, such as the binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulation. It is shown that the channel capacity with BPSK inter user interference is better than that with Gaussian inter user interference. We also show that the channel capacity region with BPSK inter user interference is larger than that with Gaussian inter user interference. As a result, NOMA could perform better in the practical environments.

  • Often ESOP(Exclusive Sum of Products) expressions provide more compact representations of logic functions and implemented circuits are known to be highly testable. Motivated by the merits of using XOR(Exclusive-OR) gates in circuit design, ESOP(Exclusive Sum of Products) expressions are considered s the input to the logic synthesis for random pattern testability. The problem of interest in this paper is whether ESOP expressions provide better random testability than corresponding SOP expressions of the given function. Since XOR gates are used to collect product terms of ESOP expression, fault propagation is not affected by any other product terms in the ESOP expression. Therefore the test set for a fault in ESOP expressions becomes larger than that of SOP expressions, thereby providing better random testability. Experimental results show that in many cases, ESOP expressions require much less random patterns compared to SOP expressions.
