  • Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is one of the most attractive photovoltaic materials due to its low cost, high efficiency and stable performance in physical, optical and electronic properties. Few researches on the influences of uniform surface on the photovoltaic characteristics in large-area CdTe solar cell were not reported. As the preceding study of the effects of thickness-uniformity on the photovoltaic characteristics for the large-area CdTe thin film solar cell, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process was investigated for an enhancement of thickness-uniformity. Removal rate of CdTe thin film was 3160 nm/min of the maximum value at the 200 $gf/cm^2$ of down force (pressure) and 60 rpm of table speed (velocity). The removal rate of CdTe thin film was more affected by the down force than the table speed which is the two main factors directly influencing on the removal rate in CMP process. RMS roughness and peak-to-valley roughness of CdTe thin film after CMP process were improved to 96.68% and 85.55%, respectively. The optimum process condition was estimated by 100 $gf/cm^2$ of down force and 60 rpm of table speed with the consideration of good removal uniformity about 5.0% as well as excellent surface roughness for the large-area CdTe solar cell.

  • Large balloon angio catheter is used for Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplsty(TPA) of the iliac, femoral and renal arteries as well as after Transjugular Intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS). The use of angioplasty balloon filled with liquid form of radioisotope reduces the rate of restenosis after PTA. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the absorbed dose to the target vessels from various sized large balloon filled with liquid form of Ho-166-DTPA. Four balloons of balloon dilatation catheters evaluated were 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm in diameter. GafChromic film was used for the estimation of the absorbed dose near the surface of the balloon catheters. Absorbed dose rates are plotted in units of Gy/min/GBq/ml as a function of radial distance in mm from the surface of balloon. The absorbed dose rate was 1.1, 1.6, 2.2 and 2.3 Gy/min/GBq/ml at a balloon surface, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6 Gy/min/GBq/ml at 1 mm depth for various balloon diameter 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm in diameter respectively. The study was conducted to estimate the absorbed doses to the vessels from various sized large balloons filled with liquid form of Ho-166-DTPA for clinical trial of radiation therapy after the PTA. The absorbed dose distribution of Ho-166 appeared to be nearly ideal for vascular irradiation since beta range is very short avoiding unnecessary radiation to surrounding normal tissues.

  • The manufacturing process of large scaled Al 7050 alloy is difficult for the occurrence of solidification crack during casting. The aims of this study are the evaluations of microstructure and mechanical properties of extruded Al 7050 billet and ring forged one with large scale. Large scaled Al 7050 billet was casted by direct-chill casting process. The extruded and ring forged specimens were prepared from the casted ingot after residual stress relief and homogenization heat treatment, respectively. Microstructures, hardness and tensile test of the surface, middle and center part of each specimen were performed at room temperature. Sheared and elongated type grains were observed at the edge parts of surface and center area and its aspect ratios of grains were low and similar as 0.21 while that of middle area was closed to 0.92 value in ring forged Al 7050 alloy. The mechanical properties of extruded Al 7050 alloy were superior than those of ring forged one. The hardness values of surface and center part were slightly higher than that of middle part in ring forged Al 7050 alloy.

  • This paper aims to estimate the range of the excavation damaged zone (EDZ) formation caused by the tunnel boring machine (TBM) advancement through dynamic three-dimensional large deformation finite element analysis. Large deformation analysis based on Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) analysis is used to accurately simulate the behavior during TBM excavation. The analysis model is verified based on numerous test results reported in the literature. The range of the formed EDZ will be suggested as a boundary under various conditions - different tunnel diameter, tunnel depth, and rock type. Moreover, evaluation of the integrity of the tunnel structure during excavation has been carried out. Based on the numerical results, the apparent boundary of the EDZ is shown to within the range of 0.7D (D: tunnel diameter) around the excavation surface. Through series of numerical computation, it is clear that for the rock of with higher rock mass rating (RMR) grade (close to 1st grade), the EDZ around the tunnel tends to increase. The size of the EDZ is found to be direct proportional to the tunnel diameter, whereas the depth of the tunnel is inversely proportional to the magnitude of the EDZ. However, the relationship between the formation of the EDZ and the stability of the tunnel was not found to be consistent. In case where the TBM excavation is carried out in hard rock or rock under high confinement (excavation under greater depth), large range of the EDZ may be formed, but less strain occurs along the excavation surface during excavation and is found to be more stable.

  • In this paper, a novel approach which enables rapid die surface modification for sheet metal forming process is proposed. In this method an implicit surface which interpolates a given set of control points and displacement constraints is generated to compute the displacements at arbitrary points located on die surface. The proposed method does not depend on the underlying surface representation type and is affected neither by its complexity nor by its quality. In addition, the domain decomposition method is introduced in order to treat large surface model. The global domain of interest is divided into smaller domains where the problem can be solved locally. And then the local solutions are combined together to obtain a global solution. In order to verify the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method, various surface modifications are carried out fur three kinds of die surface model including polygonal surface composed of triangular and rectangular meshes, polynomial surface and NURBS surface.

  • We studied the relationship between the surface smoothness of the internal Cu ribbon and the morphology of the Sn-Pb plating layer for solar cell modules. A bumpy surface was observed on the surface of the solar ribbon, which caused irregular reflection of light. Large, Pb-rich, primary ${\alpha}$-phases were found below the convex surface of the solar ribbon, passing from the surface of the internal Cu ribbon to the surface of the plating layer. The primary ${\alpha}$-phases heterogeneously nucleated on the convex surface of the Cu ribbon, and then largely grew to the convex surface of the plating layer. The restriction of the primary ${\alpha}$-phase's formation was enabled by enhancing the smoothness of the Cu ribbon's surface; it was also possible to increase the adhesive strength and decrease contact resistance. We confirmed that the solar ribbon's surface smoothness depends on the internal Cu ribbon's surface smoothness.

  • Nowadays, the touch screen panel (TSP) cover glass for mobile smart devices is being developed with a curved glass shape due to different design requirements. Because the sizes of mobile smart devices continue to increase, there has also been a great increase in the demand for large-area curved glass greater than 20 inches. In this study, heat and fluid flow analysis using CFD was performed to optimize the heating surface temperature distribution of the large curved glass formation system. Five cooling water flow paths in the cooling block were designed and analyzed for each case. A function that can quantitatively calculate the temperature uniformity of the heating surface was proposed and these values were obtained for the five models. The temperature distributions of the heating surface and the energy consumption of the heating system were also compared and comprehensively analyzed. Based on the analysis results of the five different cooling channel path models, the optimal path design could be presented.

  • The flow characteristics in the blade passage of a low speed axial flow fan have been investigated by experimental analysis using a rotating hot-wire sensor for design and off-design operating conditions. The results show that the tip leakage vortex is moved upstream when flow rate is decreased, thus disturbing the formation of wake flow near the rotor tip. The tip leakage vortex interfaces with blade pressure surface, and results in high velocity fluctuation near the pressure surface. From the relative velocity distributions near the rotor tip, large axial velocity decay is observed at near stall condition, which results in large blockage compared to that at the design condition. Througout the flow measurements using a quasi-orthogonal measuring points to the tip leakage vortex, it is noted that the radial position of the tip leakage vortex is distributed between 94 and 96 percent span for all flow conditions. High spectrum density due to the large fluctuation of the tip leakage vortex is observed near the blade suction surface below the frequency of 1000 Hz at near stall condition.

  • Six new species of two genera Dysidea and Pleraplysilla (Demospongiae: Dictyoceratida: Dysideidae) are described from Jejudo Island, Dokdo Island and Guryongpo, Korea. Among them, five new species of the genus Dysidea are compared with other reported species in fibres structure, cored detritus and fibres arrangement. Dysidea niveus n. sp. is characterized by thin collagenous plate-like fibres. Dysidea dokdoensis n. sp. is similar to D. geomunensis Kim et al., 2020 in skeletal structure, but differs in length of surface conules. Dysidea hydra n. sp. is similar to D. mureungensis Kim et al., 2020 at the surface, but differs in fibres cored with spicules. Dysidea sabulum n. sp. is similar to D. glavea Kim et al., 2020 in cored large sands in fibres, but differs in having numerous large sands cored in fibres throughout the sponge. Dysidea hirsuta n. sp. is unique, only surface fibres cored with large sands but not in choanosome. A new species of genus Pleraplysilla, P. flabellum n. sp. is compared with seven other reported species. This new species is not encrusting but has a thick flabellate shape.
