  • This paper will examine the way Philip Larkin as a modern poet views unfavorable but inescapable past experiences with ambivalent attitudes. Larkin has written poems which concern the matters of time, aging, and death. Out of these related themes, the past has offered one major subject for Larkin's poems. Those poems on his personal experiences, coming out of his deep interest in the past and in the relationship the past has with his present and future life, reveal much of the poet's personality. Because of Larkin's conflicting attitudes towards past life, however, the poems about his past create both ambivalence and attraction in the readers' minds. The unusual restraint of emotion and conflict revealed in the poems about past life render rare modern lyrics that are unlike exuberant romantic poems.

  • The main concern of the study is the playwrights' perspectives toward the relationship between society and individuals rather than specific cultural or social circumstances. This study is justified in that the similarities of both playwrights not only provide an opportunity to bridge two different cultures, but they also help readers understand another culture and deepen the understanding of their own culture in the map of international literature. In their plays, both Miller and Cha express an individual's or a family's frustration, conflict, pleasure, and hope as reflected in the social circumstances. The characters take ideas and values from their social world and thrive or fail. Specifically, I have focused on three elements--obsession, generational value systems, and alienation. With three common features, I examine how closely Miller and Cha deal with ordinary people's tragedies.

  • Extensible Markup Language(XML) is fast emerging as the dominant standard for representing data in the World Wide Web. Sophisticated query engines that allow users to effectively tap the data stored in XML documents will be crucial to exploiting the full power of XML. While there has been a great deal of activity recently proposing new semi-structured data models and query languages for this purpose, this paper explores the more conservative approach of using traditional relational database engines for processing XML documents conforming to Document Type Descriptors(DTDs). In this paper, we describe how to generate relational schemas from XML DTDs. The main issues that must be addressed inc]ode (a) dealing with the complexity of DTD element specifications (b) resolving the conflict between the two-level nature of relational schemas (table and attribute) vs. the arbitrary nesting of XML DTD schemas and (c) dealing with set-valued attributes and recursion. We now propose a set of transformations that can be used to "simplify" any arbitrary DTD without undermining the effectiveness of queries over documents conforming to that DTD.

  • With the increasing demand for interoperability among existing learning resource systems in order to enable the sharing of learning resources, such resources need to be annotated with ontologies that use different metadata standards. These different ontologies must be reconciled through ontology mediation, so as to cope with information heterogeneity problems, such as semantic and structural conflicts. In this paper, we propose an ontology-mapping technique using Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) to generate semantic mapping rules that integrate learning resources from different systems and that cope with semantic and structural conflicts. Reasoning rules are defined to support a semantic search for heterogeneous learning resources, which are deduced by rule-based inference. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach enables the integration of learning resources originating from multiple sources and helps users to search across heterogeneous learning resource systems.

  • Problems of international marriage have been caused by the second generation. Because the second generation make a conflict with the existing social systems. So we should study about the second generation before they grown up. This Paper compared the behavior traits between international marriage home children and pure korean home children especially in the area of language expression, peer relationship, learning concentration. According to the analysis developed instructional strategy for international marriage home children.

  • Spacecraft mission planning functions including event prediction, mission scheduling, command planning, and ground track display have been developed for the KOMPSAT-2 mission operations. Integrated event prediction functions including satellite orbital events, user requested imaging events, and satellite operational events have been implemented. Mission scheduling functions have been realized to detect the mission conflicts considering the user specified constraints and resources, A conflict free mission scheduling result is mapped into the spacecraft command sequences in the command planning functions. The command sequences are directly linked to the spacecraft operations using eXtensible Markup Language(XML) for command transmission. Ground track display shows the satellite ground trace and mission activities on a digitized world map with zoom capability.

  • The story treats each individual's vision as well as social reality that the author intends to describe. The purpose of this article is to search for the conflict between vision and reality, especially in feminist problem that critics have treated on the works of women writers. Though some articles have studied on the issue similar to this article, I try to analyze the narratives in the text that the author herself confesses to us. I think that we can find out clear messages from the individuals who construct the human relationship and build up their personal history through their dialogue or monologue. We can also catch their main problems in the community. I discuss the topic by mentioning the detailed discourses referred to the heroine and other characters in the text. The passages mentioned by the characters in the story may be a confession for the present and future generation that the author tries to confess. From the excerpts of some discourse, I can conclude that though Dorothea has a vision for her ideal, she is a failed feminist, for society is too strong for her as Miller (1990) argues.

  • With the rapidly increasing complexity of decision-marking or system development in the fields of industry, management, etc., modelling techniques using simulation has become more highlighted. Particularly, the advent of parallel computer systems not only has opened a new horizon of parallel simulation, but also has greatly contributed to the speed-up of the execution of simulation. The implementation of parallel simulation, however, is not a easy job for those who accustomed to the existing computer systems. And it is also necessarily confronted with the problem of synchronization conflict in the process. Thus, how to allow a wider community of users to gain access to parallel simulation while solving synchronization conflicts has become an important issue in simulation study. As a method to solve these problems, this paper is primarily concerned with the implementation of GPSS which is a generally used simulation language for discrete event simulation, onto a parallel computer using C-LINDA. For that, this paper, is to suggest a model and algorithm and to experiment it using a case.
