Adaptive Digital Background Gain Mismatch Calibration for Multi-lane High-speed Serial Links

  • Adaptive background gain calibration loop for multi-lane serial links is proposed. In order to detect and cancel gain mismatches between lanes, a single digital loop using a ${\sum}{\Delta}$ ADC is employed, which provides a real-time adaptation of gain variations and is shared among all lanes to reduce power and area. Evaluation result showed that gain mismatches between lanes were well calibrated and tracked, resulting in timing budget at $10^{-6}$ BER increased from 0.261 UI to 0.363 UI with stable loop convergence.

  • Lane detection is one of the major components of traffic intelligence. It is impossible to recognize lanes as human do in all kinds of special situations; however, we can try to solve special problems with special methods. In this paper we propose a simple method using color segmentation, the Probabilistic Hough Transform (PHT), and the Least-Square in real-time lane tracking. Vehicles in neighborhood can be eliminated with one simple threshold in segmentation. Meanwhile, broken shape lanes in different road conditions can be successfully detected using the combination of PHT and Least-Square method. Eventually, this method is tested with groups of static images downloaded from internet and video sequences shot randomly on some highways. Satisfactory results are received.

지방부 도로의 양보차선 설계기준 정립을 위한 이론적 연구 (A Method for the Development of Design Guides for Passing Lenes on Rural Two-Lane Highways)

  • The effects of passing lanes on traffic flow on rural two-lane highways have been investigated in this research. Field study results were compared with the computer simulation model, TRARR, TRARR model appears to be in good agreement with field study results except that average speed and distribution of platoon sizes showed a small amount of discrepancy, which is believed to be caused by too large a headway definition of 6 second for a vehicle platoon. Using the TRARR model, 4 situations including the existing condition, installation of passing lanes, improvement of design speed, and expansion to a four lane highway were evaluated. Traffic volume levels of 500,1000, and 1500 vph and truck composition of 20 and 40% were also considered making a total of 24 computer runs. It is concluded in this research that the installation of passing lanes is the most effective method to improve traffic operation on two-lane high ways except the alternative of four lane highway expansion.

  • Navigation in outdoor environments is a fundamental and challenging problem for unmanned ground vehicles. Detecting lane markings or boundaries on the road may be one of the solutions to make navigation easy. However, because of various environments and road conditions, a robust lane detection is difficult. In this paper, we propose a new approach for estimating virtual lanes on a traversable region. Estimating the virtual lanes consist of two steps: (i) we detect virtual road region through road model selection based on traversability at current frame and similarity between the interframe and (ii) we estimate virtual lane using the number of lane on the road and results of previous frame. To improve the detection performance and reduce the searching region of interests, we use a probability map representing the traversability of the outdoor terrain. In addition, by considering both current and previous frame simultaneously, the proposed method estimate more stable virtual lanes. We evaluate the performance of the proposed approach using real data in outdoor environments.

  • 미국과 중국 그리고 일부 유럽국가에서는 교통혼잡 해결하기 위해 2인 이상 탑승한 차량만 운행 가능한 다인승 전용차로(HOV, High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes)를 도입하여 운영하고 있다. HOV를 도입한 도시에서는 나 홀로 운행 차량이 많이 감소 되어 교통 혼잡 문제를 조금이나마 해결 할 수 있었다. 현재 HOV에서는 차량 내부의 탑승 인원수를 확인하기 위한 시스템을 사용하고 있다. 기존의 해당 시스템은 HOV에 지나간 차량을 자동으로 적외선 카메라를 통해 촬영하여 사람이 직접 검수하는 방식이다. 기존 방식은 사람이 직접 검사하는 방식이라 이를 위한 많은 인력과 시간이 소모되는 점, 그리고 사람마다 확인한 결과가 다를 수 있는 등 여러 가지 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 HOV의 차량 내부 탑승 인원 확인 기술의 여러 단점을 극복하기 위해 Deep Learning과 Computer Vision을 이용한 새로운 기술 설계를 위한 연구한 내용을 다룬다.

  • As metropolitan areas are rapidly growing in both population and physical size, so too has the problem of traffic congestion. Magnifying this is the limited financial resources and lack of road corridor space available to juggle the many competing demands. High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) facilities have been implemented in an attempt to alleviate the problem of growing congestion while considering the issue of limited funding and lack of physical space. HOV lanes may increase the efficiency of a road corridor by maximising its person carrying capacity. These facilities are meant to provide priority treatment to HOVs, thereby luring people to choose a transport mode with a higher occupancy than the single occupant vehicle (SOV), such as buses or carpools. This paper analyze the issues surrounding HOV lanes, their effect, problems and their evaluation by using Intergration, that is Traffic Simulation Software, when HOV lanes be implemented in the Olympic Highway.

  • In this paper, a method to detect lanes and obstacles from the images captured by a CCD camera fitted in an automobile is proposed, and a new terminology “Moving Window” is defined. Processing the input dynamic images in real time can cause quite a few constraints in terms of hardware. In order to overcome these problems and detect lanes and obstacles in real time using the images, the optimal size of “Moving Window” is determined, based upon road conditions and automobile states. The real time detection is made possible through the technique. For each image frame, the moving window is moved in a predicted direction, the accuracy of which is improved by the Kalman filter estimation. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through the simulated experiments of freeway driving.

  • The research was conducted to investigate the characteristics of lateral wheel path distributions (wandering) in different traffic lanes. The Wandering may affect pavement life and various distress types. To achieve results presented that the normal distribution curve with symmetry was observed in the 3-lane roads. In the case of the 3-lane road (on one direction), 50-60cm, 65-85cm, and 80-95cm for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lanes, respectively. In addition, the 1st lane vehicles tended to pass on the right side to avoid th opposite side vehicles, while the outside lane vehicles tended to pass on the left side to avoid the walkway.

  • The Provision of a Passing lane is strongly recommended When adeguate Passing Sight distance cannot be acguired at a Section of two-lane highway. Passing lanes are usually installed at two-lane highways along the shoulder area to minimize the impact of slow-moving heavy vehicles. The design concepts and specific dimension associated with the Passing lane construction are investigated in This research. In addition a case study was made using the field study data. Currently the level of service at the case study area was analyzed to be "F" based on 1985 Highway Capacity Manual procedure. With the installation of passing lanes, the level of service was improved into "C". A computer Simulation program developed by Australian Road Research Boand was utilized to analyze the effect of passing lanes.

  • 서부산요금소에는 이용자가 80kph의 속도로 통과가 가능한 2차로 ETCS (2차로 하이패스 차로)가 설치되어 운영 중에 있다. 이 시스템은 하이패스 차로의 분리섬을 제거하여 2차로로 운영되는 정산 차로로써 성공적으로 운영되고 있다. 그러나 이 차로의 등장은 요금소의 차로 유형이 더 복잡해짐을 의미하며, 따라서 다양한 차로들을 어떻게 효과적으로 배치하는가는 매우 중요한 문제가 될 것이다. 본 연구에서는 서울요금소에 2차로 ETCS 차로의 추가 배치를 가정하여, 광장부내 합리적 동선 처리를 위한 시나리오 분석을 시행하고자 한다. 이를 위해 서울요금소에서 배치가능한 동선 처리 시나리오를 선정하고, VISSIM 프로그램을 활용하여 통행속도 지표를 이용하여 운영상태를 평가하였다. 분석 결과, 각 시나리오별 주행속도 및 차로 유형간 속도 편차는 매우 상이하게 나타났으며, 2차로 ETCS 차로의 배치가 전체 요금소의 소통에 큰 영향을 줄 수 있음을 증명하였다.
