Kinematical Analysis of Somersault with Twist in Men's Vault: Focusing on the Lou Yun and Akopian Motions

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the kinematical characteristics of somersault with twist in the Lou Yun and Akopian motions and to provide useful information to gymnastic athletes in men's vault. Method: The study subjects were 12 male adult top athletes. After 12 trials (7 Lou Yun and 5 Akopian trials) filmed by using two digital high-speed camcorders set at 90 frames/sec, kinematical data were collected through the direct linear transformation (DLT) method. The mean differences in biomechanical variables were compared during the second flight upward phase. The kinematic characteristics of somersault with twist in the Lou Yun and Akopian motions were identified. Results: In Lou Yun motion, the vertical release velocity through horse breaking was not difficult to obtain, so the athletes had enough time to prepare for the twist. Therefore, the Lou Yun motion has an advantage to make a cat twist in the pike posture. In the Akopian motion, obtaining the horizontal velocity through horse pushing was so easy that the Akopian athletes attained a large angular impulse and angular momentum. Therefore, the Akopian motion has an advantage to making a tilt twist in the body tilting posture. Conclusion: This study suggests that gymnastic athletes should control their body segment movements in order to increase the twisting angular velocity of the whole body, which requires regulation of the longitudinal moment of inertia of the body. Moreover, athletes should prepare for the shoulder and hip twists early in order to make the landing position in advance.

엘리트 110m 허들선수의 세 번째 허들링 동작에 관한 운동학적 분석 (The Kinematic analysis of the third Hurdling motions of The 110m Hurdles Elite)

  • 이 연구는 국내에서 개최한 국제육강대회의 110m 허들 결승을 대상으로 대회 우승자(중국),2위 입상자(미국), 3위 입상자(한국) 총 3명을 대상자로 선정하였다. 국외 우수선수와 국내 우수선수의 허들링 동작을 분석하기 위해 3차원 영상분석을 이용하였으며, 기술적 특징을 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 허들을 넘기 전 질주동작인 준비구간에서 국내 우수선수는 도약 접지에서 도약이지까지 신체 무게중심의 수평거리가 1.04m로 국외 우수선수보다 0.13m 길게 질주하는 것으로 나타났다. 허들을 넘는 비행구간에서 국내 우수선수는 도약에서 비행정점까지 신체 무게중심의 수평거리가 1.63m로 나타났으며, 국외 우수선수보다 0.33m 짧게 도약하는 것으로 나타났다. 비행정점에서 착지까지는 국내 우수선수가 1.59m로 국외 우수선수보다 0.33m 길게 착지하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 허들을 넘는 동안 신체 무게중심의 수평속도는 도약에서 착지까지 국내 우수선수가 0.75m/s 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 도약비율과 착지비율은 53:47로 나타났다. 허들을 넘은 후 질주하는 가속구간은 국내 우수선수가 착지이지에서 신체 무게중심의 수평속도가 8.78m/s로 나타났으며, 국외 우수선수보다 0.54m/s 느린 것으로 나타났다.

달리기시 최고 속도 및 피로 구간의 3차원 동작 분석 (3-Dimensional Analysis of the Running Motion in the Max-Velocity Phase and the Fatigue Phase During 400m Sprint by Performed Elementary School Athletes)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the running motion in the max-velocity phase(150-160m) and the fatigue phase(350-360m) during 400m sprint by performed elementary school athletes. Eighteen elementary school male athletes who achieved at least the 3rd place in the sprint at the Korea Gangwon-Do elementary school track and field meetings during 2004 and 2005 were selected as subjects. The running motions performed by the subjects were recorded using two 8mm high speed cameras at the nominal speed of 100 frames per second. The Direct Linear Transformation technique was adopted from the beginning of filming to the final stage of data extraction. KWON 3D motion analysis package program was used to compute the 3 Dimensional coordinates, smoothing factor in which lowpass filtering method was used and cutoff frequency was 6.0 Hz. The movement patterns during foot touchdown and takeoff for the running stride were related with the biomechanical consideration. Within the limitations of this study it is concluded: In order to increase running velocity, several conditions must be fullfilled at the instant of leg touchdown and takeoff during the fatigue phase(350-360m). First, the body C.O.G(Center of Gravity) height should be raised at the instant of leg touchdown and takeoff during the fatigue phase. Second, the foot contact time should be shortened and the takeoff distance should be increased at the foot takeoff during the fatigue phase. Third, the shank angular velocity with respect to a transverse axis through the center of gravity should be increased during the leg touchdown and takeoff in the fatigue phase. Forth, the active landing style described as clawing the ground with the sole of the foot should be performed during the leg touchdown and takeoff in the fatigue phase) phase. Fifth, In order to increase running velocity in the fatigue phase while taking a slightly greater leg knee angle and body lean angle within the range of the subject's running motion during the fatigue phase would result in greater flight distance.

2011 대구세계육상선수권대회 남자 멀리뛰기 경기의 운동학적 분석 (Kinematic Analysis of the Men's Long Jump in the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011)

  • The long jump motion of 8 finalist of men's long jump of IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011 were analysed and the kinematic characteristics of the technique were investigated. The kinematic characteristics of long jump motion of 8 finalist were as follows. In the run-up phase, the average length of 3, 2, and 1 stride were $2.21{\pm}0.08$ m, $2.46{\pm}0.18$ m, and $2.19{\pm}0.16$ m, respectively. The change in the height of the center of gravity was $0.09{\pm}0.02$ m. The average velocity of 3, 2, and 1 stride was $10.37{\pm}0.32$ m/s, $9.63{\pm}0.32$ m/s, and $10.69{\pm}10.69$ m/s, respectively. In the take-off phase, the horizontal velocity, the vertical velocity, the reduction of horizontal velocity was $9.00{\pm}0.37$ m/s, $3.04{\pm}0.27$ m/s, and $1.69{\pm}0.34$ m/s, respectively. The minimum knee angle and the take off angle was $157{\pm}6.57^{\circ}$ and $18.5{\pm}2.24^{\circ}$, respectively. In the flight phase, the flight time and the maximum height of the center of gravity was $0.82{\pm}0.05$ s, and $1.70{\pm}0.10$ m, respectively. In the landing phase, the landing length was $0.51{\pm}0.06$ m. The body angle, the knee angle, and the hip angle was $71{\pm}20.93^{\circ}$, $136{\pm}19.19^{\circ}$, and $85{\pm}9.58^{\circ}$, respectively. The kinematic characteristics of long jump motion with good record were shown as follows. The reduction of the horizontal velocity in the take-off phase was minimized while the velocity of the run-up were maximally maintained. The vertical velocity in the take-off phase was increased with rapidly extended knee and the high center of gravity.

시험선 $\ulcorner$나래$\lrcorner$의 자세 제어 기술 개발 및 실해역 시험 (Development of Motion Control Techniques and Sea Trials of The Test Ship $\ulcorner$NARAE$\lrcorner$)

  • 본 논문에서는 시험선 $\ulcorner$나래$\lrcorner$에 적용된 자세 제어 기술 및 그 실해역 시험 결과를 보이고자 한다. $\ulcorner$나래$\lrcorner$는 하부 몰수체와 그에 부착된 제어판을 이용하여 선체를 일정량 부상시키는 복합 지지선형을 채택하여 건조된 선박으로서, 본 연구원의 자체 설계를 거쳐 건조된 유인 시험선이다. 이러한 선형의 선박은 부상 상태에서 Heave, Pitch Roll의 3자유도에 대해 복원력이 거의 작용하지 않기 때문에 정적 불안정성을 가지며, 그에 따라 자세 제어 시스템이 필수적으로 요구된다. 시험선 $\ulcorner$나래$\lrcorner$에는 제어판 구동을 위한 유압 구동 장치 및 선체 운동의 계측을 위한 각종 계측 장비가 설치되었다. 제어기로는 PID 제어기가 사용되었으며, 실시간 제어를 위해 Pentium급 산업용 PC가 탑재되었다. 약 3개월 여에 걸쳐 부상 시험 및 조종 시험을 포함한 실해역 시험이 수행되었으며, 만족스런 제어 성능이 발휘됨을 확인하였다.

  • In contrast to the method in Part I, which is considered to be the general approach, Part II pursues a closed-form solution. However, this closed-form solution is available only in the 2D situation under the assumption that the moving object is restricted to a 2D space, and also requires the use of only two laser-slit sensors. Since the motion of the container loaded on top of an AGV is restricted to a plane parallel to the ground, it can be considered a 2D motion. As a simple method, but with a high cost, the use of a laser scanner is also discussed. Since the approach in Part I already uses three laser-slit sensors, it is desirable to use the schemes presented in Part II for supplementary purposes.

달 착륙선의 동역학 모델링 및 추력기 기반 제어기 설계 (Dynamic Modeling and Design of Controller based on Thrusters for Korean Lunar Module)

  • This paper deals with dynamic modeling and controller design of a future Korean lunar module planned to be launched 2020's in Korea. For dynamic modeling of the lunar module, we first assume the lunar module as a rigid body. And we derive equations of motion for the lunar module by considering allocation of main thrusters and reaction thrusters. With the equation of motion, we design the controller based on the quaternion. A Pulse Width Pulse Frequency modulator(PWPFM) is selected for generating on/off signal. Finally, we construct a 2-phase descent mode including initial guidance mode, terminal guidance mode. The MATLAB simulation is performed for evaluating the descent ability and final landing velocity. The dynamic modeling and descent simulation of the lunar module in this paper could be applied for developing the future work of the Korean lunar exploration program.

Biped Gait Generation based on Linear Inverted Pendulum Mode On Flexible Terrain

  • In this paper, gait generation algorithm based on Linear Inverted Pendulum Mode is extended considering that the terrain is uncertain and flexible. Deformation of the soft terrain by the weight of the biped robot is taken into account to design the desired motion of the swing leg. Landing time disagreement caused by dynamics of the robot is also considered and a method to adjust gait is proposed. Results of numerical simulation show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Although stable control algorithm has been implemented to the biped robot, the stability is not guaranteed because of encoder errors and/or rigid body elastics. Hence precise body pose estimation is required for more natural and long term walk. Specially pelvis sloping by gravity or uneven ground on landing place are most critical reason for undulated motion. In order to overcome these difficulties an estimation system for foot position and orientation using PSD sensors and Gyro sensors is proposed along with calibration algorithm and experimental verification.

  • This study deals with modeling and flight control of quadrotor type (QRT) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Rigorous dynamic model of a QRT UAV is obtained both in reference and body frame coordinate systems. A disturbance observer (DOB) based controller using the derived dynamic models is also proposed for robust hovering control. The control input induced by DOB is helpful to use simple equations of motion satisfying accurate derived dynamics. The experimental results show the performance of the proposed control algorithm.
