The plasma ion density in AC-PDP has shown to be increased from $5.6{\times}10^{11}cm^{-3}$ to $9.0{\times}10^{11)cm^{-3}$ as the Xe mixture ratio to neon increase from 1 % to 10 %, respectively, at fixed pressure of 400 Torr, by using the micro-Langmuir probe. It is noted that the plasma ion density is density increases as the gas pressure increases in this experiment. The electron temperature decreases from 2.3 to 1.2 eV as the Xe mole fraction increases from 1 % to 10 % at fixed pressure of 400 Torr, which is measured by the micro Langmuir probe and high-speed ICCD camera in this experiment. It is noted that the electron temperature decreases as the gas pressure increases from 150 to 400 Torr in this experiment. It is also observed that the exited Xe atom density and the plasma ion density are in strong correlation sharp between each other in this experiment. It is noted that $5.2{\times}10^{12}cm^{-3}$ in the $1s_5$ metastable state and $1.2{\times}10^{12}cm^{-3}$ in the $1s_4$ resonance state for the PDP cell with gap of 50 um distances under the fixed gas pressure of 400 Torr and Xe content ratio of 10 %.

Experiments done in traditional physics laboratories have been criticized for giving too detailed instruction so that student could follow the experimental procedure without understanding. This type of experiment is often called "cookbook experiment." Cookbook experiment was known to be little help to understand the physics concepts and to increase student interest. To solve these problems with traditional cookbook experiment, non-directive introductory physics laboratory was designed and tried with the freshmen of Department of Physics Education of Seoul National University. Non-directive laboratory was characterized by the lack of step by step instruction for students to follow. The instruction students received consisted of the goal of experiment, a short introduction, and a list of suggested materials to be used. Student designed the experimental procedure and decided what material they wanted to use. One group submitted one lab report as a group to encourage cooperation among students. Lab report could be written in any form students wanted and no penalty point was given to poor data or inappropriate theory, etc to encourage taking risks. Penalty points were given if the students did not get involved during class hours. Student received extra point for being creative and / or working hard. Teaching assistants used Socratic dialogue in helping students to find their own way instead of explaining what they had to do. Students' interest about the non-directive experiment was studies at the of the semester. A questionnaire was made for students to answer. The questionnaire consisted of four categories, the equipment and the laboratory, the experimental procedure, the lab report, and teaching assistant. For each category, student were asked to explain the differences from other laboratory classes, features they liked and the reasons why they do, features they did not like and why they did not. At the end of the questionnaire, students were asked what hey wanted to change and what they did not. They also could put any opinion they had other than the questions asked. Student overall opinion was very positive. All the students said they liked the lack of detailed experimental procedure because it gave them the feeling of achievement, made them feel challenged and think in more diverse and creative ways. Students liked the lab report because group report forced them to discuss more and the free form lab report helped them to focus on the what they did. Student responses about the teaching assistant was also positive but not as enthusiastic as the experimental procedure or lab report. However students recognised that the role of the teaching assistant was as a guide, a supporter, or a facilitator.

A chemical investigation of the stem bark of Melia azedarach var. Japonica (Meliaceae) has led to a new limonoid, 12-hydroxyamoorastatone (1), whose structure has been elucidated by spectroscopic measurements including 2D-NMR. The 2D-NOESY experiment on its di-p-bromobenzoate derivative (1a) has established the relative configuration of 1.
The degradation characteristics of MgO protective layer and phosphors have been investigated in terms of the ion-induced secondary electron emission coefficient ${\gamma}$ and static margin of discharge voltages, respectively, in this experiment. The ion-induced secondary electron emission coefficients ${\gamma}$ for the degraded MgO protective layer and phosphors have been studied by ${\gamma}$ -focused ion beam system. The energy of Ne+ ions used is from 80 eV to 200 eV in this experiment. The degraded MgO and phosphor layers are found to have higher ${\gamma}$ than that of normal ones without degradations or aged one. Also, the static margin of discharge voltages for test panels with degraded MgO protective layer and phosphors been found to be seriously decreased in comparison with those of normal ones without degradations.

One of the salient nuclear fuel performance parameters for new fuel types under development is changes in fuel thickness. To test the new commercially fabricated U-10Mo monolithic plate-type fuel, an irradiation experiment was designed that consisted of multiple mini-plate capsules distributed within the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) core, the mini-plate 1 (MP-1) experiment. Each capsule contains eight mini-plates that were either fueled or "dummy" plates. Fuel thickness changes within a fuel assembly can be characterized by measuring the gaps between the plates ultrasonically. The channel gap probe (CGP) system is designed to measure the gaps between the plates and will provide information that supports qualification of U-10Mo monolithic fuel. This study will discuss the design and the results from the use of a custom-designed CGP system for characterizing the gaps between mini-plates within the MP-1 capsules. To ensure accurate and repeatable data, acceptance and calibration procedures have been developed. Unfortunately, there is no "gold" standard measurement to compare to CGP measurements. An effort was made to use plate thickness obtained from post-irradiation measurements to derive channel gap estimates for comparison with the CGP characterization.
Two trials were conducted to study the effects of two Chinese herbal polysaccharides, Astragalus polysaccharides (APS) and Achyranthes bidentata polysaccharides (ABPS), and one Chinese herbal saponin, Acantbepanax senticosus saponin (ASS), on the immunity and growth performance of weaned pigs. Experiment 1 was a 14-day growth assay, in which 32 weaned pigs were randomly allocated to one of four dietary treatments: i) 0.05% talcum powder control; ii) 0.05% APS; iii) 0.05% mixture of APS and ASS in a 1:1 ratio by weight; and iv) 0.05% mixture of APS, ASS, and ABPS in a ratio of 1:1:1 by weight. Blood samples were collected on day 14 to determine plasma parameters. Feed intake, body weight gain, and feed efficiency were also determined. Experiment 2 was a 21-day immunity assay, in which 16 weaned pigs were randomly allotted to one of two dietary treatments: i) 0.05% talcum powder control; and ii) 0.05% mixture of APS and ASS in a 1:1 ratio by weight. On day 21, pigs were challenged with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and 3 h later blood samples were collected and analyzed for lymphocyte proliferation as well as interleukin 6 (IL-6), insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), growth hormone (GH), and cortisol levels. In Experiment 1, feeding Chinese herbal polysaccharides and saponin increased growth performance of the pigs. The effects of the mixture of APS and ASS were especially notable, as there was a significant improvement in growth performance compared with the control (p<0.05). The plasma concentration of immunoglobulin G (IgG), nitric oxide (NO), and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) were increased in all treatments groups, with the mixture of APS and ASS increasing the level of IgG and NOS significantly (p<0.05), compared with the control. There was no difference in the NO level between the control and treatment groups (p>0.05). In Experiment 2, Chinese herbal polysaccharides and saponin showed immunostimulating effects. The level of cortisol, GH, and IGF-I were significantly increased (p>0.05), and the level of IL-6 showed a significant decrease (p<0.05) in the APS and ASS treatment after the LPS challenge. The mixture of APS and ASS could stimulate the blood lymphocyte proliferation significantly whether the LPS was injected or not (p<0.05). These results show that Chinese herbal extracts can improve growth performance and stimulate immunity of weaned pigs. A mixture of APS and ASS, compared with APS alone, could be a new kind of immunostimulant for weaned pigs, which could result in greater positive effects on their growth performance and immunity.
In the present study, the $SrMoO_4:Eu^{3+}$ phosphors has been synthesized through hydro-thermal co-precipitation method, and single factor and orthogonal experiment method was adopted to find optimal synthesis condition. It is interesting to note that hydro-thermal temperature is a prominent effect on the luminescent intensity of $SrMoO_4:Eu^{3+}$ red phosphor, followed by co-precipitation temperature, calcining time, and the doping amount of $Eu^{3+}$. The optimal synthesis conditions were obtained: hydro-thermal temperature is $145^{\circ}C$, co-precipitation temperature is $35^{\circ}C$, the calcining time is 2.5 h, and the doping amount of activator $Eu^{3+}$ is 25%. Subsequently, the crystalline particle size, phase composition and morphology of the synthesized phosphors were evaluated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that these phosphors possess a scheelite-type tetragonal structure, and the particle size is about $0.2{\mu}m$. Spectroscopic investigations of the synthesized phosphors are carried out with the help of photo-luminescence excitation and emission analysis. The studies reveal that $SrMoO_4:Eu^{3+}$ phosphor efficiently convert radiation of 394 nm-592 and 616 nm for red light, and the luminescence intensity of $SrMoO_4:Eu^{3+}$ phosphors is improved. $SrMoO_4:Eu^{3+}$ phosphors may be a potential application for enhancing the efficiency of white LEDs.

This paper concerns about an experimental investigation about steering performance of tracked vehicle on extremely soft soil based on DOE(Design Of Experiment) using L8 orthogonal Array. A tracked vehicle model with principal dimensions of $0.9m{\times}0.8m{\times}0.4m$ and weight 167kg was constructed with a pair of driving chain links driven by two AC-servo motors. The tracks are configured with detachable grousers, the span of which can be varied. Deep seabed was simulated by means of bentonite-water mixture in a soil bin of $6.0m{\times}3.7m{\times}0.7m$. Turning radii of vehicle and torques of motors were measured with respect to experimental variables; steering ratio, driving speed, grouser chevron angle, grouser span, grouser height. The effects of experiment variables on steering performance are evaluated.
Apparent digestibility of three representative seaweeds commonly used in Korea was obtained through an animal experiment and their calorie values were calculated therefrom. 1) Digestion coefficients for the nutrients of laver were crude protein, 42%; crude ash, 9%; carbohydrate, 62% and crude fat, none. 2) Digestion coefficients for the nutrients of tang1e were crude protein, 10%; crude fat, 40%; carbohydrate, 40% and crude ash, none. 3) Digestion coefficients for the nutrients of green laver were crude protein, 38%; crude fat, 59%; carbohydrate, 66% and crude ash, none. 4) Calorie values of seaweeds on the basis of above digestion coefficients were assessed to be only 52% in laver, 32% in tang1e and 59% in green laver as compared with those customarily obtained from proximate composition and Atwater's coefficient.
In this paper, we make an experiment on speech recognition systems with barging-in and non-barging-in utterances. Barging-in capability, with which we can say voice commands while voice announcement is coming out, is one of the important elements for practical speech recognition systems. Barging-in capability can be realized by echo cancellation techniques based on the LMS (least-mean-square) algorithm. We use three kinds of telephone interface boards with barging-in capability, which are respectively made by Dialogic Company, Natural MicroSystems Company and Korea Telecom. Speech database was made using these three kinds of boards. We make a comparative recognition experiment with this speech database.
