  • The efficiency of electric machine is important due to increase of interest about energy saving. Single Phase Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor has high efficiency and power factor. LSPMSM offer a high efficiency as compared induction motor which are used in the home appliance. The analysis and design of LSPMSM is difficult because of unbalanced rotating magnetic field, nonlinear characteristics and rotor saliency. To consider these effects, F.E.M(Finite Element Methods) is coupled equivalent circuit methods. In this paper, a methods of analysis and design using F.E.M and equivalent circuit is represented.

  • 본 논문은 평형운전조건 및 고정자 동손 최소화조건이 적용된 단상 LSPM 전동기를 기본모델로 하며 이를 기초로 기동특성 및 정동특성을 고려한 최적설계 방법을 제안한다. 기동특성 및 정동특성을 고려한 설계 변수로는 회전자 도체의 형상과 엔드링의 축방향 길이를 선정 하였으며 이를 통하여 평형운전조건과 고정자 동손최소화 조건을 만족하는 동시에 기동특성 및 정동특성을 고려한 최적모델을 설계하였다. 또한 최적설계 과정을 통하여 얻은 특성들을 유한요소해석을 통해 비교 및 분석하였으며 본 논문에서 제안하는 실용적인 최적설계 방법의 타당성을 검증한다.

  • This paper shows the characteristic analysis of single-phase line start permanent magnet (LSPM) motors considering the overhang structure. To achieve the low-cost design of an LSPM motor, the overhang structure is adapted for the rotor with a constraint of a fixed magnet volume. To obtain the dynamic and steady performance of the motor, the circuit parameters are extracted using the 3D-static FEM(Finite Element Method) and the d-q equivalent circuit is used. The performance of the model with overhang is compared with the conventional model without overhang on the condition that both models have a fixed volume for the permanent magnet.

  • This paper deals with cost reduction design of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet (LSPM) motor. The characteristic analysis according to the change of quantity of permanent magnet(PM) is examined by d-and q-axis equivalent circuit. The motor parameters which are satisfied with efficiency and maximum torque are determined by the characteristic map obtained by d-and q-axis equivalent circuit analysis. And then the geometric shape design using optimization methodology is performed by finite element method (FEM).

  • 단상 유도형 동기전동기(Line-Start Permanent Magnet Motor: LSPM)는 기존의 단상유도기에 비해 높은 효율을 갖고 있어 가정에서의 주요 동력원으로 사용되고 있다. 그러나 기동 시 영구자석에 의한 Braking toruqe의 발생으로 인해 높은 기동토크를 필요로 하는 단점을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 LSPM의 장점과 기동 시의 문제점 극복에 유리한 Written-Pole Motor (WPM)에 대해 소개하였다 또한 WPM의 보다 정화한 해석을 위해 WPM의 특징인 운전시 진행되는 영구자석 착자의 유한요소해석을 통해 영구자석의 잔류자속밀도를 계산하였으며 이를 바탕으로 WPM의 동기속도에서의 정특성 해석을 수행하였다.

  • The line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor has a high efficiency and an advantage in constant speed operation regardless of the effect of load variation. However it is difficult to predict the performance of characteristics accurately, because of the unbalanced starting torque with the initial starting position of the rotor and the generation of a break torque. In this paper the dynamic characteristics of the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor are described and compared with those of the squirrel-cage induction motor through the simulation to find the characteristics of the permanent magnets and the rotor bars in the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor.

  • This paper deals with the cost reduction design of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet(LSPM) motor. Due to high cost of the permanent magnet(PM), cost reduction can be effectively achieved by reducing PM volume. Therefore, motor characteristics according to the PM volume are calculated by using d-q axis equivalent circuit analysis, and the characteristic map is made. In the characteristic map, maximum torque and efficiency are shown according to motor parameters such as back electromotive force(back emf) and inductances; back emf represents the PM volume. Minimum back emf and inductances satisfying output performance are determined in the characteristic map. Then, motor geometry based on the prototype motor is optimized to get the determined parameters using response surface methodology(RSM) and finite element method(FEM). Through the presented cost reduction design, total PM volume is reduced to 32% of prototype model.

  • The single-phase line start permanent magnet motor(LSPM) have a rotor cage bar for induction starting and permanent magnets, providing synchronous torque. So, LSPM is vary complex and difficult to analysis transient characteristics and rotor design. In this paper, F.E.M analysis about single-phase line start permanent magnet motor and compare of the single-phase line start permanent magnet synchronous motor's transient characteristics by size and position of rotor bar.

  • This paper presents the characteristic analysis of thermal behavior of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet motor(LSPM) for high-efficiency design. By analyzing of thermal behavior, it can consider demagnetization characteristics of permanent magnets. In addition, by calculating the allowable current density it will be able to reduce the size of the stator. For this reason single-phase LSPM is necessary to examine the thermal analysis. Thermal analysis was performed using heat source mapping, and it is verified by finite element method.

  • The single phase line start permanent magnet motor has high efficiency and power factor when it operates synchronous speed. The rotor structure is composed of permanent magnet and cage bars. The motor is accelerated by rotor bars and synchronized by magnet and rotor saliency. but starting torque is disturbed by magnet braking torque so, to obtain good starting performance and synchronizing capability. the design of proper permanent magnet is required.
