  • This study describes computational simulation results in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional space concerning large scale gap test(LSGT) by using commercial hydrocode such as AUTODYN and LS-DYNA to analyze the detonation phenomenons of high explosives. To consider the possibilities of LSGT simulation, we used Lee - Tarver reaction rate model of PBX-9404 and Comp-B which were implemented AUTODYN's material library. Also we have tried the diverse numerical schemes such as Lagrangian, Eulerian and ALE(Arbitary Lagrangian Eulerian), SPH(Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) in LSGT simulations. After LSGT simulations, we compared the simulation results with published results to verify the LSGT simulations. According to the LSGT simulations, we have concluded as follows. In 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional space, Lagrangian solver provided the most reliable results based on analysis time and accuracy. When using two hydrocodes in 2-dimensional space, the simulation results are almost same except one explosive model. We have verified the modeling method and simulation results of the LSGT by using the commenrcial hydrocode in this study.

  • We present the characteristics and the performance of the new CCD camera system, SNUCAM-II (Seoul National University CAMera system II) that was installed on the Lee Sang Gak Telescope (LSGT) at the Siding Spring Observatory Australia in 2016. SNUCAM-II consists of a deep depletion chip covering a wide wavelength from $0.3{\mu}m$ to $1.1{\mu}m$ with high sensitivity (QE at 90%). It is equipped with SDSS ugriz filters and 13 medium band width (50nm) filters. On LSGT, SNUCAM-II covers $15.7{\times}15.7arcmin$ FOV at pixel scale of 0.92 arcsec and a limiting magnitude of g = 19.91 AB mag at $5{\sigma}$ with 180s exposure time. SNUCAM-II will enable us to study Spectral Energy Distributions (SEDs) of diverse objects from extragalactic sources to solar objects in the southern hemisphere for research and education activities.

SNUCAM-II consists of a deep depletion chip covering a wide wavelength from $0.3{\mu}m$ to $1.1{\mu}m$ with high sensitivity (QE at > 80% over 0.4 to $0.9{\mu}m$). It is equipped with the SDSS ugriz filters and 13 medium band width (50 nm) filters, enabling us to study spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of diverse objects from extragalactic sources to solar system objects. On LSGT, SNUCAM-II offers $15.7{\times}15.7$ arcmin field-of-view (FOV) at a pixel scale of 0.92 arcsec and a limiting magnitude of g = 19.91 AB mag and z=18.20 AB mag at $5{\sigma}$ with 180 sec exposure time for point source detection.

  • We introduce the Lee Sang Gak Telescope (LSGT), a remotely operated, robotic 0.43-meter telescope. The telescope was installed at the Siding Spring Observatory, Australia, in 2014 October, to secure regular and exclusive access to the dark sky and excellent atmospheric conditions in the southern hemisphere from the Seoul National University (SNU) campus. Here, we describe the LSGT system and its performance, present example images from early observations, and discuss a future plan to upgrade the system. The use of the telescope includes (i) long-term monitoring observations of nearby galaxies, active galactic nuclei, and supernovae; (ii) rapid follow-up observations of transients such as gamma-ray bursts and gravitational wave sources; and (iii) observations for educational activities at SNU. Based on observations performed so far, we find that the telescope is capable of providing images to a depth of R = 21:5 mag (point source detection) at 5-σ with 15 min total integration time under good observing conditions.

  • In this study, measurement and analysis results from Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) on the newly developed high-energy thermoplastic elastomer(ETPE) propellant are described, followed by the previous study done under the same title as this paper [1]. The characteristics of high-energy thermoplastic propellant were also verified by conducting thermal analysis, and the LSGT, Shotgun & RQ Bomb test, was carried out as well. High energetic thermoplastic binders containing 45% of GAP(Glycidyl Azide Polymer), energetic plasticizer(DEGDN) and Oxidizer Aonium Perchlorate), RDX(reseach development explosive, cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine) were used to formulate the propellant.

  • In this talk, we introduce the Lee Sang Gak Telescope (LSGT), a 0.43m telescope that can be operated remotely. This telescope was installed at the Siding Spring Observatory in 2015 October, and since then, it has been operated through a robotic reservation system, remotely from Korea. This telescope is now being used for educational and research activities of SNU Astronomy program. By placing the telescope at a place with an excellent astro-climate in Australia, the observation class activity can include objects in the southern hemisphere to the magnitude limit of V=20 mag at an exposure time of a few minutes. For example, Cepheid stars in Magellanic clouds can be observed during a class activity for constructing the classical Cepheid light curves that has been a key distance measure technique. Research activities such as transient observation and monitoring observation of AGN are possible, and we are currently running a high cadence supernovae search program by monitoring nearby galaxies intensively (see a presentation by C. Choi). The installation of the telescope was made possible from a support from the Seoul.

  • Reverberation mapping is one of the best way to investigate structure and kinematics of broad-line regions around central supermassive black holes of active galactic nuclei (AGN). It is usually used to estimate masses of supermassive black holes. So far, reverberation mapping studies have achieved good results for dozens of AGN by spectroscopic monitoring. However, spectroscopic monitoring is time consuming and high cost. Here, we present result of photometric reverberation mapping with medium-band observation. We monitored five nearby AGN which are already studied, have short time-lag, and show bright H-alpha emission lines. Observation has been performed for ~3 months with ~3 days cadence using three medium-band filters installed in LSGT (Lee Sang Gak Telescope). We found 0.01-0.06 magnitude variations by differential photometry. Also time-lags between continuum light-curves and H-alpha emission line light-curves are calculated using Javelin software. The result shows that our study and previous studies are consistent within uncertainty range. From verification of availability in this study, photometric reverberation mapping could be used as a powerful tool to measure central supermassive black holes for large samples and high-redshift AGN in the future.

It is usually used to estimate the masses of supermassive black holes. Although spectroscopic reverberation mapping has used to study dozens of AGN, spectroscopic monitoring campaign of large sample is expansive. Here, we present results of photometric reverberation mapping with medium-band photometry. We monitored five nearby AGN which were already studied with H-alpha emission line. The result shows that our study and previous studies are consistent within uncertainty range. In the near future, medium-band photometric reverberation mapping seems useful to study large AGN samples. We will present preliminary result of following study that report new time lag measurement of six AGNs in the similar way.

  • Recently, weapon system has been highly regarding IM ability. Explosive is positively necessary in weapon system and it is principle component that must be improved for IM as the most hazardous material. RDX is one of energetic materials used the most at present since 1930s. It is being applied a lot to most of explosive in warhead and artillery and rocket propellants in these latter days due to its low cost and high energetic characteristics. However, it has a disadvantage which is more sensitive than some insensitive explosive like NTO, DADNE recently developed. To overcome this, researches have been continued about insensitive RDX and we are performing the study as well. In this study, we developed to apply reduced sensitivity RDX to pilot scale and mass production and we could confirm a result by shock sensitivity test.
