Multiple Access Interference Rejection Code: LS Code

  • A new code, LS code, was proposed for the IMT-2000 CDMA system. The code has special properties during a specific time interval: 1) perfect autocorrelation, and 2) perfect crosscorrelation. Perfect autocorrelation means maximum autocorrelation for zero time-offset and zero autocorrelation for all other times during a specific time interval. Moreover, perfect crosscorrelation means that the crosscorrelation has zero value during a certain time, you can remove all the MAI within that time. However, the detailed properties of LS code and its exact generation method have been previously unknown. Therefore, we investigate the LS code in regards to its exact generating method, properties, and performances in this paper.

시간영역 문턱값을 이용한 OFDM 시스템의 채널 추정 성능 향상 (Performance Improvement of Channel Estimation based on Time-domain Threshold for OFDM Systems)

  • OFDM 시스템에서의 채널 추정은 주로 주파수 영역에서 수신단에 알려진 파일럿 신호를 이용하여 이루어진다. 이러한 채널 추정은 크게 LS 기법과 MMSE 기법으로 나누어지는데 LS 기법은 MMSE 기법보다 복잡도가 낮아서 구현이 간단하다는 장점이 있지만 잡음의 효과를 고려하지 않기 때문에 MMSE 기법보다 추정 성능이 다소 떨어진다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 LS 기법의 단점을 극복하기 위하여 시간영역으로 변환된 채널 계수에 최적의 문턱값(Threshold)을 적용하여 잡음을 제거함으로써 채널 추정의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 문턱값은 주파수영역에서 추정된 채널 계수의 웨이브렛 변환을 통하여 얻어진 표준편차에 의해 결정된다. 모의실험을 통해 제안된 방법이 기존 LS 기법보다 모든 SNR에서 채널 추정 성능이 우수함을 보인다.

고속 시변 채널 OFDM을 위한 저복잡도 LS 채널 예측의 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of Low Complexity LS Channel Estimation for OFDM in Fast Time Varying Channels)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속 시변 채널 OFDM을 위한 저복잡도 LS(Least Squares) 채널 예측의 성능 개선 방안을 제안한다. 저복잡도 LS 채널 예측을 위해 사용하는 CE-BEM(Complex Exponential-Basis Expansion Model) 채널 모델의 경우 채널 모델 자체의 문제점으로 인하여 채널 예측 성능 저하가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 우선 시간 영역 윈도우를 이용하여 데이터 심볼에 의한 ICI(Interchannel Interference)의 영향을 제거한다. LS 채널 예측 결과에서 샘플을 취하여 윈도우의 영향을 제거한 후 특성이 채널 변화의 표현에 적합한 DPSS(Discrete Prolate Spheroidal Sequences)를 기저함수(basis function)로 하는 보간 (interpolation) 방식으로 채널 응답을 복원하여 CE-BEM의 문제점을 해결한다. 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통한 성능 확인 결과 제안된 채널 예측 방식은 기존의 방식과 비교하여 특히 고속 시변 채널에서 우수한 성능 개선 효과를 보여주며, 선택된 기저함수의 형태뿐만 아니라 기저함수의 개수의 설정이 성능을 크게 좌우하는 또 다른 요소임을 확인하였다.

  • This paper analyzes the method of cascading 74LS163 4-Bit Binary Counters. The 74LS163 4-Bit Binary Counter has synchronous LD. CLR functions and especially ENT, ENP, RCO to cascade some chips in order to count more 4bit binary number. The maximum operating frequency may vary according to the method of cascading. The Data sheet from Texas Instruments introduces two methods, The Ripple Carry Mode Circuit and The Carry Look Ahead Circuit, and shows that The Carry Look Ahead Circuit is more efficient than the other. However, there are only little information for user to understand and apply this to other circuits. Thus, we not only analyzed the two methods but also compared with each other in the point of performance.

Variable selection for multiclassi cation by LS-SVM

  • For multiclassification, it is often the case that some variables are not important while some variables are more important than others. We propose a novel algorithm for selecting such relevant variables for multiclassification. This algorithm is base on multiclass least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM), which uses results of multiclass LS-SVM using one-vs-all method. Experimental results are then presented which indicate the performance of the proposed method.

  • ILSP 알고리즘의 계산량을 줄일수 있는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 블록단위로 계산되는 기존의 알고리즘과 달리, Sequential 하게 계산을 진행하므로 계산량이 매우 감소된다. 그러나, 성능은 기존의 알고리즘과 똑같은 결과를 보여준다. Rayleigh Fading 채널의 CDMA 환경에서 시뮬레이션을 구현했다.

  • OPGW(Optical Ground Wire) whose demand is increasing worldwide have composite function as optical communication and grounding for preventing transmission line from lightning. While continuous efforts have been made to increase the transmission capacity and speed, the working method to replace the existing ground wire with OPGW under live-line condition is coming to force newly as installation aspects. Particularly, this requirement became more serious in developing country that the electric power supply is not sufficient and power outage is impossible for supply and dead of electric power LS cable Ltd. has developed the new installation method in full live-line condition to solve the confronted problem and to meet the market demand. In this paper, Electric Problems in live-line installation is considered to predict dry-band arcing. This can be used by Makers to predict dry-band arcing in insulating ropes installed on earth wire of power transmission system.

Face Recognition Robust to Local Distortion Using Modified ICA Basis Image

  • The performance of face recognition methods using subspace projection is directly related to the characteristics of their basis images, especially in the cases of local distortion or partial occlusion. In order for a subspace projection method to be robust to local distortion and partial occlusion, the basis images generated by the method should exhibit a part-based local representation. We propose an effective part-based local representation method named locally salient ICA (LS-ICA) method for face recognition that is robust to local distortion and partial occlusion. The LS-ICA method only employs locally salient information from important facial parts in order to maximize the benefit of applying the idea of 'recognition by parts.' It creates part-based local basis images by imposing additional localization constraint in the process of computing ICA architecture I basis images. We have contrasted the LS-ICA method with other part-based representations such as LNMF (Localized Non-negative Matrix Factorization)and LFA (Local Feature Analysis). Experimental results show that the LS-ICA method performs better than PCA, ICA architecture I, ICA architecture II, LFA, and LNMF methods, especially in the cases of partial occlusions and local distortion

  • This paper describes a method for identifying the dynamic characteristics of air foil bearings for high speed turbomachinerys with the LS/IV method. In fact identifying the characteristics of air foil bearings is very difficult work, and it is tried to identify it. Experiments were conducted to determine the structural dynamic and hydrodynamic characteristics of air foil bearings. Numerical predictions compare the static and dynamic force performances. The housing of the bearing on the journal was driven by the impact hammer which were used to simulate impact force acting on air foil bearings. The characteristics of air foil bearings were extracted from the frequency response function (FRF) by LS(Least Square) method and IV(Instrumental Variable) method. The experiment was tested at 0 rpm and $10000\sim16000rpm$. And the test results were introduced about the dynamic characteristics of air foil bearings, and also compared with theoritical results.

  • In this paper, we present the results of the numerical analysis employing CONWEP, LS-DYNA FSI(Fluid Structure Interaction), AUTODYN FSI, LS-DYNA ALE(Arbitrary Lagrange Eulerian) and combination of CONWEP and LS-DYNA ALE for blast door fracture and wave propagation through the tunnel by the external explosion. We compared the numerical analysis results with the subscale test data and selected combination of CONWEP and LS-DYNA ALE method as adequate data generation method for the FRM(Fast Running Model) software development. It is expected to save much time and costs by using the numerical simulation data for the various test conditions.
