  • The proposed method uses Generalized Cross Correlation - Phase Transform (GCC-PHAT) method with nonlinear preprocessing and a frequency domain low-pass filter. In this paper, by reinterpreting the calculation process of GCC-PHAT as DFT, we derive that there is an effective frequency band used for time delay estimation in GCC-PHAT, and by using only the effective band using a low-pass filter, the noise component is reduced and it improvesthe time delay performance in impulsive noise environments. By comparing the proposed method with the traditional GCC-PHAT in an impulsive noise environment, we show that the GCC-PHAT becomes more robust to the impulsive noise.

  • Recently, the amount of adult reading has been continuously decreasing, but the consumption of video content is increasing. Accordingly, there is no information on preferences and behavior patterns for new users, and user evaluation or purchase of new books are insufficient, causing cold start problems and data scarcity problems. In this paper, a hybrid book recommendation system based on video content was proposed. The proposed recommendation system can not only solve the cold start problem and data scarcity problem by utilizing the contents of the video, but also has improved performance compared to the traditional book recommendation system, and even high-quality recommendation results that reflect genre, plot, and rating information-based user taste information were confirmed.

  • We explore technology ecosystem of smart surgical medical system by analyzing patent data applied for in Korea and Japan. First, a review of trends of patent application by country/technological domain show that there exist a minority of technology domains focused on R&D, which represent their trends have been increasingly active. Also, while a number of Japanese firms mainly consist of the patent market of Japan, in case of the Korean market, a few universities, SMEs, and foreign firms are found to be the main applicants. As a result of the network analysis with the links as the relations of co-patenting, the relationships, which are active of convergence and knowledge spillover among the heterogeneous technology domains within each market, as well as the technology domains, which are the most active in international cooperation among each homogeneous domain, could get derived and visualized in the ecosystem. In addition, the technology domains in each patent market with leading locations, roles, and influence in the network can also be identified through the centrality analysis. In this study, the analysis for technology competitiveness are carried out focusing on patent activity and patent impact. The results denote that across all domains, the Japanese market may possess higher patent activity and patent impact compared to the Korean market. In consequence, we derive the position map for comparison by country and technology domain from a perspective considering comprehensively the multi-dimensional attributes based on the results of both network analysis and technology competitiveness.

  • Achieving the beneficiary goal of recent discovery in human genome project still needs a way to retrieve and analyze the exponentially expanding bio-related information. Research on bio-related fields naturally applies knowledge discovered to the current problem and make inferences to extract new information where shared concepts and data containing information need to be defined and used in a coherent way. In such a professional domain, while the need to help users reduce their work and to improve search results has been emerged, methods for systematic retrieval and adequate exchange of relevant information are still in their infancy. The design of our system aims at improving the quality of information retrieval in a professional domain by utilizing both corpus-based and concept-based ontology. Meta-rules of helping users to make an adequate query are formed into an ontology in the domain. The integration of those knowledge permits the system to retrieve relevant information in a more semantic and systematic fashion. This work mainly describes the query models with details of GUI and a secondary query generation of the system.

  • Let $R{\subseteq}T$ be an extension of integral domains, X be an indeterminate over T, and R[X] and T[X] be polynomial rings. Then $R{\subseteq}T$ is said to be LCM-stable if $(aR{\cap}bR)T=aT{\cap}bT$ for all $0{\neq}a,b{\in}R$. Let $w_A$ be the so-called $w$-operation on an integral domain A. In this paper, we introduce the notions of $w(e)$- and $w$-LCM-stable extensions: (i) $R{\subseteq}T$ is $w(e)$-LCM-stable if $((aR{\cap}bR)T)_{w_T}=aT{\cap}bT$ for all $0{\neq}a,b{\in}R$ and (ii) $R{\subseteq}T$ is $w$-LCM-stable if $((aR{\cap}bR)T)_{w_R}=(aT{\cap}bT)_{w_R}$ for all $0{\neq}a,b{\in}R$. We prove that LCM-stable extensions are both $w(e)$-LCM-stable and $w$-LCM-stable. We also generalize some results on LCM-stable extensions. Among other things, we show that if R is a Krull domain (resp., $P{\upsilon}MD$), then $R{\subseteq}T$ is $w(e)$-LCM-stable (resp., $w$-LCM-stable) if and only if $R[X]{\subseteq}T[X]$ is $w(e)$-LCM-stable (resp., $w$-LCM-stable).

  • Objective : In period of convalescence and aftereffect, facial palsy patients suffer from social and psychological problems, besides experiencing physical inconvenience. So Quality of life is important Evaluation in treatment or facial palsy. Nevertheless the aims of recent study were only trying to explain about objective symptoms. Therefore, Oriental-Western Medicine was performed, effectiveness of treatment were measured in Quality of life. Methods : Acute facial palsy patients who visiting whin 5days completed questionnaire about Quality of life, if he(or she) participated voluntarily. Questionnaire are comprised of general characteristics, Facial Disability Index(FDI), WHOQOL-BREF, VAS and House-Brackmann grade. Questionnaire used two times, the first medical examination and 4weeks later after starting Oriental-Western Medicine. The statistical analysis was performed by GraphPad Prism 4.0. T-test was used to verify effectiveness between the two groups. Results : 1. When we compared the first medical examination with 4weeks later, score of FDI-Physical function and FDI-Social/Well-bieng function increased but they were not valid statistically. 2. When we compared the first medical examination with 4weeks later, in WHOQOL-Brefoverall domain and physical domain, score increased. In WHOQOL-Bref-psychological, Social, Environment domain, score decreased. but, they were not valid statistically. 3. VAS, House-Brackmann grade decreased, but, they were not valid statistically. Conclusion : The number of subjects with facial palsy in our study(N=5) was too small, and the period of study(4 weeks) was short, too. For this reason, our data were not valid statistically. But Facial palsy Patient's Quality of life has risen.

  • In this paper, we propose a power allocation scheme of the unlicensed user based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in the TV white space (TVWS). Power constraints in TVWS should be satisfied in the time domain. However, because OFDM has high PAPR (peak-to-average power ratio), it is difficult to satisfy power constraints of TVWS in the time domain. Furthermore, the conventional power allocation schemes cannot be generally applied to unlicensed user in TVWS. Therefore, we propose a power allocation scheme to satisfy power constraints of TVWS by reducing PAPR in the time domain. In addition, we analyze the capacity of the unlicensed user based on OFDM in a closed form. Based on the capacity analysis, as the number of subcarriers decreases, the capacity can be enhanced. In simulation results, we show that the capacity of the unlicensed user increases, as the number of subcarriers decreases and the mean of the channel between the transmitter and the receiver of the unlicensed user increases.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the level of elementary gifted students' argumentation and examine the special features of argumentation founded in scientific inquiry. 28 students were selected in the special education center for the gifted in K National University. They were organized 8 groups of 3~4 students and engaged in scientific inquiry activity. The researcher wasn't involved in students' inquiry activity and argumentation except for the guiding and introducing their activity. In the first session, each group carried out the experiment 'Putting a heated can in the water' and then, the students discussed to probe their experimental results and build their explanation. In the second session, each group presented their experiment results and evidence from their experiment justifying their claims, and had questions from other groups. The protocol data during 8 groups' argumentations were analyzed using 'Rubric for Scientific Argumentation Assessment' (Yang et al., 2009) in three domains- the form, content and attitude. As a result, in form domain, almost groups were rated 2 points due to their argument without rebuttal on the subcategory of 'composition', but they got a good grade above 3 points in subcategory such as 'claim', 'ground', and 'conclusion'. In content domain, almost groups got points above 3 points. In attitude domain, there were some striking contrast between each groups. Six groups got good score more than 4 points on the subcategory of openness, but two groups, they alleged and got score below 3 point. While the 6 groups of all got 4 points in the aspect of participation, 3 groups got 3 points lower than because they only just asserted and not interact with other groups. Throughout the argumentation, two features were found that; as time goes by, arguments were refined; Students tended to use their prior to knowledge rather than evidence such as experimental data in making claims and conclusions.

  • In this study, crosstalk between dominant interconnect pairs in an A/D converter circuit is analyzed in frequency domain and effects of termination conditions on crosstalk are described, based on the practical circuit conditions. An A/D converter circuit is a mixed circuit where both clean and noisy signals coexist such that the circuit probably suffers from distortion by crosstalk. An analog input signal and the reference voltage signal, which dominate the overall conversion performance of the A/D converter circuit, are ready to be distorted by crosstalk and include specific termination conditions, such as non-matching and capacitive termination, respectively. Thus, this study presents the model of crosstalk considering impedance mismatch at both ends and analyzes effects of the practical termination conditions in the analog input and the reference voltage interconnects on crosstalk. A typical circuit configuration of the two interconnects is described and crosstalk including near-end and far-end termination impedances is modeled. Effects of the near-end impedance mismatch in the analog input interconnect and the far-end capacitive termination in the reference voltage interconnect are estimated in the frequency domain by using the model of crosstalk and experiments are performed to confirm the estimated results. Microstrip lines are used as interconnects, involving the increase of loss in high frequencies.

  • The biggest problem in the AI field, which has become a hot topic in recent years, is how to deal with the lack of training data. Since manual data construction takes a lot of time and efforts, it is non-trivial for an individual to easily build the necessary data. On the other hand, automatic data construction needs to handle data quality issue. In this paper, we introduce a method to automatically extract the data required to develop Korean speech command recognizer from the web and to automatically select the data that can be used for training data. In particular, we propose a modified ResNet model that shows modest performance for the automatically constructed Korean speech command data. We conducted an experiment to show the applicability of the command set of the health and daily life domain. In a series of experiments using only automatically constructed data, the accuracy of the health domain was 89.5% in ResNet15 and 82% in ResNet8 in the daily lives domain, respectively.
