Rural Land Cover Classification using Multispectral Image and LIDAR Data (디중분광영상과 LIDAR자료를 이용한 농업지역 토지피복 분류)

  • The accuracy of rural land cover using airborne multispectral images and LEAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data was analyzed. Multispectral image consists of three bands in green, red and near infrared. Intensity image was derived from the first returns of LIDAR, and vegetation height image was calculated by difference between elevation of the first returns and DEM (Digital Elevation Model) derived from the last returns of LIDAR. Using maximum likelihood classification method, three bands of multispectral images, LIDAR vegetation height image, and intensity image were employed for land cover classification. Overall accuracy of classification using all the five images was improved to 85.6% about 10% higher than that using only the three bands of multispectral images. The classification accuracy of rural land cover map using multispectral images and LIDAR images, was improved with clear difference between heights of different crops and between heights of crop and tree by LIDAR data and use of LIDAR intensity for land cover classification.

Characteristics Analysis and Reliability Verification of Nacelle Lidar Measurements (나셀 라이다 측정 데이터 특성 분석 및 신뢰성 검증)

  • A study on Nacelle Lidar (Light detection and ranging) measurement error and the data reliability verification was carried out at Haengwon wind farm on Jeju Island. For measurement data error processing, the characteristics of Nacelle Lidar measurements were analyzed by dividing into three parts, which are weather conditions (temperature, humidity, atmosphere, amount of precipitation), mechanical movement (rotation of wind turbine blades, tilt variation of Nacelle Lidar) and Nacelle Lidar data availability. After processing the measurement error, the reliability of Nacelle Lidar data was assessed by comparing with wind data by an anemometer on a met mast, which is located at a distance of 200m from the wind turbine with Nacelle Lidar. As a result, various weather conditions and mechanical movement did not disturb reliable data measurement. Nacelle Lidar data with availability of 95% or more could be used for checking Nacelle Lidar wind data reliability. The reliability of Nacelle Lidar data was very high with regression coefficient of 98% and coefficient of determination of 97%.

Measurements of the Lidar Ratio for Asian Dust and Pollution Aerosols with a Combined Raman and Back-scatter Lidar (라만-탄성 라이다를 이용한 황사 및 오염 에어러솔의 라이다 비 측정 연구)

  • The vertical profiles of the extinction coefficient, the backscatter coefficient, and the lidar ratio (i.e., extinction-to-backscattering ratio) for Asian dust and pollution aerosols are determined from Raman (inelastic) and elastic backscatter signals. The values of lidar ratios during two polluted days is found between 52 and 82 sr (July 22, 2009) and 40~60 sr (July 31, 2009) at 52 nm, with relatively low value of particle depolarization ratio (<5%) and high value of sun photometer-derived Angstrom exponent (> 1.2). However, lidar ratios between 25 and 40 sr are found during two Asian dust periods (October 20, 2009 and March 15, 2010), with 10~20% of particle depolarization ratio and the relatively low value of sun photometer-derived Angstrom exponent (< 0.39). The lidar ratio, particle depolarization ratio and color ratio are useful optical parameter to distinguish non-spherical coarse dust and spherical fine pollution aerosols. The comparison of aerosol extinction profiles determined from inelastic-backscatter signals by the Raman method and from elastic-backscatter signals by using the Fernald method with constant value of lidar ratio (50 sr) have shown that reliable aerosol extinction coefficients cannot be determined from elastic-backscatter signals alone, because the lidar ratio varies with aerosol types. A combined Raman and elastic backscatter lidar system can provide reliable information about the aerosol extinction profile and the aerosol lidar ratio.

  • LIDAR는 레이저를 대기에 송출하여 미세먼지의 이동에 의한 도플러 위상차를 검출함으로써 3차원 풍속벡터를 측정하는 원격탐사 장비로, 한국에너지기술연구원은 국내최초로 WindCube LIDAR를 도입하여 운영 중에 있다. LIDAR의 장점은 이동성, 설치의 편리성 외에도 현재까지 풍황탑이 모든 범위를 측정하지 못한 풍력발전기 블레이드 회전면 최고 높이인 지면 150m 까지의 풍속분포를 상세하게 측정할 수 있다는 특장점이 있다. WindCube LIDAR는 총 10개의 측정 고도를 설정할 수 있으며 1Hz로 원시자료를 획득하여 10분 평균자료로 저장한다. 이러한 측정자료를 통하여 기존 기상탑에서 불가능하였던 풍속분포의 정확한 이해와 난류특성의 파악이 가능하게 되었으나 반대급부로 급증한 측정자료의 정리와 분석에 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하게 되었다. 이에 한국에너지기술연구원에서는 LIDAR 측정자료의 가공 및 분석에 편리성을 제공하기 위해 KIER-$LidarWind^{TM}$ 프로그램을 개발하였으며, 2차원 등치선도 및 3차원 풍속분포 그래프를 시각함으로써 입체적인 가공 및 분석이 가능하도록 하였다.

The Measurement of the LIDAR Ratio by Using the Rotational Raman LIDAR

  • The rotational Raman LIDAR technique has been used to accurately measure aerosol optical properties such as backscatter coefficient, extinction coefficient, and LIDAR ratio. In the case of the vibrational Raman technique, the ${\AA}$ngstr$\ddot{o}$om exponent, which has wavelength dependence on the particle properties, is assumed to obtain the extinction coefficient. However, this assumed ${\AA}$ngstr$\ddot{o}$m exponent can cause systematic errors in retrieving aerosol optical properties. In the case of the rotational Raman technique, the aerosol optical properties can be measured without any assumptions about the ${\AA}$ngstr$\ddot{o}$m exponent. In this paper, the LIDAR ratio was measured by using the rotational Raman LIDAR and vibrational Raman LIDAR in the troposphere. And, the LIDAR ratios measured by these two methods were compared.

  • Lidar(Light Detection and Hanging, Ladar)는 물체에 반사되어 되돌아오는 광학신호를 관측하여 물체와의 거리를 측정하는 센서로 정밀한 3차원 모델 생성 및 도시지역의 변화탐지 등에 효율적으로 적용될 수 있다. 시뮬레이션은 시스템의 동작을 인공적으로 만들어 내고, 이 동작의 실행을 관찰하여 실제 시스템의 특성을 추론하는 일련의 활동으로, 하드웨어의 설계 및 분석, 보완, 성능 평가 등에 효율적으로 이용된다. 본 연구에서는 Lidar 시스템의 원리 및 구조 분석을 통해서 Lidar 데이터를 시뮬레이션하기 위한 소프트웨어를 설계하였다. Lidar의 특성이 시뮬레이션 소프트웨어에 정확하게 구현되도록 하기위해 Lidar 동작과 관련된 내부 및 외부요소를 분석하고 기능에 따라 추상화하여 소프트웨어 모들로 구성하였다. 시스템 내부요소로 송신부 수신부 신호/영상처리부 모델과 외부환경요소로 비행환경 모델, 타겟 모델, 대기 모델을 정의하였다. 또한, Lidar 시스템 실행 중에 발생하는 주요 프로세스를 함수 모듈로 정의함으로서, 모델들 간의 구조적인 관계를 정의하였다. 본 연구의 설계결과는 이후 Lidar시뮬레이션 소프트웨어의 보다 체계적인 구현에 적용될 예정이다.

  • 자율주행 시뮬레이터를 위한 대체재로 게임 엔진을 통한 가상 환경 모의 연구가 수행되고 있다. 하지만 게임 엔진에서는 자율 주행에 필요한 센서를 기기에 맞게 사용자가 직접 모델링을 해줘야 하기 때문에 개발 비용이 크게 작용된다. 특히, Ray 를 활용한 3D LIDAR 는 GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) 사용량이 많은 작업이기 때문에 저비용 시뮬레이터를 위해서는 저비용 3D LIDAR 모의가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 낮은 컴퓨터 연산을 사용하는 C++ 기반 3D LIDAR 모의 프레임 워크를 제안한다. 제안된 3D LIDAR 는 다수의 언덕으로 이루어진 비포장 Map 에서 성능을 검증 하였으며, 성능 검증을 의해 본 논문에서 생성된 3D LIDAR 로 간단한 LPP(Local Path Planning) 생성 방법도 소개한다. 제안된 3D LIDAR 프레임 워크는 저비용 실시간 모의가 필요한 자율 주행 분야에 적극 활용되길 바란다.

Information Fusion of Photogrammetric Imagery and Lidar for Reliable Building Extraction (광학 영상과 Lidar의 정보 융합에 의한 신뢰성 있는 구조물 검출)

  • We propose a new building detection and description algorithm for Lidar data and photogrammetric imagery using color segmentation, line segments matching, perceptual grouping. Our algorithm consists of two steps. In the first step, from the initial building regions extracted from Lidar data and the color segmentation results from the photogrammetric imagery, we extract coarse building boundaries based on the Lidar results with split and merge technique from aerial imagery. In the secondstep, we extract precise building boundaries based on coarse building boundaries and edges from aerial imagery using line segments matching and perceptual grouping. The contribution of this algorithm is that color information in photogrammetric imagery is used to complement collapsed building boundaries obtained by Lidar. Moreover, linearity of the edges and construction of closed roof form are used to reflect the characteristic of man-made object. Experimental results on multisensor data demonstrate that the proposed algorithm produces more accurate and reliable results than Lidar sensor.

  • Airborne LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology has reached a degree of the required accuracy in mapping professions, and advanced LIDAR systems are becoming increasingly common in the various fields of application. LiDAR data constitute an excellent source of information for reconstructing the Earth's surface due to capability of rapid and dense 3D spatial data acquisition with high accuracy. However, organizing the LIDAR data and extracting information from the data are difficult tasks because LIDAR data are composed of randomly distributed point clouds and do not provide sufficient semantic information. The main reason for this difficulty in processing LIDAR data is that the data provide only irregularly spaced point coordinates without topological and relational information among the points. This study introduces an efficient and robust method for automatic extraction of building footprints using airborne LIDAR data. The proposed method separates ground and non-ground data based on the histogram analysis and then rearranges the building boundary points using convex hull algorithm to extract building footprints. The method was implemented to LIDAR data of the heavily built-up area. Experimental results showed the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method for automatic producing building layers of the large scale digital maps and 3D building reconstruction.

Updating of Digital Map using Digital Image and LIDAR (디지털 영상과 LIDAR 자료를 이용한 수치지도 갱신)

  • LIDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) is a new technology for obtaining DEM(Digital Elevation Model)ewith high density and high point acuracy. As LIDAR emerged, DEM could be developed in the earthsurface more efficiently and more economically, compared to the conventional aerial photogrametry.In this study, a digital camera is simultaneously used in combined LIDAR surveying, and acquired digitial image and DEM produce digital orthoimage. In this process, methods of combining sensor andorthoimage, GCPs determined by GPS surveying are used. Two digital orthoimage are produced; onewith a few GCP and the other without them. The produced maps can be used to corect or revised1:1,000 or 1:5,000 scale maps acordingly.
