Combustion and emission characteristics in a direct injection diesel engine is closely related to the intake port system. It is therefore important to understand the swirl flow characteristics formed by a helical intake port. However there are still many uncertainties. The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate the effects of the valve eccentricity ratio and the inlet flow conditions of a helical intake port on the characteristics of an in-cylinder swirl flow. A steady state flow test rig consisted of ISM(impulse swirl meter), LFM(laminar flow meter) and cylinder head with a helical intake port was used. The swirl ratio(Rs) and mean flow coefficient(Cf(mean)) with inlet flow conditions were measured. The results of these experiment can be summarized as follows. Swirl flow characteristics of a helical intake port are affected by the inlet flow conditions, and especially they are much affected by the length of a manifold runner and the rotational angle of a curved manifold runner.

Nano adhesion between SPM (scanning probe microscope) tips and $DDPO_{4}$ (dodecylphosphoric acid ester) and $ODPO_{4}$ (octadecylphosphoric acid ester) SAM (self-assembled monolayer) was experimentally studied. Tests were performed to measure the nano adhesion and friction in both AFM(atomic force microscope) and LFM(lateral force microscope) modes with the applied normal load. $DDPO_{4}$ and $ODPO_{4}$ SAM were formed on TiMe and TiOx surfaces. TiMe and TiOx were coated on the Si wafer by ion sputtering. Adhesion and friction of $DDPO_{4}$ and $ODPO_{4}$ SAM surfaces were compared with those of OTS (octadecyltrichlorosilane) SAM and DLC surfaces. $DDPO_{4}$ and $ODPO_{4}$ SAM converted the TiMe and TiOx surfaces to be hydrophobic. When the surface was hydrophobic, the adhesion and friction forces were found lower than those of bare surfaces. Work of adhesion was also discussed to explain how the surface was converted into hydrophobic. Results also showed that tribological characteristics of $DDPO_{4}$ and $ODPO_{4}$ had good properties in the adhesion, friction, wetting angle and work of adhesion. $DDPO_{4}$ and $ODPO_{4}$ SAM could be one of the candidates for the bio-MEMS elements.
The understanding of the friction characteristics of micro-textured surface is of great importance to enhance the tribological properties of nano- and micro-devices. We fabricate rectangular patterns with submicron-scale structures on a Si wafer surface with various pitches and heights by using a focused ion beam (FIB). In addition, we fabricate tilted rectangular patterns to identify the influence of the tilt angle ($45^{\circ}$ and $135^{\circ}$) on friction behaviour. We perform the friction test using lateral force microscopy (LFM) employing a colloidal probe. We fabricate the colloidal probe by attaching a $10{\pm}1-{\mu}m$-diameter borosilicate glass sphere to a tipless silicon cantilever by using a ultraviolet cure adhesive. The applied normal loads range between 200 nN and 1100 nN and the sliding speed was set to $12{\mu}m/s$. The test results show that the friction behavior varied depending on the pitch, height, and tilt angle of the microstructure. The friction forces were relatively lower for narrower and deeper pitches. The comparison of friction force between the sub-micro-structured surfaces and the original Si surface indicate an improvement of the friction property at a low load range. The current study provides a better understanding of the influence of pitch, height, and tilt angle of the microstructure on their tribological properties, enabling the design of sub-micro- and micro-structured Si surfaces to improve their mechanical durability.
The purpose of this study was to analyze kinematic variables during turing back kick motion of Taekwondo. The subjects of this study were the 4 skilled and 4 unskilled of male university player in respectively. The experiment of this study was used two 16mm high speed cameras and its speed 125 frames/s. Analysis of this data was three dimensional cinematography using KWON3D program package. The results were as following; 1. In the elapsed time, there was no significance difference statically between a skilled and unskilled group. But skilled group was more fast during the motion of I phase. And unskilled group was more fast during the motion of II phase so called force production section, which had an influence on Diechagi's velocity. 2. In the center of gravity of human body, the changing of it was $1.10{\pm}0.04m$, $1.12{\pm}0.03m$ of LFM(left foot movement) and $1.36{\pm}0.08m$, $1.39{\pm}0.09m$ of RKF(right knee flection), and $1.44{\pm}0.08m$, $1.42{\pm}0.09m$ of RFI(right foot impact). There was no significance difference statically between the two groups. 3. The velocity of heel on impact was 1.13m/s in the skilled group and 1.23m/s in the unskilled group, when each angle of knee was $110.4{\pm}10.9deg/s$, $114.8{\pm}28.4deg/s$. The maximum velocity of each performance was reached before the RKF, and the velocity and angle at impact along by two groups did not show any significant difference statically. 4. In the angular velocity of just RKF of lower leg, there was significance difference statically between the two groups(p<.05).

Teflon like fluorocarbon thin films have been deposited on silicon and oxide molds as an antistiction layer for the hot embossing process by an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The process was performed at $C_4F_8$ gas flow rate of 2 sccm and 30 W of plasma power as a function of substrate temperature. The thickness of film was measured by a spectroscopic ellipsometry. These films were left in a vacuum oven of 100, 200 and $300^{\circ}C$ for a week. The change of film thickness, contact angle and adhesion and friction force was measured before and after the thermal test. No degradation of film was observed when films were treated at $100^{\circ}C$. The heat treatment of films at 200 and $300^{\circ}C$ caused the reduction of contact angles and film thickness in both silicon and oxide samples. Higher adhesion and friction forces of films were also measured on films treated at higher temperatures than $100^{\circ}C$. No differences on film properties were found when films were deposited on either silicon or oxide. A 100 nm silicon template with 1 to $500\;{\mu}m$ patterns was used for the hot embossing process on $4.5\;{\mu}m$ thick PMMA spun coated silicon wafers. The antistiction layer of 10 nm was deposited on the silicon mold. No stiction or damages were found on PMMA surfaces even after 30 times of hot embossing at $200^{\circ}C$ and 10 kN.

In recent times, the median filtering (MF) detector as a forensic tool for the recovery of forgery images' processing history has concerned broad interest. For the classification of MF image, MF detector should be designed with smaller feature set and higher detection ratio. This paper presents a novel method for the detection of MF in altered images. It is transformed from BMP to several kinds of MF image by the median window size. The difference distribution values are computed according to the window sizes and then the values construct the feature set same as the MF window size. For the MF detector, the feature set transformed to the model specification which is computed using latent growth modeling (LGM). Through experiments, the test image is classified by the discriminant into two classes: the true positive (TP) and the false negative (FN). It confirms that the proposed algorithm is to be outstanding performance when the minimum distance average is 0.119 in the confusion of TP and FN for the effectivity of classification.

In this paper, we designed a frequency synthesizer using DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) for Ka-band compact Radar. DDS is applied to generate various waveform and to cover high-speed frequency sweep. In order to reduce size, waveform generator and Ka band frequency up-converter are integrated in one module. Proposed frequency synthesizer provides LFM(Linear Frequency Modulation) waveform and Phase modulated FMCW (Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) waveform. It is observed that fabricated synthesizer performs $0.191{\mu}sec$ frequency switching time and -89.16 dBc/Hz phase noise at offset 1 kHz.

The experimental results of the model tests for the twin propeller cavitation noise are presented. The model test was carried out by means of procedure of noise measurement followed by the signal processing and full-scale extrapolation. In order to convert the measured sound pressure level into the sound source level, transfer function measurements for three conditions were performed according to the combination of locations and number of virtual sources. White noise and LFM signal were used as a source signals to examine the influence of the input signal. For the twin propellers, 5 transfer functions were defined and the results were discussed. Cavitation noise measurement tests were performed similarly to the transfer function measurement test. Noise source localization analysis was performed to confirm the test effectiveness. It was confirmed that the source level of the twin propeller can be estimated reliably by using transfer function corrections. Finally, the model test results were converted into full-scale by applying the ITTC '87 model-ship scaling raw, and the validity of the model test was confirmed by comparison with the full-scale measurement result.

The tribological properties and van der Waals attractive forces and the thermal stability of films are very important characteristics of highly hydrophobic fluorocarbon (FC) films for the long-term reliability of nano system. The effect of thermal annealing on films and van der Waals attractive forces and friction coefficient of films have been investigate d in this study. It was coated Al wafer which was treated O2 and Ar that ocatfluorocyclobutane ($C_4_{8}$) and Ar were supplied to the CVD chamber in the ratio of 2:3 for deposition of FC Films. Static contact angle and dynamic contact angle were used to characterize FC films. Thickness of films was measured by variable angle spectroscopy ellipsometer (VASE). Nanotribological data was got by atomic force microscopy (AFM) to measure roughness, lateral force microscopy (LFM) to measure friction force, and force vs. distance (FD) curve to evaluate adhesion force. FC films were cured in N2 and vacuum. The film showed the slight changes in its properties after 3 hr annealing. FTIR ATR studies showed the decrease of C-F peak intensity in the spectra as the annealing time increased. A significant decrease of film thickness has been observed. The friction force of Al surface was at least thirty times higher than ones with FC films. The adhesive force of bare Al was greater than 100 nN. After deposit FC films adhesive force was decreased to 40 nN. The adhesive force of films was decreased down to 10 nN after 24 hr annealing. During 24 hr annealing in $N_2$and vacuum at $100^{\circ}C$ film properties were not changed so much.

A linear frequency modulated pulse train waveform can be cost-effective in achieving high range resolution, and thus the synthetic aperture radar may be benefited by using the mixer output of the received signal. However, the image formation process from a mixer output is vulnerable to errors caused by stop-and-go approximation. In this paper, a nadir-looking imaging radar based on time domain correlation is proposed. Furthermore, to prevent the occurrence of ghosting effect in images, antenna placement on a rotating disk is proposed. Simulation results indicate that ghosting effect can be eliminated by employing the proposed antenna placement structure.
