Design and Fabrication of SiO2/TiO2 Multi Layer Thin Films on Silicon Encapsulation of LED Deposited by E-beam Evaporation for NIR Narrow Band Pass Filter Application (NIR 협대역 투과 필터 응용을 위한 LED 실리콘 봉지재 위에 직접 E-beam으로 증착 된 SiO2/TiO2 다층 박막 설계 및 제작)

  • The SiO2/TiO2 multilayer thin films used for narrow band pass filter were fabricated using E-beam evaporation method. The narrow band pass filter was used to enhance the resolution of spectroscopy and sensor applications with near infrared (NIR) light source. The narrow band pass filter with multilayer thin films were designed with Essential Macleod program. The multilayers of SiO2/TiO2 with 32 layers were deposited on the silicon encapsulation of IR with peak wavelength (λp) of 660 nm and NIR LEDs with λp of 830 nm, 880 nm, and 955 nm. After NIR light passed through the narrow band pass filter, the full width of half maximum of 33.4~48.6 nm became narrow to 20~24 nm owing to the absorption of photons with short or long wavelength of designed band of 20 nm. The SiO2/TiO2 band pass filter fabricated in this study can be used for sensor, optoelectronics, and NIR spectroscopy applications.

  • 노광을 통해 형성되는 패턴 단위를 Shot이라 부르며, 이때 노광되는 각 Shot은 Wafer상에 이전 Layer에서 형성되어 있는 Shot 위에 정확히 중첩되어 형성 시켜야하며, 노광된 Shot이 중첩되어야 할 이전 Layer의 Shot에 대해 얼마만큼의 위치적 오차를 가지고 형성 되었는가 하는 것은 중첩위치오차 (Overlay Alignment Error)로 계측 된다. 이렇게 계측된 중첩위치오차는 현재 진행된 Lot에 대한 재 공정 필요 여부를 결정하거나 다음 Lot 공정을 진행할 때 각 Shot를 이전 Layer Shot에 정확히 중첩시키기 위해 얼마만큼의 위치 보정이 필요한지를 결정하는데 사용된다. 이처럼 Device Node의 Shrink로 인해 엄격한 허용도를 만족시키기 위해서는 Overlay 측정 정확도의 향상이 매우 중요해 지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Halogen Lamp 대비 Led의 Light Intensity 부분에 대해 중점적으로 실험 하였으며, RBG Type의 Led는 Halogen Lamp Wavelength (광대역) 400nm ~ 800nm가 모두 포함된 White Light Source에서 특정한 단일파장대역 600nm ~ 650nm (가시광선 Led 영역)에서 계측하는 Layer에 대해 적용 가능성을 제시하였다.

Enhancement in the light extraction efficiency of 405 nm light-emitting diodes by adoption of a Ti-Al reflection layer (Ti-Al 반사막을 이용한 405 nm LED의 광추출 효율 향상)

  • GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) of a 405 nm wavelength have been fabricated on a sapphire substrate by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). In order to reflect the photons, which are generated in the InGaN active region and emitted to the backside, to the front surface, a reflection layer was deposited onto the back of the substrate. Aluminum was used as the reflection layer and Al was deposited on the sample followed by Ti evaporation for firm adhesion of the reflection layer to the substrate. The light extraction efficiency was enhanced 52 % by adoption of the Ti-Al reflection layer.

  • In this paper, we developed a system with a near-infrared LED light source with a wavelength of 950nm to acquire palm vein images and a white LED light source to acquire palm creases based on Raspberry Pi. In addition, we implemented a unique pattern-extractable image processing technology that can prevent counterfeiting and enhance security of mixed creases and palmprints through image pre-processing (Gray scaling, Histogram Equalization, Blurring, Thresholding, Thinning) for the acquired vein and palm images, and secured a source technology that can be used in a security-enhanced system.

Attraction Effects of Sex Pheromone and LED Mass-Trap to Spodoptera exigua and Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) Adults around the Tomato Greenhouse (토마토 재배지 성페로몬 및 LED 유인 트랩을 이용한 파밤나방(Spodoptera exigua)과 담배거세미나방(Spodoptera litura) 대량 포획)

  • The attraction effects of light emitting diode (LED) trap to Spodoptera exigua and Spodoptera litura adults were evaluated in greenhouse and compared with those of no light trap, which is typical used in commercial trap. At this time, in order to attract these two species of moths, sex pheromone traps were installed at the top side according to the degree of tomato growth inside the tomato cultivation greenhouse around the LED trap. In addition, two types of light-emitting traps (420 nm, 470 nm) were installed in the greenhouse at 1/40 m2, respectively. Also two sex pheromone were installed inside of the greenhouse according to the height of the tomato plants. 10 days later, Blue-light trap(BLB, 470 nm wavelength) was 3.1-3.5 times more attractive than Violet-light trap(VLB, 420 nm wavelength) in S. exigua (105.6 ± 7.3) and S. litura (42.0 ± 3.1) respectively, whereas the no-light trap was little attractive to S. exigua (33.7 ± 2.8) and S. litura (12.0 ± 1.5). On the other hand, after the installation of the sex pheromone trap and the LED trap, there was no damage to S. litura (Fabricius) and S. exigua in the pesticide-free area, indicating a high possibility of control. At this time, the operating cost of the two types of LED traps was 80 won/m2 per unit area, and it was confirmed that both types of moths could be controlled. In addition, as a result of confirming the number of two types of moths caught in the sexual pheromone trap and two types of LED traps after 4 months, it was judged that eco-friendly control was possible as more than 373 moths/trap were attracted to the two types of moths.

Effect of Light Quality on Growth and Fatty Acid Production in Chlorella vugaris Using Light Emitting Diodes (발광다이오드를 이용한 광파장에 따른 Chlorella vulgaris의 생장과 지방산 생산에 미치는 효과)

  • Microalgae are considered as superior biodiesel producers, because they could effectively produce high amount of lipid with fast growth rate. In this study, Chlorella vulgaris was exposed to various light wavelengths (${\lambda}_{max}$ 470 nm, ${\lambda}_{max}$ 525 nm, and ${\lambda}_{max}$ 660 nm) using light emitting diodes (LEDs) to examine effect of light quality on their growth and fatty acid production in 0.4-L bubble column photobioreactors. Fluorescent lamps were also used as polychromatic light sources (control). From the results, biomass productivity was varied by light wavelength from 0.05 g/L/day to 0.30 g/L/day. Maximum biomass productivity was obtained from red LED among tested ones. We also observed that contents of oleic acid and linolenic acid, which affect biodiesel properties, were significantly changed depending on supplied wavelength. These results indicated that production of algal biomass, and fatty acid content and productivity could be improved or controlled by supplying specific light wavelength.

Preparation and Photoluminescent Properties of NaCaPO4 Activated by Divalent Europium (2가 유로피움으로 활성화된 NaCaPO4의 합성과 광 특성)

  • In this study, divalent europium-activated $NaCaPO_4$ green phosphor powders were prepared by the chemical synthetic method followed by heat treatment in reduced atmosphere, and the crystal structures, morphologies and photoluminescent properties of the powders were investigated by x-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscope and spectrometer for the first time. The effects of Ca/P and Na/Ca mole ratios on the final products were also investigated. The influences of input amount change of europium as the activator on the light emission intensity were studied, and the resulting concentration quenching phenomenon was observed. The optimized synthesis conditions obtained in this study were Ca/P mole ratio 1.2, Na/Ca mole ratio 3.0 and 4 mole%Eu. The peak wavelength was 505 nm for all the samples. The result of excitation spectrum measurement indicated that the excitation efficiency was high for the long-wavelength UV region. It was thus concluded that the samples prepared in this study can be successfully applied for the light-emitting devices such as LED excited with long-wavelength UV light sources.

  • Additional magnetooptical Kerr effect (AMOKE) was observed in several multilayer structures. For Fe/Pd and Co/Cu Multilayers, AMOKE enhanced the Kerr rotation in short wavelength side, while for Fe/Ag and FeSi/Cu multilayer systems the Kerr rotation enhancement appeared in long wavelength side. A number of ferromagnetic/nonmagnetic/ferromagnetic(FM/NM/FM) sandwiches showed that the AMOKE led to oscillations of Kerr rotation and Kerr ellipticity in certain wavelength range with changing NM layer thickness similar to the oscillatory interlayer coupling. The oscillation of effective optical constants related to the MOKE oscillation was observed for the first time. The mechanisms of the AMOKE were discussed.

  • In this work, a simple and low cost sensor technique is proposed to test oil color in real time using in-line sensor. It is presented to use a ratio of intensity in red wavelength range to intensities of green and blue wavelength ranges (defined as a 'chromatic ratio') in order to estimate the oil color change. The proposed sensor technique is realized by irradiating a white LED as light source and a RGB color sensor as photoreceiver, and the chromatic ratio of various types of used oils are measured. The results show that chromatic ratio generally reflects chemical deterioration of oil, including oil oxidation and thermal degradation. It is concluded that the proposed sensor could be used for an effective oil monitoring technology.

Rietveld refinement study on variation of emission wavelength of $(Sr_{1-x},Ca_x)_2MgSi_2O_7:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor for white LED applications

  • In this study, a blue-emitting $Sr_2MgSi_2O_7:Eu^{2+}$ (SMS) phosphor for white light-emitting diodes is reported. Through transition of $4f{\rightarrow}5d$ in $Eu^{2+}$, SMS showed a strong blue emission under UV excitation. Additionally, the variation of emission wavelength of SMS is explained by crystal field effect and is supported by rietveld refinement.
