Analysis and Design of LCL Filter with Passive Damping Circuits for Three-phase Grid-connected Inverters

  • The analysis and design process of the LCL filter with passive damping circuits for three-phase grid-connected inverter are presented based on the generalized model of LCL filter. Several types of the passive damping circuits in previous studies could be compared and analyzed by using the generalized model considering various design criteria of passive damping circuits. According to the analysis in this paper, a reasonable configuration of passive damping circuits for three-phase grid-connected inverters is proposed. The validity of the proposed design process is verified by informative simulation and experimental results.

  • 기존 LCL필터 설계기법은 계통에 주입되는 전류의 고조파 저감만을 고려하였으나, 연료전지 시스템과 같이 독립부하가 존재하는 경우, 독립부하의 전압 품질을 보장할 수 있는 필터설계가 이루어져야 한다. 또한 필터성능은 유지하면서 인덕턴스와 캐패시턴스는 작게 설계하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서 계통전류의 고조파 기준은 만족하면서 독립부하 전압리플, 인덕터 부피, 무효전류량, 시스템 밴드위스를 고려한 LCL필터 설계방법을 제안한다.

  • A new design method for the LCL filters of three-phase voltage source PWM rectifiers is presented in this paper. Based on the single-phase harmonic equivalent model, the harmonic voltage of the rectifier side is calculated to design the LCL filter parameters by an iterative algorithm, in which the resonance frequency $f_{res}$ and the ratio r between the grid-side inductance and the rectifier-side inductance are selected as known constants. The design criteria and process are introduced and the influence on the design result by the value of the resonance frequency $f_{res}$, ratio r is analyzed. Finally an example (600V, 500kW) is tested by simulation and experiment to verify the validity of the new design method.

  • 본 논문에서는 필터 임피던스와 공진주파수를 고려한 계통연계형 인버터의 LCL 필터 설계기법을 제안한다. 일반적으로 계통연계 인버터는 고속 스위칭으로 인한 고조파 전류가 출력단에 포함된다. 이러한 고조파를 감소시키기고 출력을 정현파로 만들기 위해 출력단에 수동필터가 사용된다. 제안하는 필터 설계 기법은 필터 인덕턴스를 최소화 할 수 있다. 따라서 수동필터의 부피를 감소시키고 DC링크 전압 이용률 손실을 최소로 할 수 있다. 제안하는 방법으로 LCL 필터를 설계하고 실험을 통해 설계 방법의 타당성을 검증하였다.

Uncertainty Modeling and Robust Control for LCL Resonant Inductive Power Transfer System

  • The LCL resonant inductive power transfer (IPT) system is increasingly used because of its harmonic filtering capabilities, high efficiency at light load, and unity power factor feature. However, the modeling and controller design of this system become extremely difficult because of parameter uncertainty, high-order property, and switching nonlinear property. This paper proposes a frequency and load uncertainty modeling method for the LCL resonant IPT system. By using the linear fractional transformation method, we detach the uncertain part from the system model. A robust control structure with weighting functions is introduced, and a control method using structured singular values is used to enhance the system performance of perturbation rejection and reference tracking. Analysis of the controller performance is provided. The simulation and experimental results verify the robust control method and analysis results. The control method not only guarantees system stability but also improves performance under perturbation.

  • An LCL-type Isolated dc-dc converter operating for constant output voltage is analyzed, including the effect of a high frequency transformer using ac complex circuit approximation. Its solution is derived and is used to obtain the characteristics of the proposed converter. The analyses show through converter modeling, phasor diagram and gain comparison that inclusion of a high frequency transformer results in introduction of magnetizing inductance and leakage inductances at conventional LCL dc-dc converter with ideal transformer. The theoretical and simulation results are presented in case of the wide variations in input voltage and load current in detail. Analysis and simulation results observed that introduction of a transformer in the dc-dc converter had considerable effect on the performance, especially in the case of low output voltage and large load.

  • In this paper, a design method of LCL filter at the AC input side of a voltage source PWM converter is proposed. Effective method to prevent pollution of the utility caused by high frequency current ripple is to use a LCL filter instead of the L filter The C elements in the filter provide a low impedance path for the high frequency component, preventing them from entering the utility. A resistor in series with a capacitor is used for damping the resonance in the filter. The design examples are shown and the validity of the proposed design method is verified through the PSIM simulation.

  • A capacitor deterioration of LCL-filter grid-connected PWM converters is progressed by the self-healing mechanism. It leads to the degradation of the filter performance and drop of power factor. Thus, it is required to diagnose fault-point of capacitors and determine the replacement time. Typically, the fault of capacitors is determined when the capacitance is reduced up to 80% from initial value. This paper proposes algorithm to the determine capacitor replacement time of an LCL filter. The algorithm takes the advantage of change of the response on the injected resonant frequency corresponding to 80% value from the initial capacitance. The results of the algorithm are demonstrated through simulations and experiments.

  • 본 논문에서는 LCL 필터를 가지는 계통연계형 태양광 인버터의 필터에 의한 공진을 억제하는 기법을 제시하였다. 기존의 L 필터보다 LCL 필터가 높은 고조파 저감 효과를 가지지만 LC 필터가 추가됨으로써 발생하는 공진으로 인해 시스템은 불안정해진다. 공진을 억제하기 위해 댐핑 기법이 함께 사용된다. 능동 댐핑은 수동 댐핑에 비해 실제 저항이 추가되지 않음으로써 회로의 손실을 저감하는 장점이 있다. 적절한 설계 기법을 통해 공진을 억제하고 시스템의 안정성을 높였으며 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 방식의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • 최근 대규모 해상풍력단지 조성을 위한 프로젝트 등이 진행되고 있다. 매우 튼 전력을 생산하는 풍력발전기를 계통에 연계시키기 위해서는 du/dt 필터, LCL 필터 등의 요소가 반드시 필요하다. 이러한 필터 설계를 위해서는 선제작한 후 실제 실험을 통해 그적합성을 시험 받는 수밖에 없다. 작은 규모는 상관없지만 이렇게 큰 용량의 필터를 설계하기 위해서는 적지 않은 노력과 비용이 필요하다. 따라서 이러한 설계를 위해서는 많은 시뮬레이션 수단이 강구될 수 있는바 본 논문은 FEM 프로그램을 이용하여 LCL 필터용의 3상 리액터를 설계하고 그 효과를 검증하고자 한다.
