  • In Projection Stereolithography Apparatus (PSLA), Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) are used as a beam pattern generator. The DMD shows high resolution, but it is mostly applied in micro stereolithography due to high cost and fabricable area. In LCD, the size of pattern beam is freely controlled due to various panel sizes. The LCD, however, has some limitations such as short life time by the high power light source, non-uniform light intensity of pattern beam and low transmittance of UV-light. To solve these problems in LCD-based PSLA, a Scanbeam-SLA with LCD of 19 inches and visible LED-array is developed. In this system, the light module works like a scanner for uniform illumination. The system configuration, working principle and fabrication examples are addressed in this study.

  • A light guide panel is an element of the LCD backlight module that is often used for the display of compact electronic devices. In this study, a laser marking system is proposed to fabricate light guide panel, which can be replaced of other manufacturing methods such as silk printing, stamping, and v-cutting methods. The objectives of this research are the establishment of laser marking system, evaluation of laser marking parameters, understanding marking process, application to PMMA, reliability test and quality inspection. A 50W $CO_2$ laser (CW) was used to perform different experiments in which, the influence of some processing parameters (average power, scanning speed) on the geometry and quality of groove pattern was studied. The width of the etched grooves increases with increasing a laser power and decreasing a scan speed. In order to analyze surface characteristics and optical properties (luminance, uniformity), SEM photography and BM7 (luminance measuring system) were used. As a result, the optimal conditions of the process parameters were determined.

  • Optical conditions of a reflective multicolor STM-LCD based on the electrical control of birefrignece are analyzed on the CIE chromaticity diagram. The luminance and the area of the locus on the cIE chromaticity diagram are the two factors to be considered in the design of an LC cell to display white, red, green, and blue. The characteristics of a test cell agrees well with numerical simulation. A completed 320$\times$240 module is addressed by a designed PWM driving circuit.

  • To develop glass panel vacuum lift system for the post process in module line of FPD(Flat panel display) such as LCD and PDP, new vacuum adsorption parts of this system are proposed. These parts are composed of variable geometry configurations utilizing ceramic porous medium for variable size of glass panels. In order to design this device, detail understanding of flow phenomena in the flow path of vacuum adsorption system is essential. Thus, CFD analysis and designs are performed for several configurations in terms of pressure drop and balancing force at the adsorption side. From the result, new configuration is recommended for optimum design and manufacturing purpose.

  • The design of press bonding tool in LCD module equipment is a very complex and difficult task because many design able variables are involved while their effects are not known. It takes longtime experiments and much expenses to verify the effects of these design variables. However the optimization of bonding tool using OLB(outer lead bonding) and PCB Bonding is a very important problem in LCD manufacturing process, so much design efforts have been made for improving the bonding tool performance. In this paper, a reasonable and fast process which gives optimized solution under the design requirements has been presented. Both analytical and statistical methods are employed in this process. A reliable analytic model using experiment-oriented FE analysis can be obtained, in which the regression equations that predict the tool efficiency from various DOE method are found. Improvement of tool efficiency could be estimated by the regression equations using meaningful factors converged by RSM(Response Surface Method). With this process a reasonable optimized solution that meets a variety of design requirements can be easily obtained.

  • In this study, computational rotor dynamic analyses of a composite roller used for large LCD panel manufacturing process have been conducted. The present computational method is based on the general finite element method with rotating gyroscopic effects of rotor systems. General purpose commercial finite element code, SAMCEF which has special rotordynamics analysis module is applied. For the purpose of numerical verification, comparison study for a benchmark dual rotor model with support bearings is also presented. Detailed finite element models for composite roller with optimized lamination angles are constructed and analyzed considering gravity effect in order to investigate vibration characteristics in actual operation environment. As results of the present study, rotor stability diagrams and mass unbalance responses are presented for different rotating conditions.

  • In this paper, the new efficient drive control technology based on the conventional full-color electric display board image processing method is proposed. This technology can be applied to high-fidelity large size panel TV and LCD Display, and makes high-fidelity-display-drive control possible in those. The proposed drive control technology can strengthen the image processing function of the conventional technology. Also, the automatic or manual adjustment of contrast, bright, tint, color, gamma revision, etc. can help to achieve high-fidelity vision. This technology can be adopted with lower price.

  • Current sharing between modules in a converter parallel operation is very important for the reliability of the system. This paper proposes an improved droop method that can effectively improve current sharing accuracy. The proposed method adaptively adjusts the output voltage set-point of each module according to the current set-points. Unlike conventional droop control, modules share a signal line to communicate with each other. Nevertheless, since signals are simple and in digital form, the complexity of the circuitry is much less and noise immunity is much better than those of conventional methods utilizing communication. The operation principle and design procedure of the proposed method are described in detail. Results of the experiment on two boost converters operating in parallel under the specification of a TFT LCD TV panel power supply verify the validity of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper we propose the boot system using CF memory card and study the system implementation method. The system that is proposed in this paper basically consist of high performance microprocessor, small amount of program memory and CF memory card. And added LCD module and touch panel for the user interface. This system use the CF memory card and DRAM instead of the Flash memory, so it can reduce the system cost. And system performance is increased because of the system program running in the DRAM.

  • In case of an embedded system with computing resource restrictions such as system power and cpu, the overhead due to displaying data on the computer screen may have a significant influence on the system performance. This paper describes an initialization method for LCD-driving components such as an ARM Core, an LCD controller, and an SPI(serial peripheral interface). It also introduces a pixel display function and a panel display method using virtual screen for reducing the display overhead for an LN2440SBC system with an ARM9-based S3C2440A microprocessor. A virtual screen is a large space of computer memories allocated much larger than those needed for one-time display of an image. Displaying a specific region of a virtual screen is done by assigning it as a view-port region. Such a display is useful in an embedded system when concurrently running tasks produce and display their respective results on the screen; it is especially so when the execution result of each task is partially modified, instead of being totally modified, on its turn and displayed. If the tasks running on such a system divide and make efficient use of the region of the virtual screen, the display overhead can be minimized. For the performance comparison with and without using the virtual screen, two different images are displayed in turn and the amount of time consumed for their display is measured. The result shows that the display time of the former is about 5 times faster than that of the latter.
