  • This paper shows the procedure to determine the physical variables of the simple synthetic testing facility using LC resonance circuit and presents the calculated results of those variables for the LC resonance circuit which can be used to test circuit breakers up to 36kV 40kA class. Attention has also been paid to the advantages of the LC resonance circuit compared with the method adopting short-circuit generator for the development of circuit breakers.

  • The electric ballast for ceramic metal halide lamp needs a protection circuit to prevent from over voltage and over current in the case that the lamp or the electric ballast are in faults. In this paper, cost-effective and high performance protection circuit is proposed for the electric ballast. The proposed protection circuit is adapted to the electric ballast with $LC_SC_P$ resonance type half bridge inverter. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed circuit can protect effectively under open and short fault conditions.

  • This paper proposes the circuit of the simple synthetic testing facility using LC resonance circuit. EMTP has been used to analyze the circuit. The obtained results indicate that the simple synthetic testing facility using LC resonance circuit can be easily designed and used very usefully for the research and development for the switchgears.

  • This paper presents an implantable telemetry LC resonance-type pressure sensor to measure the cerebral ventricle pressure. The sensor consists of an inductor and a capacitor. The LC resonant circuit consists of the sensor and an external antenna coil that are coupled magnetically. The resonance frequency of the circuit decreases as the applied pressure increases the capacitance of the sensor. The sensor is designed in consideration of the biocompatibility and long lifetime for continuous monitoring of the ventricle pressure. The sensor is simple to fabricate and small in comparison with others reported previously. The inductor is fabricated by electroplating and the variable capacitor is constructed with a flexible p+ diaphragm. Also, the deflection of the diaphragm, the variation of the capacitance and the resonance frequency are analyzed and calculated.

  • This paper presents an implantable telemetry LC resonance-type pressure sensor for the measurement of the ventricle pressure. This sensor consists of a capacitor and an inductor. This resonant circuit is magnetically coupled with an external antenna coil. The resonance frequency of the circuit decreases as the sensor capacitance is increased by the applied pressure. The inductance and the capacitance are 428nH and 0.98${\mu}F$, respectively. The resonance frequency is 245.7MHz when the differential pressure is zero. The sensitivity of the sensor is 9.477kHz/Pa.

  • This paper proposes the circuit of the simple synthetic testing facility using LC resonance circuit. The analyzed results of the circuit which can be useful for the design stage of the testing facility are also shown. EMTP has been used to analyze the circuit. Two cases of short-circuit test results obtained from the simple synthetic testing facility in KERI are shown with the waveforms of current and voltage. The results also indicate that the simple synthetic testing facility using LC resonance circuit can be easily designed and used very usefully for the research and development for the switchgears.

  • Generally, stray capacitance is unnecessary element of designing circuit, because it can not be predicted by a designer. But we propose LC Resonant Circuit using stray capacitance of transformer. This method proposes miniaturization of circuit, because LC Resonant Circuit can be make simply to using stray capacitance instead of capacitor and size of transformer is reduced. Finally, we research aspect of dielectric heating by change of frequency and output voltage using developed converter.

Operating characteristics of a superconducting DC circuit breaker connected to a reactor using PSCAD/EMTDC simulation

  • The DC system has less power loss compared to the AC system because there is no influence of frequency and dielectric loss. However, the zero-crossing point of the current is not detected in the event of a short circuit fault, and it is difficult to interruption due to the large fault current that occurs during the opening, so the reliability of the DC breaker is required. As a solution to this, an LC resonance DC circuit breaker combined a superconducting element has been proposed. This is a method of limiting the fault current, which rises rapidly in case of a short circuit fault, with the quench resistance of the superconducting element, and interruption the fault current passing through the zero-crossing point through LC resonance. The superconducting current limiting element combined to the DC circuit breaker plays an important role in reducing the electrical burden of the circuit breaker. However, at the beginning of a short circuit fault, superconducting devices also have a large electrical burden due to large fault currents, which can destroy the element. In this paper, the reactor is connected to the source side of the circuit using PSCAD/EMTDC. After that, the change of the fault current according to the reactor capacity and the electrical burden of the superconducting element were confirmed through simulation. As a result, it was confirmed that the interruption time was delayed as the capacity of the reactor connected to the source side increased, but peak of the fault current decreased, the zero-crossing point generation time was shortened, and the electrical burden of the superconducting element decreased.

  • 본 논문에서는 일반적으로 사용되어지는 배전압 단상 정류회로에 LC 공진회로를 첨가하여, 고조파의 성분을 저감시키는 고역률 단상 정류회로를 제안하였다. 제안한 회로는 다이오드 브리지에 병렬로 커패시터를 접속하고, 입력에 인덕터L을 추가하여 접속시키므로써 상용주파수에서 LC 공진현상을 이용하여, 수동소자만으로 입력전류를 정현파화한다. 그리고 고조파 제어 규제값의 여유도 만족시킨다. 이 모든 사항에 대해 실험과 시뮬레이션 결과를 비교, 분석을 통하여 그 타당성을 확인하였다.

초전도 전류제한소자를 적용한 DC 차단기의 동작 특성 분석 (Analysis of Operation Characteristics of DC Circuit Breaker with Superconducting Current Limiting Element)

  • DC에는 전류 영점이 없기 때문에 DC 차단기의 차단 동작시 아크가 발생한다. 이때 발생하는 아크의 크기에 따라 회로 차단기의 열화 또는 그리드에 치명적인 사고를 발생시킬 수 있다. 따라서 HVDC의 상용화에 있어서 DC차단기의 차단 성능의 안정성 확보는 대단히 중요한 부분이다. 본 연구에서는 DC 차단기의 성능과 신뢰성을 향상시키기 위해 초전도체가 적용된 LC 차단기를 제안하였다. 초전도 LC 차단기는 기존 LC 차단기의 인덕터에 초전도 코일을 적용한 구조로 되어있다. 초기 고장 전류를 제한하는 것 외에도 고장 발생시 안정적인 전류 0점을 생성한다. 이를 확인하기 위해 EMTDC / PSCAD 프로그램을 통해 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 또한 초전도 LC 차단기는 일반 코일이 적용된 LC 차단기와의 동작 특성을 비교하였다. 그 결과 초전도 코일이있는 LC 회로 차단기는 일반 코일이있는 LC 회로 차단기에 비해 초기 고장 전류를 약 12kA 더 제한하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해서 DC 차단기의 아크 소화 시간을 약 0.16 초 단축시킬 수 있었고, 이를 통해 회로 차단기의 전기적 부담이 줄어드는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
