  • This paper proposes a soft-transition control strategy for a three phase ZCS(Zero Current Switching) inverter circuit. Each phase leg of inverter circuit consists of an LC resonant tank, two main switches, and one auxiliary switches. This paper presents design consideration via a study example of a three phase prototype inverter for motor drives. A simple device tester with zero current switching capability is proposed to select eligible auxiliary switches. The principle of operation, feature and design considerations are illustrated and verified through the experiment with a 2.2kW 5kHz IGBT based experimental circuit.

  • In this paper, a 10Gbps clock and data recovery circuit is designed in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The circuit incorporates a multiphase LC oscillator, a quarter-rate Bang-Bang phase detector, a charge pump and a second order loop filter. The simulation results show that the designed circuit has a peak-to-peak clock jitter of 4.2ps and a peak-to-peak recovered data jitter of 8ps while consuming about 80mW from a 1.8V supply.

  • In this paper, a 10Gbps Clock and Data Recovery circuit is designed in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS Technology. The circuit incorporates a multiphase LC oscillator, a quarter-rate Bang-Bang phase detector, a Charge Pump and a second order loop filter. The simulation results show that the designed circuit has a peak-to-peak clock jitter of 4.1ps and a peak-to-peak recovered data jitter of 8ps while consuming about 44mW from a 1.8V supply.

분진운의 최소점화에너지에 대한 정전기 방전회로의 매개변수 영향 (Influence of Electrostatic Discharge Circuit Parameters on the Minimum Ignition Energy of Suspended Dust Clouds)

  • The ignitability(minimum ignition energy, MIE) of a suspended dust clouds is very important aspect of technical safety indices. This paper reported the experimental results dealing with the influence of discharge circuit on the MIE of a suspended dust clouds. The movement of a suspended dust clouds was also observed with the high speed camera. The Hartmann vertical-tube apparatus(MIKE-3) described in the international standard of IEC and Polypropylene (PP, 50% volume-average, D50: $761{\mu}m$) resin powders were used in this experiment. The following results were obtained: (1) the MIE of a suspended PP powder depended markedly on the discharge circuit; in other words, when a resistor was connected in series with the discharge sparking circuit(RC), the lowest value(31mJ) of MIE was obtained for a suspended PP powder comparison with the other circuits(C circuit; 370mJ or LC circuit; 71mJ). (2) the discharge duration time is more important than other factors with regard to MIE of a suspended PP powder.

인체감지 센서용 저 잡음 10GHz대역 송수신기 설계 (A low-noise transceiver design for 10GHz band motion sensor)

  • 본 논문에서는 X-band 대역용 인체감지센서에 적용될 저 잡음 송수신기 설계 방법을 제안 하였다. 제안된 송수신기에는 기존 송수신기의 출력 신호가 수신 단으로 유입되는 것을 줄이기 위한 회로가 추가되었다. 잡음 제거회로는 분배기와 $90^{\circ}$위상 천이기를 포함하는 Hittite HMC908LC5(I/Q down converter)가 사용되었다. 송수신기 회로와 안테나는 CST MWS를 사용하여 시뮬레이션 하였고 FR-4 기판(h=1.0mm, ${\varepsilon}_r$=4.4)을 사용하여 제작하였다. 설계된 안테나의 특성이 인체감지용 센서에 사용되기에 적합하며 제안된 송수신기와 기존에 사용되고 있는 송수신기의 출력 특성을 비교 한 결과 동등한 특성을 얻었다.

  • Two sinusoidal voltage-controlled oscillators using linear operational transconductance amplifiers are presented in this paper: One is based on the positive-feedback bandpass oscillator model and the other on the negative-feedback Colpitts model. The bandpass VCO consists of a noninverting amplifier and a current-controlled LC-tuned circuit which is realized by two linear OTA's and two grounded capacitors, while the Colpitts VCO consists of an inverting amplifier and a current-controlled LC-tuned circuit realized by three linear OTA's and three grounded capacitors. Prototype circuits have been built with discrete components. The experimental results have shown that the Colpitts VCO has a linearity error of less than 5 percent, a temperature coefficient of less than rm 100 ppm/$^{circ}C$, and a $pm1.5 Hz $frequency drift over an oscillation frequency range from 712Hz to 6.3kHz. A total harmonic distortion of 0.3 percent has been measured for a 3.3kHz oscillation and the corresponding peak-to-peak amplitude was 1V. The experimental results for bandpass VCO are also presented.

A Millimeter-Wave LC Cross-Coupled VCO for 60 GHz WP AN Application in a 0.13-μm Si RF CMOS Technology

  • Recently, the demand on mm-wave (millimeter-wave) applications has increased dramatically. While circuits operating in the mm-wave frequency band have been traditionally implemented in III-V or SiGe technologies, recent advances in Si MOSFET operation speed enabled mm-wave circuits realized in a Si CMOS technology. In this work, a 58 GHz CMOS LC cross-coupled VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) was fabricated in a $0.13-{\mu}m$ Si RF CMOS technology. In the course of the circuit design, active device models were modified for improved accuracy in the mm-wave range and EM (electromagnetic) simulation was heavily employed for passive device performance predicttion and interconnection parasitic extraction. The measured operating frequency ranged from 56.5 to 58.5 GHz with a tuning voltage swept from 0 to 2.3 V. The minimum phase noise of -96 dBc/Hz at 5 MHz offset was achieved. The output power varied around -20 dBm over the measured tuning range. The circuit drew current (including buffer current) of 10 mA from 1.5 V supply voltage. The FOM (Figure-Of-Merit) was estimated to be -165.5 dBc/Hz.

1.6GHz PCS 단말기용 초소형 VCO에 대한 연구 (A Study on Miniature VCO for 1.6GHz PCS Phone)

  • 본 논문에서는 1.6GHz PCS 대역 초소형 전압제어발진기의 설계개발하였다. 다층 PCB 구조를 갖는 Colpitts 형의 LC 동조형 발진기를 설계하교 회로 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 회로특성을 최적화하였다. 최적화된 설계 데이터를 이용하여 6$\times$6$\times$1.8 ㎣(0.065cc) 크기의 소형 VCO를 제작한 후 시험하였다. 개발된 VCO는 52.3MHz 튜닝범위에서 -1.67dBm $\pm$0.5dBm 의 일정한 출력레벨을 갖었으며 10kHz offset 주파수에서 -99.33dBc/Hz 의 우수한 위상잡음 특성을 나타내었다.

  • 본 논문은 이동통신기기의 핵심부품중 하나인 VCO를 IC로 설계한 내용을 기술하였다. 설계한 VCO는 배리캡을 사용한 LC 동조형발진기로 구현하였다. 사용한 발진소자중 인덕터는 실리콘 IC 구현상의 난점[8]으로 인해 외부로 구성하고 나머지부분을 모두 IC화 하였다. 제작하는데 사용된 마스크 수는 15개이며 칩 사이즈는 1150um${\times}$780um이다. 제작한 VCO IC를 테스트한 결과 전원전압 5V에서 제어전압을 1V에서 3V로 변화시킬때 880MHz 영역에서 동작하였으며 주파수 천이는 425KHz/V, 주파수 편이는 1.97MHz/T, 캐리어 레벨은 -7dBm, 전류소모는 16.7mA이었다. 또한, 위상 잡음은 50KHz 오프셋에서 -80dBc/Hz 이며 중심주파수에 대한 하모닉응답은 -41dBm 이다. 향후 송수신단을 단일 칩화하기 위해서는 외부회로도 실리콘 기판위에 구현할 수 있는 실리콘 MMIC[1][8]에 대한 연구가 수행되어야 할 것이다.
