압전수정결정판 위에 적층된 금속-Palmitate Langmuir-Blodgett 막의 팽창거동 및 수화수 (Swelling Behavior and Hydration Number of Langmuir-Blodgett Films of Metal-Palmitate Deposited on a Piezoelectric Quartz Crystal Plate)

  • Calcium-palmitate의 단분자막을 압전수정결정 위에 Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) 기법으로 적층시켜 수정판의 진동수 변화로부터 LB막의 적층수를 평가할 수 있었다. 바탕용액에 Ca$^{2+}C$ 이온을 포함하는 palmitic acid(PA) 단분자막으로부터 이전 및 적층된 LB막 물질을 적외선 분광분석을 한 결과 1704 cm$^{-1}C$에서 갈라진 흡수띠가 나타나는 것으로 보아 calcium palmitate가 형성되었음을 알 수 있었다. 1580cm$^{-1}C$과 1540cm$^{-1}C$의 두 흡수띠는 각각 calcium carboxylate기의 비대칭 신축진동과 carboxylate가 수화되어 대칭강하된 것으로 확인되었다$^1$. 이사실은 X-선 회절분석에 의해서도 확인되었다. 23$^{\circ}C$ 물 속에서 LB막의 팽윤거동을 LB막이 적층된 수정진동판의 진동수 변화로부터 관측되었다. Calcium palitate LB막은 충분히 팽윤이 되었으나 hexadecanol LB막은 거의 팽윤이 되지 않았다. Calcium palmitate LB막 팽창량은 무게비로 건조 LB막의 47${\%}$였으며 calcium palmitate 단위 분자당 7개의 물분자가 결합되었다. Calcium palmitate 건조 LB막의 화학적 구조는 [CH$_3$(CH$_2$)$_{14}$COO]$_2$Ca${\cdot}$XH$_2$O이고 수화수는 1 H$_2$O였다.

  • The electrical characteristics of Stearic acid LB films were investigated to develop the gas sensor using Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films. The deposition status of LB films were verified by the measurements of UV absorbance and I-V characteristics. The conductivity of Stearic acid LB films at room temperature was $10^{-8}[S/cm]$, which is typical of semiconductor. The conductivity was found to increase as the temperature was increased. The acitivation energy was about 1[eV].

  • Stability improvement of fragile LB films was attempted by polyion complexation of monolayers at the air-water interface and crosslinking of the resulting LB films. The spreading polymers were synthesized by radical copolymerization of monoalkyl itaconate with oligoethyleneglycol methyl vinylether, and poly(allylamine) was employed as the subphase polymer. Formation and characteristic of the monolayers were comfirmed by surface pressure-area($\pi$-A) isotherms. The two different polymers formed polyion-complexed monolayer through the formation of carboxylate/ammonium salt at the air-water interface. Y-type deposition occurred on solid substrates, and the transfer ratio was over 0.7. Pores (diameter, 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$) of a membrane filter could be covered by polyion-complexed 6 layers. Interactions of the polymers with metal ions were investigated of the air-water interface and in the LB films. The structure change and macroscope morphology of the LB films were confirmed by FT-lR and SEM, respective1y.

Stearic Acid LB막의 수평방향에 대한 전기적 특성 연구 (A Study on Electrical Characteristics for Horizontal Direction of Stearic Acid LB Films)

  • The electrical characteristics of stearic acid LB films far the horizontal direction were investigated to develop the gab sensor using LB films. $\pi$ -A isotherm was measured to transfer stearic acid on slide glass substrate and surface pressure for optimal deposition was 25[dyne/cm]. The deposition status of stearic acid LB films was verified by the measurement of capacitance which was increased with the number of layers. The thickness of electrode was estimated about 1000 by the I-V characteristics far the horizontal direction. The Conductivity of stearic acid LB films for horizontal direction was 10$^{-8}$ [S/cm] that mean like semiconductor.

  • The response properties of quartz crystal coated with stearic acid LB films to organic gases were investigated by measuring the shift of resonant frequency. Stearic acid was used as a sensing material and deposited on the surface of quartz crystal using the Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) method. The effect of temperature on the quartz crystal coated with stearic acid LB films was also investigated by Scanning Maxwell-stress Microscopy(SMM). As a result, the sensitivity of the quartz crystal coated with LB films to organic gases is dependent on temperature, thickness of LB film and molecular weight of organic gas.

  • In conducting systems based on LB films, TCNQ derivatives have been extensively studied as electron acceptor molecules. We have investigated the optical, electrical, and magnetic properties of Viologen-(TCNQ ̄)$_2$LB films. In UV/visible absorption measurements, we have observed TCNQ ̄ peak at 380 nm and dimer peak at 620 nm. The electron spin resonance measurements infer that Viologen-(TCNQ ̄)$_2$LB film exhibits anisotropic properly. In other words, the LB film shows angular dependence. Iodine doping affects the degree of charge transfer and the conductivity of the films. The UV/visible absorption spectra of the LB film doped with I$_2$show peaks at near 400~430 nm and there is no dimer absorption peak. The in-plane electrical conductivity of the undoped film is approximately 4.2$\times$10$^{-6}$ S/cm.

  • The use of preformed polymers and their cross-linking have been a attempted in order to improve the intrinsic fraqility of monolayers and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB)films and to make their technological applications possible. It has shown that an imidization followed a polyion-complexation can stabilize the LB films against heat and solvents. And when the polymer structure was properly designed concurrent removal of the alkyl tails together with imide formation could be accomplished. In this paper we present a characteristic monolayer behavior of polymer with pendent polythers and carboxyls it’s polyion-complexed LB film with subphase polymer PAA and a possible skeletonization of the LB film by thermal imidization. Also deposition status of LB films are evaluated by using QCM

  • Behavior of electron in polyimide LB films of Al/polyimide LB films/Au (MIM) structures is reported in the present paper. From experimental results, it is known that there is a process where electron moves from Au electrode to Al electrode through LB film. And the electrons are presumed to move by diffusion since the direction is opposite to electric field.

  • Merocyanine dye (MD) has been extensively investigated due to its marked potential application to photo-electric devices. We fabricated the number of layers to control its optical characteristics using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method. We evaluated the morphology and optical characteristics of MD LB films using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and UV spectroscopy, PL spectroscopy. As a result, we obtained the quantitative morphology and optical characteristics of LB films from controlling the deposided layers.

  • We studied electrochemical characteristics of Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system. An Ag/AgCl as a reference electrode, a platinum wire as a counter electrode and LB film-coated indium tin oxide(ITO) as a working electrode were used to study electrochemical characteristics at a various concentration of $NaClO_4$ solution. LB films were reduced from initial potential to -1350 mV, continuously oxidized to l650mV and returned to the initial point. The scan rate was l00mV/s. The monolayer surface morphology of the LB film have been measured by Atomic Force Microscope(AFM). As a result, We comfirmed that the microscopic properties of LB film by AFM showed the good orientation of momolayer molecules and the thickness of monolayer was 3.5-4.lnm. The cyclic voltammograms(CV) of the ITO-coated glass showed the peak potentials for the reduction-oxidation reation. LB films of 4-octyl-4'-(5-carboxypentamethyleneoxy) azobenzene(8A5H) / L-${\alpha}$-phosphayidyl choline, dilauroyl(DLPC) seemed to be irreversible process caused by only the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram. The current of oxidatation increased at cyclic voltammogram by increasing 8A5H density in LB films. The diffusivity(D) of LB films increased with increasing of a 8A5H amount and was inversely proportional to the concentration of $NaClO_4$ solution.
