Photoinduced Electron Transfer in Molecular Photodiode Consisted of Flavin-Viologen Hetero-LB Films (Flavin-Viologen 복합 LB막으로 구성된 분자광다이오드에서의 광유도 전자전달)

  • A molecular photodiode was fabricated with hetero-Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film consisting of an electron accepter(A) and sensitizer. N-Allyl-N-[3-propylamido-N\",N\"-야(n-octadecyl)]-4,4-bipyridum Dibromide and 7,8-dimethyl-10-dodecyl isoalloxan-zine were used as A and S units, respectively. By aligning hefter-LB film of A/S units on ITO glass with an aluminium thin film, a molecular photodiode with the structure of Metal/Insulator/Metal(MIM) was constructed. Due to excitation by irradiation with a 460nm monochromatic light source, the photo-induced unidirectional flow of electrons in the MIM device could be achieved and was detected as photocurrents. The direction of energy flow was in accordance with the energy level profile across the LB films. The photo switching function was achieved and the rectifying characteristics was obserbed in the molecular devise.

  • Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method have been used by many rescarcher because of its facility to control the thickness of film as molecular order and orientation of molecular. We fabricated MIM device using copolymer LB films of $2C_{18}MA-VE_2$ and elecctrical conduction mechanism in ultra-thin LB film were investigated. In our experimental results, the maleate copolymer LB film have the properity of insulator like organic ultra-thin fiim. Its diclcctric constant was about 3.5 and its voltage generation about 0.1 Volt. And Schottky current was apeared as electrical conduction current and Schottky barrier was about 0.9(eV).

  • In conducting systems based on Langmuir - Blodgett (LB) films, tetracyanoquinodimethane(TCNQ) derivatives have been extensively studied as electron acceptor molecules. We have fabricated N-docosyl N'-methyl viologen diTCNQ (DMVT) anion radical LB film and investigated the FT-IR, ESR, and AFM images as the optical, magnetic properties and morphology of the LB film. We have measured in-plane electrical conductivity with number of layers. The in-plane conductivities are approximately $10^{-7}{\sim}10^{-6}\;S/cm$.

  • We fabricated the sample of ultra thin lipid membrane(L-$\alpha$-DLPC) by LB method. The $\pi$-A isotherm of the DLPC was measured at the air-water interface varying with the compressing speed and amounts of solutions for spreading. For the good property of lipid monolayer film, it was necessary to prepare at the lower speed of compressing, with an appropriate volume of solutions for spreading. Absorption, transmitance and intensity with the UV spectrophotometer were measured. The Z-type multilayers showed good characteristics better than Y-type. So we found building-up of structurally high quality LB films is essential to study properties of the films and to get reproducible data.

  • In this research, We fabricated Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) ultra-thin films with (N-docosyl quinolinium)- TCNQ(1:2) complex. The characteristics ${\pi}$-A isotherms were studied to find optimum conditions of deposition by varing temperature of subphase, compression speed of barrier and amount of spreading solution. Film formation was verified by measuring transfer ratio, maximum absorption of UV-vis spectra, capacitance and ellipsometry. From the results, it was concluded that the LB film formed well with molecular oder was fabricated.

  • We investigated the electrochemical properties for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of functionalized polyimide. LB films of polyimide monolayer were deposited by the Langmuir-Blodgett method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured by cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) at various concentrations(0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 N) of $NaClO_4$ solution. The current of reduction and oxidation range was measured from 1650 mV to -1350 mV, continuously. The scan rates were 50, 100 and 150 mV/s, respectively. As a result, monolayer and multilayer LB films of polyimide are appeared on irreversible process caused by the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram.

  • Abstract We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 10[mN/m]. In processing of a device manufacture, we can see the process is good from the change of a surface pressure for organic thin films and transfer ratio of area per molecule. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Poly-${\gamma}$ Benzyl $_D$-Glutamate/Al; the number of accumulated layers is 1, 3, 5 and 7. Also, we then examined of the MIM device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristic of the device is measured from 0 to +2[V]. We determined electrochemical measurement by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system. LB film accumulated by monolayer on an ITO. In the cyclicvoltammetry, An Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode measured in $LiBF_4$ solution, stable up to 0.9V vs. Ag/AgCl.

A Study on the Deposition Condition and Molecular Orientation of the Ultrathin Organic Films using the Langmuir-Blodgett Technique (Langmuir-Blodgett 법을 이용한 유기초박막의 제작조건 및 분자배향에 관한 연구)

  • Optimum conditions for the deposition of N-docosylquinolium-TCNQ ultrathin organic films using the Langmuir-Blodgett etchnique and the molecular orientation and alignment of the LB films were studied. The $\pi$-A isotherm of the N-docosylquinolium-TCNQ was measured at the air-water interface varying with the subphase temperature, subphase pH, compressing speed and amounts of solutions for spreading. The LB film was deposited under the surface pressure of 30mN.m and 45mN/m and other deposition conditions. The molecular orientation and alignment of the LB films were studied by the polarization absorption technique. The $\pi$-A isotherm showed that the stable N-docosylquinolium -TCNQ monolayer was formed on the water surface at the condition of 25$^{\circ}C$,pH 5.6, molecular density of 2.1${\times}$10S014T~2.6${\times}$10S014T/cmS02T. The LB film was deposited under the surface pressure of 45mN/m had better packing density, orientation and alignment than the film of 30mN/m.

  • We investigated the electrochemical properties for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films mixed with fatty acid (8A5H) and phospholipid (DLPE, DMPC, and DPPA). LB films of 8A5H monolayer and 8A5H-phospholipid mixture were deposited using the Langmuir-Blodgett method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured using cyclic voltammetry with three-electrode system, an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode at various concentrations(0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mol/L) of $NaClO_4$ solution. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential to -1350 mV, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV and measured to the initial point. The scan rate was 50, 100, 150 and 200 mV/s, respectively. As a result, LB films of fatty acid and phospholipid (8A5H/DLPE and DPPA) appeared irreversible process were caused by only the reduction current from the cyclic voltammogram and LB film of 8A5H-DMPC mixture was found to be caused by a reversible oxidation-reduction process.
