Inhibitors of Adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 Cells Isolated from Wheat Bran (밀겨 유래의 3T3-L1 세포 지방생성 억제물질)

  • As a part of our ongoing program on finding biologically active components from natural source we found three known constituents from the EtOH extract of the wheat bran. The known compounds were identified as tachioside (1), pinellic acid (2) and tryptophan (3). The structure and relative stereochemistry were determined from MS, 1D and extensive 2D NMR techniques as well as by comparison of their data with the published values. All isolates were tested their inhibitory effects on the adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 cells. The effect of compounds from wheat bran on 3T3-L1 adipocyte differentiation were measured by Oil Red O staining. These results demonstrate that tachioside (1) and pinellic acid (2) decreased lipid content in 3T3-L1 adipocytes by inhibiting lipogenesis. These compounds had shown antiobesity activities.

The Characteristic of Swelling Index Evaluated by CRS Consolidation Test (일정변형속도(CRS) 압밀시험에 의한 팽창지수 산정 특성)

  • The swelling index of clayey soil was examined by constant rate of strain(CRS) consolidation test. Four kinds of strain rate were applied during unloading. The strain rates are l/l, l/5, 1/10, l/l 5 of loading. The strain rates during loading are 0.05%/min and 0.03%/min. From the test results using standard consolidometer, the swelling indexes were much similar values in case of 1/5 or 1/10 of the strain rate during loading stage. In the relation between effective stress and excess pore water pressure ratio, it was found that the existence of cross point and the stress level can be separated into two zones according to the swelling index.

  • Recently, developments of device using characteristics of ceramics as a new technical material is in progress. While doing so, Ultrasonic motor which is a part of research & flat-type $L_1-B_8$ mode Ultrasonic motor and measured the operation characteristics of its. The size of USM is 80*20*1.5[$mm{^1}$](length*width*thickness) and is constructed with stator by piezo-ceramics and stainless elastic body and rotator by bearings. As results of experiments, the fastest speed of revolution($\upsilon$), the maximum torque(T) and the efficiency($\eta$) were 37.5[cm/sec], 5.0[mN$\cdot$M] and 1.17[%] respectively when 27.9[kHz], 150[gf], 50[V] were applied. SO, we think this flat-type $L{_1}-B{_8}$ mode Ultrasonic motor is able to be used for applications in forwarding device of a paper or electric card so on. Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometric Determination of Trace Amounts of Thallium after Solid-Liquid Extraction and Preconcentration with Use of 1,10-Phenanthroline onto Benzophenone

  • Thallium is quantitatively retained by 1,10-phenanthroline and tetraphenylborate onto benzophenone in the pH range 0-11 from a large volumes of aqueous solutions of various samples. After filtration, the solid mass consisting of thallium complex and benzophenone is dissolved with 5 mL of dimethylformamide and the metal was determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometric. About 0.4 ㎍ of thallium can be concentrated from 400 mL of aqueous sample, where its concentration is as low as 1.0 ng/mL. Eight replicate determinations of 8.0 ㎍/mL of thallium in final dimethylformamide solution gave a mean absorbance of 0.160 with a relative standard deviation of 1.7%. The sensitivity for 1% absorption was 0.22 ㎍/mL. The interference of a large number of anions and cations has been studied and the optimized conditions developed were utilized for the trace determination of thallium in various alloys and biological samples.

  • In this paper we begin the study of $L_k$-2-type hypersurfaces of a hypersphere ${\mathbb{S}}^{n+1}{\subset}{\mathbb{R}}^{n+2}$ for $k{\geq}1$ Let ${\psi}:M^3{\rightarrow}{\mathbb{S}}^4$ be an orientable $H_k$-hypersurface, which is not an open portion of a hypersphere. Then $M^3$ is of $L_k$-2-type if and only if $M^3$ is a Clifford tori ${\mathbb{S}}^1(r_1){\times}{\mathbb{S}}^2(r_2)$, $r^2_1+r^2_2=1$, for appropriate radii, or a tube $T^r(V^2)$ of appropriate constant radius r around the Veronese embedding of the real projective plane ${\mathbb{R}}P^2({\sqrt{3}})$.

  • 본 논문은 CAM(Constant Awake Mode), 및 PSM(Power Saving Mode)을 지원하는 IEEE 802.l1b[1] Infrastructure 환경에서 전송 프로토콜이 이동기기의 WNIC(Wireless Network Interface Card) 에너지 소비에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 단위 시간 동안 전송되는 데이터 양에 기반한 IEEE 802.l1b WNIC 에너지 모델을 제안한다. 제안하는 에너지 모델은 IEEE 802.l1b 환경에서 CAM 및 PSM 모드를 사용할때, 실제 측정한 값을 기반으로 설계되었다. 제안된 에너지 모델은 실험을 통하여 정확성을 검증하고, IEEE 802.l1b를 기반으로한 저전력 통신 관련 연구에서 시뮬레이션 시 사용 가능한 에너지 모델임을 밝힌다.

A Novel 3D Polypseudo-rotaxane Metal-organic Framework Based on a Flexible Bis-pyridyl-bis-amide Ligand

  • A novel 3D compound $\{[Cu(L)(H_2O)_4][Cu_2(SIP)_2(L)_2]\}{\cdot}2H_2O$ (1) (L = N,N-bis(4-pyridinecarboxamide)-1,4-butane, SIP = 5-sulfoisophthalate) is hydrothermally synthesized. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that compound 1 is composed of 2D anionic $[Cu_2(SIP)_2(L)_2]_n{^{2n-}}$ double-layers and discrete 1D cationic $[CuL(H_2O)_4]_n{^{2n+}}$ polymeric chains, which represents a rare 3D polypseudo-rotaxane MOF from intercalation of 1D and 2D framework. In addition, the luminescent property and electrochemical behavior of compound 1 have been investigated.

Change of physicochemical properties, phytochemical contents and biological activities during the vinegar fermentation of Elaeagnus multiflora fruit (보리수 열매 식초 발효 중 이화학적 특성, phytochemical 함량 및 생리활성 변화)

  • This study evaluated the changes of physiochemical properties, phytochemical contents, and biological activities during the vinegar fermentation of Elaeagnus multiflora fruit. The contents of pH and reducing sugar decreased from 3.55 and 6.88 mg/mL 3.34 and 2.13 mg/mL, respectively. However the acidity increased from 0.48% to 5.48% during the vinegar fermentation. The alcohol contents increased up to a maximum value of 6.6% at 20 days, and it then decreased at the end fermentation days (2.0%). The viable numbers of acetic acid bacteria and yeasts increased from 4.32 log CFU/mL and 3.23 log CFU/mL at 10 days to 5.4 log CFU/mL and 5.5 log CFU/mL during the spontaneous fermentation, respectively. The major organic acids were acetic acid (38.84 mg/mL), lactic acid (4.92 mg/mL), and malic acid (1.51 mg/mL). The soluble phenolic and flavonoid contents increased from 0.79 mg/mL and 0.12 mg/mL of initial fermentation day to 1.22 mg/mL and 0.14 mg/mL during the spontaneous fermentation. Content of epicatechin gallate decreased from $168.1{\mu}g/mL$ at 10 days to $115.97{\mu}g/mL$. However the content of gallic acid increased from $18.52{\mu}g/mL$ to $95.07{\mu}g/mL$ during fermentation. After 60 days of the fermentation, the antioxidant and digestive enzyme inhibitory activities were 71.35% (DPPH), 79.27% (ABTS), 68.72% (${\cdot}OH$), 85.42% (${\alpha}$-glucosidase), 52.12% (${\alpha}$-amylase), and 53.66% (pancreatic lipase), respectively.

Optimization of industrial medium for the production of erythritol by candida magnoliae

  • Experiments were carried out to investigate the selection of industrial medium and optimization of fermentation process for the production of erythritol by Candida magnoliae SR101. In the batch fermentation, light steep water(LSW) was the best nitrogen source for the industrial production of erythritol. For the optimization of culture condition, the batch culture was performed. When the concentration of LSW was 65 mL/L in the defined medium containing 250 g/L of glucose, 44% of erythritol yield with 110 g/L of erythritol concentration and 0.66 g/L-hr of productivity, respectively were obtained. Two-stage fed-batch culture was performed to improve the volumetric productivity of erythritol. High density cell culture in the growth stage was performed by batch type with 100 g/L glucose and 500 mL/L LSW concentration, respectively. The cell yield was 0.72 g-cell/g-glucose. Productivity of erythritol was increased and concentration of organic acids such as gluconic acid and acetic acid were decreased when initial pH of 6.5 controlled by 28% ammonia water For increasing yield of erythritol, glucose concentration in the production stage was tested. 37% of total erythritol yield with 186 g/L of erythritol concentration and 1.66 g/L-hr of erythritol productivity were obtained when 820 g of glucose powder was directly added for making up 450 g/L of glucose at production stage.

Improvement of Regeneration Efficiency from Mature Embryo and Leaf Base Segment in Korean Oat Genotypes

  • Mature embryo and leaf base segment of Korean oat were used as materials in an experiment to check plant regeneration efficiency. MS media supplemented with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), kinetin, and picloram were used for callus induction from mature embryos and leaf base segments. Three mg/l of 2,4­D and 3 mg/l of picloram in callus induction medium showed high frequency for plant regeneration from mature embryos. Leaf base segments were transferred to callus induction medium and incubated at $25^{\circ}C$ in 16/8 hr light/dark cycle for 3 weeks. Callus induction from leaf base segments of Malgwiri showed high efficiency in medium containing 3 mg/l of 2,4-D and 1 mg/l of kinetin $(91.8\%)$. In case of Samhangwiri, the combinations of phytohormones did not show significant difference. Regeneration from leaf base segments showed high frequency in shoot medium containing 1 mg/l of antiauxin, tri-iodobenzoic acid (TIBA) and 1 mg/l of 6-benzyladenine (BA). Calli induced from leaf base segments of Samhangwiri and Malgwiri in media containing 3 mg/l of 2,4-D and 3 mg/l of picloram showed high regeneration frequency. It appears that the callus initiation medium may be an important factor for subsequent plant regeneration.
