The complex [NiL₃]Cl₂·3H₂O (1) (L=trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane) has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The compound 1 crystallizes in the cubic space group P2₁3, with a=13.830(1) Å, V=2645.9(2) ų, Z=4, R₁(wR₂) for 1500 observed reflections of [I> 2σ(I)] was 0.0766 (0.2068).

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Lespedeza maximowiczii var. tricolor Nakai (LMTN) on glucose metabolism. LMTN extract significantly enhanced the glucose uptake and lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes compared with control. Also, LMTN extract in 3T3-L1 adipocytes significantly increased the protein expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)γ, insulin receptor substrate-1, and glucose transporter (GLUT)4. The regulatory effect on glucose uptake or insulin signal transduction of LMTM extract was lower than troglitazone or pinitol such as the positive control, but increased PPARγ activation. Additionally, LMTM extract has an insulin-mimetic effect. In db/db mice, LMTN extract (250 mg/kg BW) significantly reduced water and food intake, blood glucose, and level of plasma triglyceride and total cholesterol. Furthermore, the expression of PPARã and GLUT4 mRNA in adipose or muscle tissue effectively was increased by oral treatment of LMTN extract. Thus, our results suggest that LMTN extract improves the glucose metabolism through PPARγ and insulin-mimetic effect in 3T3-L1 adipocytes and db/db mice.

To investigate the effect of L-arginine as stabilizing agent for omeprazole, the degradation rate constant of omeprazole in aqueous solution was determined at 30, 40 and $50^{\circ}C$ with various ratios of L-arginine to omeprazole. The pH of omeprazole solutions was also determined. As the amount of L-arginine increased, the pH of omeprazole solution also increased, and the solution appeared to be more stable. The omeprazole in aqueous solution could be stabilized by more than 15:1 molar ratio of L-arginine to omeprazole. The stability of omeprazole in commercial products using L-arginine or sodium phosphate dibasic as stabilizing agent was investigated. Among the commercial products, the omeprazole product prepared with L-arginine (molar ratio of L-arginine to omeprazole, 20:1) was most stable.

This study shows the defect detection and sizing capability of ultrasonic guided waves in the nondestructive inspection of heat exchanger and steam generator tubing. Phase and group velocity dispersion curves for the longitudinal and flexural modes of a sample Inconel tube were presented for the theoretical analysis. EDM(Electric Discharge Machining) wears in tubing under a tube support plate and circumferential laser notches in tubing were detected by an axisymmetric and a non-axisymmetric transducer set up, respectively. EDM wears were detected with L(0, 2), L(0, 3) and L(0, 4) modes and among them L(0, 4) mode was found to be the most sensitive. It was also found that the flexural modes around L(0, 1) mode could be used for the detection and sizing of laser notches in the tubing.

Optimum tissue culture conditions for an efficient induction of embryogenic callus from mature seeds of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) and regeneration of plants from callus tissues were investigated. MS medium containing 3 mg/L 2,4-D and 0.1 mg/L BA was optimal for embryogenic callus induction from mature seeds. The highest plant regeneration frequency (58.3%) was observed when the embryogenic callus tissues were cultured on N6 medium supplemented with 1 mg/L 2,4-D and 3 mg/L BA. Regenerated plants were grown normally when shoots transplanted to the soil. A short tissue culture period and high-frequency regeneration system would be helpful for molecular breeding of perennial ryegrass through Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation.

This study aimed to optimize medium composition and culture conditions for enhancing the biomass of Lactobacillus plantarum 200655 using statistical methods. The one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) method was used to screen the six carbon sources (glucose, sucrose, maltose, fructose, lactose, and galactose) and six nitrogen sources (peptone, tryptone, soytone, yeast extract, beef extract, and malt extract). Based on the OFAT results, six factors were selected for the Plackett-Burman design (PBD) to evaluate whether the variables had significant effects on the biomass. Maltose, yeast extract, and soytone were assessed as critical factors and therefore applied to response surface methodology (RSM). The optimal medium composition by RSM was composed of 31.29 g/l maltose, 30.27 g/l yeast extract, 39.43 g/l soytone, 5 g/l sodium acetate, 2 g/l K₂HPO₄, 1 g/l Tween 80, 0.1 g/l MgSO₄·7H₂O, and 0.05 g/l MnSO₄·H₂O, and the maximum biomass was predicted to be 3.951 g/l. Under the optimized medium, the biomass of L. plantarum 200655 was 3.845 g/l, which was similar to the predicted value and 1.58-fold higher than that of the unoptimized medium (2.429 g/l). Furthermore, the biomass increased to 4.505 g/l under optimized cultivation conditions. For lab-scale bioreactor validation, batch fermentation was conducted with a 5-L bioreactor containing 3.5 L of optimized medium. As a result, the highest yield of biomass (5.866 g/l) was obtained after 18 h of incubation at 30℃, pH 6.5, and 200 rpm. In conclusion, mass production by L. plantarum 200655 could be enhanced to obtain higher yields than that in MRS medium

Ferritin is an iron storage protein found in most living organisms. For expression and industrial use, human light chain ferritin (L-ferritin) was cloned from human liver cDNA library and expressed in Pichia pastoris strain GS115. The recombinant L-ferritin in Pichia pastoris was glycosylated. In a fed-batch culture, the cell mass reached about 57 g/l of dry cell weight, and the L-ferritin in the cell was increased to about 95 mg/l after 150 h. In an atomic absorption spectrometry analysis, the intracellular content of iron in the L-ferritin transformant was measured as $1,694{\pm}85\;\mu\textrm{g}g/g$, which is 5.4-fold more than that of the control strain. This L-ferritin transformant could serve as iron-fortified nutrients in animal feed stock.

In 1984, Johnson[A bounded convergence theorem for the Feynman in-tegral, J, Math. Phys, 25(1984), 1323-1326] proved a bounded convergence theorem for hte Feynman integral. This is the first stability theorem of the Feynman integral as an $L(L_2 (\mathbb{R}^N), L_2(\mathbb{R}^{N}))$ theory. Johnson and Lapidus [Generalized Dyson series, generalized Feynman digrams, the Feynman integral and Feynmans operational calculus. Mem, Amer, Math, Soc. 62(1986), no 351] studied stability theorems for the Feynman integral as an $L(L_2 (\mathbb{R}^N), L_2(\mathbb{R}^{N}))$ theory for the functional with arbitrary Borel measure. These papers treat functionals which involve only a single integral. In this paper, we obtain the stability theorems for the Feynman integral as an $L(L_1 (\mathbb{R}^N), L_{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{N}))$theory for the functionals which involve double integral with some Borel measures.

The highest degree of callus formation was obtained from the shoot tips of Dianthus superbus when cultured on the MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L NAA and 0.5 mg/L BAP. Embryogenic calluses were obtained from the seperated friable calluses on MS medium containing 2.0 mg/L 2,4-D after 7-8 wk of culture. For plant regeneration, embryogenic calluses were selected and cultured on te proliferation medium. After 3 wk, somatic embryos appeared on MSK medium (0.5 mg/L NAA, 2.0 mg/L kinetin) and N6 medium (2.0 mg/L kinetin, 0.1 mg/LNAA, 0.1 mg/L 2,4-D and 2.0 g/L casein hydrolysate). When these somatic embryos were kept under continuous illumination, shoots were successfully regenerated on the both media. The shoots were rooted on MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L NAA.

The GPS modernization program offered a new civil signal on the L2 band, and the first modernized GPS Block IIR satellite was launched in September 2005. Currently, eight GPS Block IIRM satellites and two Block IIF satellites transmit L2C signal. The L2C signal contains two codes of CM and CL that are much longer than the L1 C/A code. Thus, the acquisition of the CM and CL codes takes more time compared with that of L1 C/A code. Under the assumption that the L2C signal is strong enough for detection, this paper suggests rapid acquisition methods for the GPS L2C signals for software receivers and compares its performance with that of other methods.
