Primary lung cancer has increased markedly in its incidence and prevalence rate recently in Korea. In frequency, it occupies the second rank cancer preceded by stomach cancer in korean male. From February 1986 to December 1992, we have operated on 55 cases of primary lung cancer in Korea Veterans Hospital and followed them. The results are as follows; 1. The peak incidence of age of primary lung cancer was 6th decade and 5th decade and those were 87.3% of study group, mainly in male. 2. Symptoms were cough [63.6%], dyspnea [41.8%], chest pain and discomfort [38.2%], blood tinged sputum and hemoptysis [21.8%]. Symptoms were frequently encountered before hospitalization and asymptomatic cases were 9.1% of study group. 3. Methods of diagnostic confirmation were bronchoscopic biopsy [52.7%], percutaneous needle aspiration[PCNA][21.8%], sputum cytolgy [12.7%], open biopsy [12.7%]. 4. Histopathologically, squamous cell carcinoma [76.4%] was the most frequent cancer and adenocarcinoma [10.9%], giant cell cancer [7.3%], and the others in order. 5. Methods of operation were pneumonectomy [32.7%], bilobectomy [18.2%], lobectomy [27.3%], lobectomy and segmenectomy [1.8%], exploration [20%], and overall resectability was 80%. 6. Operative mortality was 5.5% [3 cases] and there were 5 cases of complication. 7. Postoperative long-term follow up reveals that the cumulative survival rates in 6 months, 12 months, 26 months, 34 months, 43 months, 64 months were 89.5%, 71.7%, 66.7%, 57.2%, 50.8%, 42.3% respecively.

Gradual teeth wear is normal physiological progress, severe tooth wear can causes dysfunction, occlusal plane disharmony and esthetic problems. If additional space is needed for prosthetic restoration due to severe attrition, full mouth rehabilitation with increase of occlusal vertical dimension may be considered. In this case, 72 year old male patient with severe worn dentition, irregular gingival zenith and deep anterior bite was treated by full mouth rehabilitation for regaining the space for restoration, improving relationship and esthetic of anterior teeth. Provisional restoration obtained by systemic analysis, diagnosis and re-evaluation for a sufficient time was replicated to final restorations through double scanning technique using monolithic zirconia blocks. Satisfactory functional and esthetic outcomes were obtained.
The prosthesis of the implant installed in inappropriate positions presents aesthetic and functional problems. If the implants are placed in the wrong position, re-implantation is often limited. There are surgical and non-surgical methods for resolving complications without re-implantation. The surgical costs, healing time, discomfort and unpredictability make this choice unpopular. On the other hand, a gingival mask has the advantage of solving complications quickly and simply. The patient was a 80-year-old male with palatally installed implant in maxillary anterior region and dissatisfied with his unesthetic philtrum and food impaction between the upper lip and the prosthesis. It was difficult to predict the prognosis of surgical operation, and the patient wanted treatment economically and physically burdenless because of his age and financial situation. Thus, the gingival mask was planned and the results were satisfactory.
Gradual tooth wear is a natural process of aging, but pathological wear over physiologic ranges leads to functional and esthetic problems. The loss of posterior support may cause pathological wear of anterior teeth, which results in reduction of vertical dimension and disharmony of occlusal plane. To solve this problem, determination of proper vertical dimension considering centric relation is necessary. This case report presented 71-year-old male, who had the severe wear of lower anterior teeth due to loss of posterior support. By meticulous evaluation, a full mouth rehabilitation with elevation of vertical dimension was planned. After 8 months of follow-up, stable occlusal scheme is maintained and patient was satisfied with clinical outcome functionally and esthetically.
It is essential to record maxillomandibular relationship accurately for the harmony of esthetic and function in complete denture. Gothic arch tracing visually demonstrates the movement of the mandible, and is useful to establish accurate and reproducible centric relation. Proper retention and stability of complete denture in patients with severe alveolar bone resorption is difficult to attain. In such case, the closed mouth impression technique might be recommended. The denture border and impression are determined by patient's physiologic movement in the closed mouth impression technique. And, denture peripheral border is entirely closed with oral mucous membrane. This report presents satisfactory complete denture restoration using closed mouth impression technique and gothic arch tracing in patients with mandibular condyle fracture and severe absorption of mandibular alveolar ridge.
Meniscal allograft transplantation (MAT) is an accepted treatment for the symptomatic postmeniscectomized knee in younger patients. However, the likelihood of a successful outcome is reduced by various complications. One of the complications after MAT is manifested as grafted meniscal tear. However, a bucket handle meniscal tear (BHMT) following MAT is an uncommon complication and furthermore a BHMT after revisional MAT (RMAT) is a extremely rare complication. We encountered a case of BHMT after RMAT in a lateral meniscus. Retrospectively reviewing the case, we could assume the cause, which would be helpful to prevent the complication in further MAT procedures.
In removable partial denture with crossed occlusion, it is difficult to meet the satisfaction of patient due to variable movement of denture and unfavorable stability under loading. In a case with few unilaterally teeth remaining, additional treatments such as implantation or residual root are required to assure bilaterally stable support. However, due to the medical condition of the patient with hypertension, angina and old age etc., removable partial denture was planned as treatment in this case. Proper diagnosis, accurate analysis and full understanding of the adaptation for neuromuscular system are necessary to recover the vertical dimension of patient from a decreased vertical dimension due to crossed occlusion.

PURPOSE: The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of physical therapy provided at home on the motor function, activity of daily living (ADL), and level of pain in veterans men with disabilities, and to provide the information. METHODS: The participants were 108 patients men with disabilities living in the cities Seoul, Pusan, Daegu, Gwangju and Daejeon; they performed physical therapy at home-provided by physical therapy services- that included therapeutic exercise for 50 minute, 1~2 times a week for 24 weeks. The motor function was measured by using motor assessment scale (MAS) and ADL, the level of pain were recorded both before and after physical therapy. The data form both before and after physical therapy were analyzed by using the paired t-test. All statistical tests in this study were performed with the level of significance set at .05. RESULTS: After 24 weeks of physical therapy, we observed significant improvement in the MAS and ADL scale, as well as significant decrease in the level fo pain in the participants (p<.01). Significant improvement was also observed in the MAS and ADL scale, as well as a decrease in the level of pain among participants with stroke and spinal disease (p<.05). CONCLUSION: The findings of this study show that physical therapy provided at home can lead to an improvement in the motor function as well as improved ADL and pain control; physical therapy also has positive effects in relieving symptoms of veterans with disabilities.

Excessive pathological attrition over the entire dentition can cause decreased masticatory function, and pathological problems of the temporomandibular joint and the muscular nervous system. In this case, 71 year-old male patient with severe attrition and fracture across the entire tooth was treated by full mouth rehabilitation for regaining space of restoration. In order to determine the appropriate vertical dimension of the patient's occlusion, facial appearance, aesthetics, restoration space were evaluated, and provisional restoration of the raised vertical dimension was made. After 4 months of evaluation, the entire restoration of monolithic zirconia crown using CAD-CAM was completed. Through the above process, satisfactory aesthetic and functional results were obtained.

Implant placement in the anterior region is performed in several stages, and harmonization of both hard and soft tissues is essential. In addition, adequate esthetic and functional evaluations are necessary in the process of transitioning from the provisional to the final prosthesis to attain patient satisfaction. Although gingiva can be molded in the anterior region, depression in the occlusal view can yield good results through the augmentation procedure. However, the harvesting of connective tissue from the palate is not suitable for various reasons, such as postoperative discomfort and intraoperative bleeding. Compared to the palatal area, the harvesting of connective tissue from the maxillary tuberosity can easily result in relatively thick tissue and quick healing of the donor site, thus proving to be a good modality for graft procedures. The purpose of this report is to examine the relevant evidence from previous studies and evaluate the process of soft tissue augmentation through a case presentation.
