  • The purpose of the present study is to investigate the various reasons that might lead single women to choose not to marry. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were arranged with 18 single women who met the criteria for the present research purpose. We considered only those responses of the interviewees that are directly related to their reasons why they choose not to marry, where the collected data were analyzed in three steps by methods of thematic analysis. As a result of the analysis, the reasons for which they chose not to marry could be grouped into three main clusters of themes which may be labeled as (1) themes centered on 'Myself', (2) themes centered on 'Family' and (3) themes centered on 'Surrounding Environments and Friends'. Among the first category of themes of 'Myself', we have found five sub-themes such as "Lack of emotional communication", "Not-found spouse meeting my criteria", "My personality", "Self-narcissism or self-centeredness", "False beliefs in marriage". As for the second category of themes 'Family', three sub-themes have been found including "Family of origin conflict", "Closeness to family of origin", "Comfortable daily lives". And for the final category of themes 'Surrounding Environments and Friends', there were found three sub-themes which include "Negative effects of married friends", "Emotional support system", "Changing social atmosphere". In all there are eleven sub-themes to consider. On the basis of these results, we presented some conclusions on the reasons why single women in their thirties or forties choose not to marry. We also presented some implications of these results on population education and future research.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a perceived elderly stigma scale for intergenerational research and practice. Although negative stereotypes on elderly population have worsened physical and psychological health of older people, there has been a lack of systematic efforts to measure and monitor stigmatic perception and behavior of younger generation on elderly people. We initially constructed a 34-item perceived elderly stigma scale, by integrating the processes of literature review and exploratory item generation. After confirming the face validity of the scale, a 31-item perceived elderly stigma scale was tested with 252 adults recruited from an online research panel. The result of an exploratory factor analysis suggests a 5-factor solution with 28 items: ability, personality, appearance, authoritarian dependancy, and family-obsession. The convergent/discriminant validity was confirmed by examining its relationships with ageism, elderly discrimination, attitude toward elderly, and respect for elderly. After a series of refinement and empirical tests, the perceived elderly stigma scale would contribute to understanding the current state of elderly discrimination in our society and to develop necessary policies and promotion strategies to eliminate intergenerational conflicts.

  • This study aimed to understand the increasing number of elder abuses in South Korea, where entry into the super-aged society is imminent, by implementing text mining analysis. Korean Academic journals were obtained from 2004, the establishment year of the senior care agency, to 2021. We performed natural language processing of the titles, keywords, and abstracts and divided them into three segments of periods to identify latent meanings in the data. The results illustrated that the first section included 81 papers, the second 64, and the third 104 respectively, averaging 13.8 annually, which increased its numbers from 2014 until the decrease below the annual average in 2020. Word frequency demonstrated that the common keywords of the entire segments were 'elder abuse,' 'elders,' 'influences,' 'factors,' 'recognition,' 'family,' 'society,' 'prevention plans,' 'experiences,' 'abused elders,' 'abuse prevention,' 'depression,' etc., in consecutive order. TF-IDF indicated that 'influences,' 'recognition,' 'society,' 'prevention plans,' 'abuse prevention,' 'experiences,' 'depression,' etc., were the common keywords of all divisions. Network text analysis displayed that the commonly represented keywords were 'elder abuse,' 'elders,' 'influences,' 'factors,' 'characteristics,' 'recognition,' 'family,' 'prevention plans,' 'society,' 'abuse prevention,' and 'experiences' in the entire sections. concor analysis presented that the first segment consisted of 5 groups, the second 7, and the third 6. We suggest future directions for elder abuse research based on the results.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the labor division between men's housework and market work and to research the change of men's contribution to housework. And it was also examined what kinds of valuables work on a change in men's market work and housework. The information about men's change in the labor division was collected from the biggest 5 news papers in Korea for last five years for this study. And either men's new participation trend to household work did. Words searched for this study were men, labor, family, home, housewife, work, household work, father etc. Korean men have experienced a overloaded breadwinner role and have worked most in the world since 1960s. But Korean men's working time was continuously decreased a little every year. As Korean Companies had fired many worker during IMP economic crisis period, Korean men had to work more than before because of decreased fellows and they should have concentrated on their work at the sacrifice of private life and family-sharing time. On the other hand, some men were started to participate to do housework as a results of long-unemployment and early retirement after this periods. 5 day working system be in forced gradually since 2003 especially make men come back home and interest on housework. So Korean men's housework participation is gradually increasing by the practical application of sex-equitable politics such as 5 day working system and men's suspension regime for baby care. father's increased participation to children education and care, men's new family-oriented life style, dual-sexuality education system, and socially changed perception to husband housemaker. These interrelated trends demands us to shape a new labor division pattern in the family that make change the breadwinner/homemaker conception by the gender role. Now, all of family, men, women, and children have to join housework. It would help women, men, and all families make more human and equitable relationship.

  • Family, Self or State as a Desired Source of Support for the Elderly As Korean society has undergone rapid socioeconomic transformation and reached the final stage of its demographic transition, the central emphasis of population policies in Korea has shifted from fertility and population control to aging issues. Recently, it has been advocated that the Korean government should provide more intensive public services to supplement self-care and family caregiving, heightening the need to know more about the norms and expectations of old-age support and how they will change. Using the Survey of the Living Status of the Korean Elderly in 1994, this study investigates the extent to which the Korean elderly themselves view family, self, or the state as desired sources of support. The multinomial log it model analysis reveals that the elderly without a son are less likely to emphasize the traditional view of family, while economically and physically better off elderly are more likely to favor the view of self-support. However, the idea that the emphasis on the 'state responsibility' may be found among those elderly who are in need of financial help and in poor health is not supported. The implications and suggestions for further research are discussed.

  • Objectives: The study aims to compare indirect form of employment with direct form of employment on the variables of occupational danger and physical health. Methods: I studied based on the data of 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey (KWCS) which was performed by Occupational Safety & Health Research Institute of Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency in 2017. SAS 9.4 was used for statistical analysis of the final data. Results: Based on the verification result, the hazard is higher for direct employment than for dispatch or subcontract in case of exposure to risks in the health and social welfare industry. Based on cross tabulation, significant differences were found in the proportions of harmful and safe tasks in direct employment and those in outsourcing in the physical health industry. It was found that the risk of hazard is 2.18 times higher in outsourcing jobs than in direct employment. Conclusions: It is necessary to consider a dispatch and subcontract partner as a strategic partner and not simply hand over dangerous or hard tasks to them. Active and aggressive cooperation along with support from the employer enterprise built in the contract is necessary for the safety and health of dispatch or subcontract laborers.

  • Rural tourism is considered one of the main components of travel today. This may explain the emerging interest in tourist behavior at rural sites. Nevertheless, it can be argued that research on tourists' motivation as well as segmentation for visiting rural sites is still in its infancy. The purpose of this study has three main objectives: (1)to adjust the motivations of rural tourism to the general motivations for all travelers and find the core factors for rural tourists. (2)to show the segmentation of korean rural tourists, and (3)to suggest the characteristics of rural tourists' typology. This paper was conducted through two studies: a literature review and a survey for empirical exploration of the ideas. The empirical data are extracted through convenience, and the valid questionnaires totaled to 828. The Frequency, Descriptive, Factor, Cluster, Discriminant, Cross-tabulation analysis were used for the data analysis. The results of analysis indicate that the rural tourists' motivation is consisted of 14 factors. the key elements play a major role in rural tourism. and the rural tourists' market was divided into 5 different groups. The results of this study will not only contributes to a better understanding of rural tourism due to clarification of tourist motivations but also have implication for the development and management of rural sites.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the factors that could overcome the crisis and adversity of the nursing care provider through understanding the effect of job adaptation on the turnover intention of the nursing care provider and to contribute to the various problems of the nursing care provider in the long term. In order to confirm this as an empirical research task, risk factors and protection factors, general characteristics of the survey subjects, job adaptation and turnover intention were selected, and the risk factors and protective factors of caregivers' As a mediator. So Seoul. The results of the questionnaire survey were as follows: 291 caregivers in the elderly medical welfare facilities in Gyeonggi area. First, as the relationship between the risk factors and protective factors of occupational caregivers and occupational adaptation were more severe, the higher the maladjustment of the workplace culture, the more the job satisfaction and organizational commitment were adversely affected. The emotional support, The higher the information support, the more satisfied and satisfied the job. Second, the relationship between the risk factors of the caregiver and the protective factors and the turnover intention, the higher the conflict of caregivers, the more unstable the workplace, the more difficult it is to adapt to work culture, Respectively. Finally, as a result of verifying the mediating effect of occupational adaptation on the relationship between risk factors and protective factors and turnover intention of caregivers, job satisfaction, which is a sub-factor of job adaptation, It is shown that they play mediating roles only in the relationship between stress and turnover intention, and do not play a mediating role in the relationship between protective factor self - efficacy and social support and turnover intention. In other words, if caregivers feel satisfaction about their job, they can be less stressed on their jobs, improve their self-efficacy, and have a positive attitude toward social support. Also, it was found that the more the caregiver 's immersion into the organization, the less job stress and turnover intention decreased, but the self - efficacy and social support perception were not influenced. Based on this, the director of the facility should strive to stabilize the operation of the facility and provide high-quality services by seeking ways to improve conflict resolution and adaptation to the workplace culture so that nursing care workers can adapt to their work. And it is required to develop active management strategies and institutional support for improving job satisfaction and organizational commitment of caregivers.

  • With the request for the advent of new engine toward economic growth, the issue regarding public-owned data disclosure has been increasing. The Korean governments are forced to open public-owned data and to utilize them in solving the various social problems and in promoting the welfare for the people. In contrast, due to the distrust of the effectiveness for the policy, many public owned organizations hesitate to open the public-owned data. However, in spite of communication gap between the government and public organizations, Ministry of Government Administration and National Information Society Agency recently planned to accelerate the information disclosure. The study aims to analyze the perception of the public organization for public data utilization and to provide proper recommendations. This research identified mutual weights that the organization recognize in opening and sharing the public data, based on benefit, opportunity, cost, and risk. ANP decision making tool and BOCR model were applied to the analyses. The results show that there are significant differences in perceiving risk and opportunity elements between the government and public organizations. Finally, the study proposed the ideal alternatives based on four elements. The study will hopefully provide the guideline to the public organizations, and assist the related authorities with the information disclosure policy in coming up with the relevant regulations.
