An Arc Sensor and Its Interface System for Welding Robots (용접로봇용 아크센서 및 인터페이스 시스템)

  • An arc sensor system to compensate positional errors was developed on the foundation of sensor interface system to make use of the on-line shift function of industrial welding robot. Investigating the on-line shift function, we examine the quantitative relationship between the deviation from programmed path and the correction data transferred from personal computer to robot controller. The number of input parameters for weld seam tracking can be reduced by making the relationship between the deviation and the correction data during half weaving be the function of only cross time. With the results of weld seam tracking for the butt joint with V-groove and fillet joint of sheet metal, good performance was implemented. By developing the sensor interface system to compensate the positional errors, industrial welding robot can be expected to contribute to the promotion of welding automation.

An alternative method for smartphone input using AR markers

  • As smartphones came into wide use recently, it has become increasingly popular not only among young people, but among middle-aged people as well. Most smartphones adopt capacitive full touch screen, so touch commands are made by fingers unlike the PDAs in the past that use touch pens. In this case, a significant portion of the smartphone's screen is blocked by the finger so it is impossible to see the screens around the finger touching the screen; this causes difficulties in making precise inputs. To solve this problem, this research proposes a method of using simple AR markers to improve the interface of smartphones. A marker is placed in front of the smartphone camera. Then, the camera image of the marker is analyzed to determine the position of the marker as the position of the mouse cursor. This method can enable click, double-click, drag-and-drop used in PCs as well as touch, slide, long-touch-input in smartphones. Through this research, smartphone inputs can be made more precise and simple, and show the possibility of the application of a new concept of smartphone interface.

  • In this paper, we propose an implementation technology for an active attenuator with the maximum attenuation of -110dBm in the frequency band of 50MHz to 2,15GHz. It provides USB interface to connect to PC providing GUI that sets signal frequency and attenuation step of minimum 1dB. As it attenuates the input signal level down to -110dBm, circuit and equipment design technologies are applied to control both internal and external electro-magnetic noises.. Through the performance test, it is assured that it attenuates input signal level down to -110dBm for the input signal levels of -10 to -30dBm.

  • This study intends to develop a computer software for an efficient swineherd production and management. Current softwares are concerned on the sow management and ignore the actual farm environment. This study focuses on the farm environment in developing the software and covers the production management financial management, marketing management, and business planning for swineherd farm. The FSR(Farming Systems Research) analysis and interview survey aye applied to collect the data for the system planning, farmer's demand and analysis on the system, system design and program development. The systems are designed to meet the needs for the progressive swineherd farmers. Visual FoxPro 5.1 is used to develop the system. The developed system includes pig farm financial records keeping and management, pig farm production management program, pig farm marketing management program, and pig farm business diagnosis and planning program to meet the scope of the study. The weekly maintenance records and financial records are adopted for the input interface since most of farmers use their computer less than 5 hours a week. Pulldown Menu systems are adopted and designed for easy use by structuring to meet the pig farm and system demands. The manu system allocates the input-output screen based on the sectors, scopes, users, frequencies, importances, and the usages of the information. The GUI(Graphic User Interface) method is used to develop input-output screens for easy use. Backward Chaining mechanism fo the Expert System is used in the diagnosis of the pig farm management and the Systems Simulators Approach is used in the pig farm management planning.

  • The purpose of this research is 1) to search for the possibility of DMDI(Digitalwear based on motion-detective input technology) as an apparel product and 2) to develop designs of DMDI based on consumers' demand. This research consists of part I and part Ⅱ. In partⅠ, six design guidelines for designing of DMDI and five feasible applications were suggested as the result of an empirical study. In part Ⅱ of this research, two basic directions for designing of DMDI were suggested on the basis of the findings in part Ⅰ. Total 5 design prototypes of DMDI were developed, for which ‘wearability as an apparel product’ and ‘usability as an physical interface’ were intensively considered.

  • The advancement of touch user interface technology is mostly due to the debut and success of the new user experience (UX), the iPhone. The introduction of Apple's iPhone especially made possible for the user experience to break away from the traditional input device of the mouse and keyboard. It is advancing from the current 3rd generation touch interface technology into the 4th generation non-touch user interface technology. This paper will present a non-touch interaction technology that allows interaction in a three dimensional setting through 3-D space touch. It will analyze current technologies and future emerging technologies.

  • As an advance in medical technology development is being made, and people are increasingly aware of the importance of health, related investments and people's average life expectancy rise, which in turn leads to an increase in elderly people. Also, with a growing number of elderly people enjoying their leisure activities, the utilization of multimedia contents using computers is on the increase, leading to an activated research into the establishment of digital culture for the elderly people. This paper proposes a Korean text input system to enable the elderly to utilize digital contents. Text input interface has conventionally depended on keyboards. However, the keyboard wherein many keys are dispersed creates problems for the elderly, such as a protracted recognition of keys and a lowered concentration when they use the keyboard. To address these problems, in this paper, the grip type controller interface for console games was used and a corresponding alphabet location algorithm was developed. To verify these efforts, a simulator was developed to test 20 elderly people; as a result, their satisfaction over and convenience of using the grip type interface invreased.

  • The paper presets the improvements of MMI at the PROSET2000 correction program which is totally computerized system of the power system protection. The Base Form that is an open interface is developed to be able to compose the screen by reading the input screen from the database. It also is developed to be suitable for the environment of the Graphical User Interface instead of the DOS window when the users do the pannel settings. Program development in this paper is designed by Unified Modeling Language(UML) techniques.

  • The verification portion of SoC design consumes about 70% of total design effort. To reduce the verification effort and time, it is necessary and desirable to raise the level of SoC design verifications level from the signal or cycle level to the transaction. This paper describes a generation method of transaction monitor modules that monitor interface signals, logging the transaction executions, and report transaction errors. The input of the generation method is a transaction-oriented interface protocol description.

  • This paper proposes both a novel tactile human-computer interface method and an improved algorithm for the wearable PC. Under the condition of Ubiquitous computing, the next generation PC aims at effective representation and integration of colors, brightness of light. sound, odor, taste and feelings. Also, it aims at human being centered man-machine interface. In spite of various functions of the wearable PC, for the convenience of possessing, hardware platform for the wearable PC should be small-sized and light weighted one. The main problems of making small sized PC are user interfaces, like keyboard, monitor and so on. The traditional user interfaces have critical limitations for reducing their size. In this paper, we propose a novel user input method and improved algorithm to constructing small sized, light weighted and wearable PC. And, we verify the effectiveness of suggested method and algorithm compared to the traditional algorithm.
