건강행위이론의 사회문화적 적합성에 대한 논의;한인여성의 유방암 방사선 검사 행위와 관련하여 (An Examination of Theories of Health Behaviors for Guiding Research on Mammogram Screening Practices for Korean Immigrant Women)

  • 연구 목적: 1980년대 이후 미국 여성들의 유방암 조기 진단을 위한 방사선 검진율은 급속히 증가하였음에도 불구하고 유색 인종의 여성들은 여전히 조기 검진의 혜택을 받지 못하고 있다. 유색인종 여성들의 낮은 검진율을 설명하기 위해 여러 건강행위이론을 이용한 관련 요인들이 연구되어 왔다. 이 논문은 미국 보건 의료관련 연구에서 가장 많이 쓰이는 다섯 건강행위 이론을 유색 인종 여성, 특히 한국 이민 여성들의 유방암 조기검진 이행에 적용하기 위해 사회문화적 적합성을 평가하기 위해 고안되었다. 연구 방법: 네 종류의 데이터 베이스(CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Sociological Abstracts)를 이용한 심층적 문헌 고찰을 통해 각각의 이론으로 유방암 조기 검진을 설명한 연구들을 모두 분석하였다. 연구 결과: 각 이론들의 배경, 주요 요인, 그리고 유색인종의 유방암 조기 검진에서의 적용 연구 등을 분석하였다. 결론: 서양 문화권 속에서 개발된 각 이론들이 한국적 정서와 행동을 설명하는데 명확한 한계가 있으며 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해서는 기존의 이론들을 면밀하게 재분석하여 한국적 특성을 담아낼 수 있는 새로운 이론의 도출이 요구된다.

여성 한상 중소기업 경영자가 보유한 한국인 특유의 경쟁우위 요소가 무엇인가? : 호주소재 여성 한상기업들의 사례를 중심으로 (What Kinds of Korean Peculiar Competitive Advantage do Woman Han-Sang have ? : The Cases of Women Han-Sang in Australia)

  • 본 연구는 해외에서 중소기업을 운영하고 있는 한상 여성 기업인이 어떤 한국적 경쟁우위를 바탕으로 사업을 성공적으로 수행 할 수 있었는지 탐색하기 위해 호주 여성 한상 중소기업을 대상으로 그 요인들을 규명하고자 하였다. 사례 대상 기업은 호주에 소재한 2개의 기업으로 시드니에 본사를 둔 청소용역업체인 "제마이홀딩스"와 호주 전역에 27개의 체인점을 둔 스시레스토랑 "스시베이"이다. 적용 이론으로 마이클포터의 다이아몬드 모델을 선택하여 두 기업에 대한 경쟁우위를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 경쟁우위 요소는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가족기업으로서 여성 CEO의 탁월한 동적역량이다. 변화 환경에의 탁월한 적응능력, 여성으로서의 섬세한 경영, 엄마와 같은 감성적 리더십, 솔선수범 정신 등이 그것이다. 둘째, 한국특유의 문화에 기반한 성실과 근면, can-do 정신, 규율, 인내 그리고 빠른 실행력을 들 수 있다. 그리고 한인 기업인들의 이주자라는 사회적 지위는 그 사회에서 열세로 작용하지만 그러한 이주자의 특성을 살려 이주자사회와의 연대를 적극 활용하였다는 점도 발견할 수 있었다.

다문화가정 맞춤형 영양교육 프로그램과 운영시스템 개선을 위한 질적 연구 : 프로그램 제공자 측면 (Qualitative Study on Improvement of Operating System and Tailored Nutrition Education Program for Marriage Immigrants to Korea: Program Providers' Perspective)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status of nutrition education programs for multicultural families and to provide policy suggestions for improvement. Methods: In-depth interviews of a total of 21 multicultural experts were conducted; 15 people were interviewed individually, while 6 people were interviewed in groups of three. Results: In-depth interviews revealed various problems related to the operation of nutrition education programs. The causes of problems were analyzed and categorized as four factors: systemic, practical, environmental and cultural. As for the systematic factors, insufficient linkage between related organizations and duplicate performance of several projects were identified as concerns Establishment of a control tower and strengthening the linkage among the related organizations may be needed to address this concern. With regard to practical factors, the study identified that language barriers, and lack of nutritional education media and tools translated into multicultural languages were limiting factors. These limitations the development of nutrition education materials that aretranslated into multiple languages, implementation of education programs that are different from the Korean education, and by providing interpreters. As for the environmental factors, low educational level and poor nutritional knowledge of multicultural women made it difficult for them to understand the contents of the education. Demonstration, practical training and urgent education on pregnancy and childbirth nutrition were identified as needs to address these concerns. Withregard to cultural factors, food culture conflict with Korean families, and difficulties in home practices were detected as concerns. Participants in the study suggested that getting education with family and facilitation of weekend and nighttime programs health of this community. Conclusions: Further studies are needed to adopt more effective and efficient nutrition intervention to promote the healthy eating of the married immigrant women based on the study results.

일 지역 다문화 가족에 대한 인식도 조사 연구 (Recognition of Multi-Cultural Families in Certain Areas)

  • Purpose & Method: Based on a large amount of research concerning the recognition of local residents in an era of an increasing number of multi-cultural families, this study aimed to provide fundamental data for program development and policies. As well, the data was stratified based on understanding of multi-cultural society, recognition of multi-cultural families, and social and economic adaptability of multi-cultural families. Result: The available literature supports the view that an understanding of a multi-cultural society and recognition of multi-cultural families encourages an emphasis on maintaining ethnicity and respect for diverse cultures. Parental approval for friendships with members of multi-cultural families tends to be encouraged, although there is still resistance to marital ties with such families. The literature indicates that immigrant women participate in economic activities of their adopted locale and adapt to the new societal structure. A positive correlation between recognition and interests in social and economic adaptiveness was apparent. Conclusion: Findings of the study suggest that complement, development, and application of realistic programs and institutional policies are required to understand multi-cultural families and establish a multi-cultural society. Ongoing research will be valuable in resolving outstanding questions and clarifying political alternatives.

유학생 참여 기반 다문화 교육 프로그램이 간호대학 신입생의 문화 간 의사소통 능력과 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a multicultural education program based on international students' participation on intercultural communication competence and nursing professionalism)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a multicultural education program that includes contact with persons from multiple cultures and to report on the program's effects on intercultural communication competence and nursing professionalism. Methods: A multicultural education program that included contact with persons from multiple cultures was developed, and a quasi-experimental study was performed using a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The experimental group comprised 32 participants, and the control group comprised 26 participants. An online survey was conducted before and immediately after the intervention to collect data. Results: The experimental and control groups' mean scores for intercultural communication competence before the intervention were 3.67 and 3.84, respectively, while their mean scores for nursing professionalism were 3.87 and 3.69, respectively. After the intervention, both the intercultural communication competence score and the nursing professionalism score improved to 4.02 in the experimental group. The study demonstrated significant improvement in intercultural communication competence and nursing professionalism after the multicultural education program was conducted. Conclusion: The study's results demonstrate the need to develop a multicultural education program including contact and communication with persons from multiple cultures, such as international students, women who immigrated for marriage, immigrant workers, and multicultural families.

생태학적 접근으로 본 다문화가정 기혼여성의 주거경험에 관한 연구 (Housing Experience of Married Women in Multi-Cultural Families from an Ecological Perspective)

  • This study examined the nature of multi-cultural families' housing problems living in South Korea. A qualitative research was conducted through in-depth interviews with immigrant women from three Southeast Asian countries. The subjects of this study were 15 married immigrants from the Philippine, Cambodia, and Vietnam living in Seoul. The major findings were as follows: firstly, reciprocity for the in-between person and environment: the preferred to blend into Korean society instead of making a community based on national origin. Secondly, intention to housing: all participants were passive about moving and the Vietnamese and Cambodians placed more importance on the family community than the Filipinas. Thirdly, meaning of housing and interaction: for the most important area in the house, the Vietnamese and Cambodians stated that rooms were for a couple and treated family space more importantly than Filipinas who pursuit personal comfort. Fourthly, housing adaptation process: adapting to climate difference between home countries and Korea was the biggest difficulty. Fifthly, residential satisfaction/dissatisfaction: mostly satisfied with housing facilities; however, they were dissatisfied with the number of rooms and house size due to a necessity for personal space. In conclusion, ideas implied from native country of married immigrants in multicultural families did not change significantly in preference of the current environment. The needs for an ethnic community was not great, because they seemed able to assimilate positively by living with a Korean husband and relatives. Gradual assimilation through a cultural acculturation process can be considered desirable.

국제결혼이주여성의 정체성 및 주체성의 사회적 위치성에 따른 변화 -구미 지역의 국제결혼이주여성의 생애사 분석을 중심으로- (A Study on the Change of Identity and Agency of International Marriage Migrant Women Changing with the Social Positionality : A Case Study of Gumi)

  • 이 연구는 국제결혼이주여성이 노동자에서 배우자, 어머니, 시민이라는 사회적 위치의 변화 과정에 따라 자신들의 정체성과 주체성도 달라지고 있음을 구미지역에 거주하는 8명의 이주여성을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰 방법으로 분석하였다. 본 연구는 이주여성들의 생애사적 체험을 토대로 개인적인 삶을 재구성하고 해석하는 과정을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 사례분석 결과, 이주여성들은 미혼여성노동자, 배우자, 어머니, 시민이라는 자신들이 처한 사회적 위치성에 따라 자신의 정체성이 유동되어짐을 보여주었다. 사회적 위치성은 이주라는 공간이동을 통하여 발생하는 새로운 영역과 사회적 관계를 동시에 보여준다. 본국의 과거성에서 출발하는 자신의 정체성은 정착국의 상황, 조건에 따라 변화하는 모습을 보이고 있었다. 결혼이주여성이 정책의 대상이나 매스컴의 대상으로 부각되면서 상대적으로 이주여성을 어려운 생활에 있는 피해자나 빈곤한 나라에서 온 무지한 자로 자신들을 상정하는 것에 결혼이주여성은 강한 거부감을 표시하였다. 이것은 주체적으로 선택한 국제결혼에 대한 이중적인 감정이 나타나고 있음을 보여준다. 그러나 정부정책으로 인한 결혼이민자가족지원센터라는 공간의 형성은 이들에게 집단적 여성주체로 설 수 있는 단초를 제공해 주었다. 그 결과 국제결혼이주여성을 결혼하기 위해 이주해 온 단일그룹으로서가 아닌 행위 주체로서의 이주여성들에 대한 다양하고 복잡한 상황들을 반영할 수 있는 연구들이 요구된다.

Non-vaccination Against COVID-19 Among Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants Adults in Peru: A Cross-sectional Study, 2022

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine factors associated with non-vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among the Venezuelan immigrant population residing in Peru. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using data obtained from the Second Survey of the Venezuelan Population Residing in Peru in 2022. The dependent variable was vaccination status against COVID-19. The independent variables included socio-demographic, economic, and migratory characteristics of the included population. Crude and adjusted generalized linear Poisson-family models were used to calculate prevalence ratios with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: A total of 7739 Venezuelan migrants aged 18 years or older were included. The proportion of non-vaccination against COVID-19 was 5.7%. Regarding associated factors, unemployment (adjusted prevalence ratio [aPR], 1.31; 95% CI, 1.04 to 1.65) was linked to an increased likelihood of not being vaccinated against COVID-19. In contrast, women (aPR, 0.76; 95% CI, 0.61 to 0.95), possessing a migration permit (aPR, 0.41; 95% CI, 0.31 to 0.54), and having health insurance (aPR, 0.47; 95% CI, 0.27 to 0.81) were associated with a decreased likelihood of being unvaccinated. Conclusions: The primary governmental and non-governmental institutions responsible for supporting and protecting the Venezuelan migrant and refugee population should improve vaccination access by issuing migration permits and providing health insurance.

결혼이민자 가족의 국내 취업활동 허용을 위한 관련법 개선방안 (Improvements of the Relevant Act for Working of the Marriage Immigrants' Family in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 결혼이민자 가족의 국내취업활동을 허용하는 방안을 마련하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 연구방법으로는 문헌고찰과 현장조사를 중심으로 결혼이민자를 둘러싼 사회 경제적 실태를 조사 분석하여 관련법 개정방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결론은 다음과 같다. 즉, 결혼이민자가 한국인과 결혼한 가장 큰 이유는 경제적 이유지만 대부분의 결혼이민자 가정이 경제적으로 여유가 없어 취업문제, 송금문제 등으로 다문화가정이 정착되지 못하고 불안정한 상태에 놓여 있다. 현행 고용허가제는 연고가 없는 외국인근로자(E-9)를 국내 근로자로 활용하고 있으나 연고가 있는 결혼이민자 가족에게 국내취업활동을 허용한다면 불안정한 다문화가정이 경제적으로 안정되고 결혼이민자들을 균형적이고 호혜적인 사회적 관계로 형성시키는데 도움이 될 수 있다. 이를 제도화하기 위해 "외국인 근로자고용등에 관한 법률"로 결혼이민자의 친정가족의 고용을 허가하는 방안과 "출입국관리법령" 상에 별도의 체류자격(가칭 H-3)을 부여하는 방안이 있다. 도입에 따른 총괄조정은 국무총리실에서, 관장은 고용노동부 혹은 여성가족부가 상호간에 기능적으로 분담토록 하는 것이 바람직하다.

미국이민 한국인의 스트레스 반응 양상과 생활사건과의 상관 연구 (Correlation Study between Stress Responses and Life Events as a Stressor)

  • Koreans are one of the fastest growing immigrant groups in America. Stress responses and stressors among this large cultural minority has been rarely been studied by nursing researchers. Adjusting to life in foreign country produces a great deal of stress. Differences in culture, language, expectations and social behavior can lead to misunderstandings between health care providers and clients. These misunderstandings are not well accounted for in health assessment. This study investigated the relationship between life events or / and daily activities as a stressor and the symptoms of stress among a sample of Korean immigrants in America. The symptoms of stress scale (SOS) was used to identify stress responses and open-ended questions were used to identify life events and daily activities considered by the respondents to be stressful. A simple random sample of 283 subjects was selected from the Directory of the Korean Society of Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Seattle. Demographically, the subjects ranged in age from 20 to 69 years, and the percentage of women and men was approximately 50% each. Almost ninety percent of the subjects were highly educated, 17% owners of business, 19% white collar professionals, 14% employed in sales or as skilled /unskilled labor, 27% as housewives and students and 3% had no occupation. The total group SOS mean was 0.8042 ; the SOS men for man was 0.7371, and for women was 0.8713. The stress response of this subject group was high, -the stress response of women higher than that for men. In an earlier study(June, 1992) with another sample, the total mean SOS score was similar to this one. The main stressful life events or / and daily activities were, in order, economic problems (N=97), interpersonal problems (N=68), children care problems (N=258), health problems (N=49), communication problems (N=42), family problems (N=38), worry about future career (N=36), and religious problems (N=25). There was a significant difference in the SOS means between the group that expressed life events or / and daily activities to be stressful and the group that did not. Interpersonal relationships and economic and family problems were stressors for those who complained about peripheral manifestations. cardiopulmonary symptoms, central-neurological symptoms, gastrointestinal symptoms, muscle ten-sion, habitual patterns, depression, anxiety, emotional irritability and cognitive disorganization. In summary, interpersonal relationships and economic and family problems influenced stress response manifestations. Income, the number of people in the family, the year of immigration. the level of education, and marital status were related to physiological and psychosocial stress responses.
