본 연구는 영국 런던지역의 한인 이주민 사례를 통해, 한인 이주민의 정착과정에서 한인네트워크 역할을 살펴보고, 한인네트워크의 활성화 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 영국으로의 최초 이주과정에서 대다수의 응답자들은 한인네트워크를 활용한 것으로 나타난다. 둘째로, 한인네트워크의 역할과 관련하여 응답자들은 종교활동, 쇼핑활동, 교육활동 분야에서 많이 활용하는 것으로 나타난다. 셋째로, 대다수의 응답자들은 한인네트워크의 활성화 필요성을 인지하고 있으며, 한인네트워크의 활성화 방안으로는 한국정부의 지원방안들에 대한 선호도가 높게 나타난다. 넷째로, 한인네트워크의 활성화 방안으로, 한인네트워크의 성숙단계에 따른 차별화되고 종합적인 한인네트워크의 활성화 모형을 제시하였다.

본 연구는 미국 LA지역의 한인 이주민 사례를 통해, 한인 이주민의 정착과정에서 한인네트워크 역할을 살펴보고, 한인네트워크의 활성화 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 미국으로의 최초 이주 및 주거지 선정과정에서 대부분의 응답자들은 한인네트워크와 민족공동체인 한인타운을 활용한 것으로 나타난다. 분산분석 결과를 보면, 한인네트워크의 역할은 최초 이주지가 LA지역인 집단, 초기 정착지가 한인타운인 집단, 현지 적응능력이 떨어지는 50대 이상의 고령자인 집단에서 더 중요하게 작용한 것을 확인할 수 있다. 둘째로, 응답자들은 한인네트워크를 종교활동, 쇼핑활동, 경제활동 분야에서 많이 활용하는 것으로 나타난다. 특히, 이주기간이 짧고, 고령이고, 영어능력이 부족하여 미국 주류사회에 편입이 어려운 집단에서 상대적으로 더 많이 활용하는 것으로 나타난다. 셋째로, 한인 이주민의 한인네트워크 활성화 필요성에 대한 인식을 보면, 응답자들은 한인네트워크를 미국 주류사회와의 유대강화를 위해 우선적으로 활용하기를 원하는 것으로 나타난다. 넷째로, 한인네트워크의 활성화 방안으로, 한인교회, 한인 경제단체, 한민족포털, 재외공관을 활용하는 방안을 제시하였다.

현재 일본에는 약 58만 명의 재일코리안이 거주하고 있다. 일본 정부와 사회로부터 다양한 차별을 극복하기 위해 민족적 주체성을 유지해왔던 재일 1세~2세들과는 달리 재일코리안 청소년기에 해당하는 재일 3세~4세들은 일본 정부의 동화정책에 의해 귀화자가 늘어나고 있는 현실이다. 이에 따라 재일코리안 청소년들의 민족정체성에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 이러한 배경 속에서 본 연구는 재일코리안 청소년의 민족정체성을 결정하는 요인이 무엇인지를 밝히고, 민족정체성 확립으로부터 얻을 수 있는 긍정적인 효과들이 무엇인지를 탐색해보는 것이다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 재일코리안 청소년의 연령, 이름형식, 국적, 출신학교, 부모의 영향 및 한국어 능력이 민족정체성 형성에 영향을 주고 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 민족정체성이 잘 확립된 재일코리안 청소년은 일본으로의 귀화를 고려하지 않고 있고, 한국에 대한 관심이 높으며, 한민족네트워크에 적극적으로 참여하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 재외한인을 민족자산으로 활용하려는 정부나 기관들에게 많은 실무적인 시사점을 제공해준다.

기존의 에스닉 인클레이브 연구는 지리학자들의 참여가 상대적으로 부진한 상황에서 에스닉 네트워크를 강조함에 따라 지리적 맥락과 산업 생산체계의 공간적 함의에 대한 설명이 별로 이루어지지 않아 이에 대한 이해가 매우 제한적이었다. 본 연구는 브라질 봉헤찌로 한인 의류산업지구를 사례로 봉헤찌로의 발전 경로와 의류산업의 생산체계 그리고 에스닉 네트워크를 함께 고찰함으로써 한인 인클레이브의 형성 메커니즘을 규명하고자 했다. 연구지역의 형성에는 에스닉 네트워크의 역할도 중요하지만, 이주자 의류 산업지역이라는 지역의 발전 경로와 의류산업의 생산체계와 관련하여 나타나는 공간적 수렴현상에도 그 원인이 있으며, 이 과정에는 비동족 이주자 집단 및 브라질 현지인들의 참여도 활발하게 이루어졌음을 알 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of social capital on the economic performance of Korean Business Residents in Japan and global competitiveness of Korea, and to find out social capital is the antecedent factor of these two variables. To serve the purpose of this study, we conducted the extensive survey on 153 Korean Business Residents in Japan in diverse industries. From the result, we identified that the economic performance becomes higher as the level of social capital increase, and the Korean Business Residents which has good performance affect the global competitiveness of Korea.

본 연구에서는 대구시 달서구 미곡동이라는 대도시의 일각에서 나타나는 세계화의 단면을 외국인 노동자들의 밀집거주지역에서 형성되는 에스닉 커뮤니티를 통하여 분석하고 있다. 선행연구에서 제시하는 바와 같이, 에스닉 커뮤니티는 문화와 자본, 에스닉 네트워크의 결절점으로서의 역할을 담당함으로서 에스닉 구성원들에게 있어서는 '우리라는 의식'을 공유하는 상징적인 공간으로서의 존재가 된다. 그리고 그러한 공간을 통하여 구성원간의 만남과 정보의 교환이 이루어지게 되며, 사회적 네트워크는 국경을 초월하여 모국이나 제3국까지 확산되어간다. 이곡동에서는 에스닉 상점이 커뮤니티의 중심적인 역할을 담당하여 구성원들이 하나의 공동체로서 자신들의 네트워크를 확산시켜나갈 수 있도록 하고 있었다. 하지만 그러한 네트워크는 자신들의 에스닉 집단에만 지나치게 초점이 맞추어져 있었기 때문에 아직까지도 외국인들과 지역주민과의 공감대는 형성되지 않고 있었다. 외국인노동자는 앞으로도 더욱 증가하게 될 것이며, 연구지역에서의 에스닉 커뮤니티화도 더욱 급속하게 진행될 것이라 예상되는 가운데 보다 공생이 가능한 다민족사회의 실현을 위한 방안이 검토되지 않으면 안 된다.

International marriage is composed over 10% among total marriage in Korea. Korea is changing rapidly to the multi-cultural society. The researches need to inquire into what the state of 'ethnic communities of the immigrant wives as the minorities' is and how the immigrant wives build and develop the ethnic networks longitudinally. At the beginning, this study tried to know what kinds of social networks the immigrant wives use for the process of being married and for the adjusting to marriage and Korean culture. For the purposes of this study FGI and the interviews were applied for the immigrant wives and the specialist groups in metropolitan city DaeGu. 18 interviewees from Vietnam, China, Philippine, etc.. were collected by the snow-ball sampling. The social networks of the immigrant wives in DaeGu were mainly private, but were deterritorialized and reterritorialized actively. They managed the close relationship with their family members of motherland, and had the networks sticky with relatives, friends, and other immigrant wives from the same countries. Even though they acquired the Korean nationality, they have the transnational identities. But the internet environment of Korea can contribute to activate the social networks for the ethnic communities of the immigrant wives.

Name separation (splitting full names into surnames and given names) is not a tedious task in a multiethnic country because the procedure for splitting surnames and given names is ethnicity-specific. Malaysia has multiple main ethnic groups; therefore, separating Malaysian full names into surnames and given names proves a challenge. In this study, we develop a two-phase framework for Malaysian name separation using deep learning. In the initial phase, we predict the ethnicity of full names. We propose a recurrent neural network with long short-term memory network-based model with character embeddings for prediction. Based on the predicted ethnicity, we use a rule-based algorithm for splitting full names into surnames and given names in the second phase. We evaluate the performance of the proposed model against various machine learning models and demonstrate that it outperforms them by an average of 9%. Moreover, transfer learning and fine-tuning of the proposed model with an additional dataset results in an improvement of up to 7% on average.

로스앤젤레스 한인타운은 지난 10여 년에 걸쳐 소수민족 이민자들의 엔클레이브(enclave)에서 초국적 경제공간으로 변모하고 있다. 도시정부의 재개발 계획과 지역 한인들의 경제재활성화를 위한 노력이 진행됨과 동시에, 한국으로부터의 초국적 행위자들은 기업부문뿐만 아니라 부동산 시장에 공격적으로 투자하고 있다. 그러나 모순적이게도 이러한 다중스케일적 지리적 변동은 한인타운을 로스앤젤레스에서 가장 빈곤하고 위험한 내부도시의 하나로 전락시키는 데에 기여하고 있다. 본 논문은 장소에 기반한 아래로부터의 접근을 토대로 이러한 공간적 모순의 본질을 탐색하는데, 특히 헤게모니를 쥔 로컬 행위자들, 도시정부, 초국적 행위자들이 형성하는 다중스케일적 네트워크가 최근 한인타운이 지니는 일상적 삶과 유리된 재현의 경제를 발달시키고 있음을 지적한다. 또한, 본 연구는 이러한 한인타운의 도시재생이 이 구역에 거주하는 한인들과 라티노 노동자들을 포함하는 커뮤니티 구성원을 배제시키고 착취하고 있음을 밝히고자 한다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 한인타운의 지속가능한 미래는 민족 담론을 극복하고 인종, 민족을 횡단할수 있는 '장소기반의' 커뮤니티 의식에서 논의되어야 함을 주장한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how future images are embodied in contemporary fashion design. To find out future images expressed in contemporary fashion design, this paper characterized the future society as information society, network society, pluralistic society, and global village. Cyber design and techno-style expressed through metal or lustrous material which is influenced by information symbolize future image. Also, minimalism which is characterized as simplicity and purity affects the contemporary fashion design. The network society which affets t the horizontal and functional social system diminishes the meaning of socio-economic status. Therefore, street fashion has diffused to high fashion, and the formal wear has tendency to be changed into casual wear. In addition, the meaning of status symbol in contemporary fashion design become decreased. The pluralistic society affects to search for one's own personality and identity. Also, contemporary fashion design is influenced by post-modernism and deconstructionism. In order words, genderless, ageles, seasonless, and infra fashion appeared. The global village emphasizes extension of universality in life style and search for world quality. so, ethnic fashions appear frequently in contemporary fashion design. Also, the effects of Korean traditional costume to contemporary fashion design has increased.
