  • In order to understand the buffering behavior of hygroscopic fabric under subzero conditions, microclimates of the wool and PET clothing system were measured and compared. Vertical type Man-Clothing-Environment simulator was used to measure the microclimate at the environmental temperature of -10$^{\circ}C$. Buffering capacity was quantified by calculating from the depth and width of the hyperbolic curve of the graph. Hydrophilic wool fabrics showed better buffering capacity at the transient state than hydrophobic PET fabrics; which is attributed to the heat of sorption.

  • The purpose of this study was to see if a relationship existed between the level of modesty in clothing ana clothing values of male and female university students. The difference between sex was also investigated. A questionnaire composed of Engelbrecht's 'Modesty in relation to women's dress' and Creekmore's 'Measure of eight clothing values' was administerd to 1, 100 students and the data from 888 respondents (466 male, 422 female) was analyzed by t-tests. findings were as follows : 1. There was no significant difference between male and female in the level of modesty in clothing. 2. Each score of sensory, economic. social, theoretical, and religious clothing value of male students was significantly high and exploratory, aesthetic and politicalclothing value score of female students was significantly high at the .005 level of confidence. 3. Each score of sensory economic, theoretical and religious clothing value was significantly high in Modest group and exploratory, aesthetic and political clothing value in Immodest group was significantly high at .005 level of confidence.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate compostion factor and special qualities of design about Korean clothing image. The 72 samples were obtained from domestic fashion magazines. The questionnaire, which was composed 23 semantic diffrential bi-polar scales, was distributed to 50 female students majoring in Clothing and Textiles. The data were analyzed through factor analysis, anova, scheffe's test, clust analysis. The results were as follows; 1) Through factor analysis about Korean clothing image, 5 factors were identified; elegance, simplicity, femininity, tradition, looseness. 2) By cluster analysis, 3 clusters were determined according to Korean clothing image. Special qualities of design about Korean clothing image showed that there were lots of H silhouette in clothing form, related harmony in color harmony, somewhat rough and crude in texture and simple design in decoration. Top was more or less fit and bottom was found somewhat exaggerated tendency in fitness. 3) As a result of the visual evaluation about Korean clothing image, there were significant differences in all factors.

  • In the experiment with a basic material for the design of summer wear that comfort can be obtained in temperature, to get individual differences, clothing styles (slacks, skirt), material differences(T/C, cotton), and the contrast between when naked and dressed, when two healthy females were dressed four kinds of summer wear as an object of experiment under the regular warm temperature environmental condition (24, 28, 32, $36^{\circ}C$, $60\pm10\%$ RH), the measurement of physiological, phychological change was taken and the result goes as follow; 1. Mean skin temperature rose by clothing, body weight loss decreased below $32^{\circ}C$, thermal sensation changed toward low temperature by $2\~3^{\circ}C$. 2. Mean skin temperature, body weight loss, the lowest blood pressure above $32^{\circ}C$, under-clothing temperature, and thermal sensation increased when in slacks to be compared with when in skirt. 3. Ambient temperature had a great effect on mean skin temperature, body weight loss, respiration, clothing surface temperature, under-clothing temperature and humidity, thermal sensation, etc. 4. It was admitted that pulse, thermal sensation, comfort show different individuality. 5. It was recognized that the lowest blood pressure, clothing surface temperature, under. clothing humidity differ according to the kinds of clothing. 6. A comfortable ambient temperature in clothing summer wear was about $27\~28^{\circ}C$.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate two aspects of high school boys' clothing attitudes as compared with their family value orientations and sex role attitudes. Family value orientations were measured through the Home Environment Inventory (Won Sik Jung: 1970). Sex role attitudes were measured through Osmond and Martin's Sex Role Attitude Scale. Clothing Attitudes: 1) Clothing Modesty was assessed by means of Kim; Won: Kim: and Lee's questionnaires, 2) Clothing Importance n?as assessed by means of Jung: Park: ana. Kirby'a questionnaires. The questionnaires were administered to a sample of 561 senior high school boys in Seoul. The data was analyzed by correlation. The results were as follows: 1) Traditional family value orientation was positively related to Clothing Modesty. 2) Materialistic family value orientation was positively related to Clothing Importance. 3) Sex role attitudes were not related to Clothing Importance and Clothing Modesty. 4) The attitude for the clothes controlled to wear is different with each other among the students, parents and teachers.

  • Interests in creating three-dimensionally designed fabric materials are growing rapidly in the sectors of the fashionable textiles with the creativity, new functions, and aesthetics. A number of finishing methods have been developed and proposed to add or create new functions and designs for silk fabrics. Due to the strong hydrogen bonds between the molecules of silk fibroins, the thermal treatment methods used in thermoplastic fiber processing, which can easily deform the synthetic filament fabrics to endow three-dimensional appearance to the fabrics, are not applicable to the silk fabric treatment. In order to modify the fine structure of silk fiber, neutral salt solution treatment methods have been suggested. In this study, the effect of the calcium nitrate solution on the physical and mechanical properties of silk fabrics was investigated by using the KES(Kawabata Evaluation System) equipment. Based on these findings, relationships between parameters, for example, the thickness and the compressional energy, the thickness and the compressional linearity, and the air permeability and the pore area statistical analysis were investigated. The relationships between the process parameters such as treatment temperature/time and the resulting fabric property parameters were also analyzed by using several SAS procedures.
