This study explores the interior image preferred by females living in urban areas. It also examines the relationship between interior image and socio-demographic characteristics such as age, marital status, employment status, total household income. The target population of this study was 301 adult females living in Kwangju City. The data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, General Linear Model, and Duncan's multiple range test using the SAS package. The major findings of this study were as follows. 1) The majority of the females generally preferred modernity of interior image to traditionalism. Also they preferred feminity of interior image to masculinity and complexity to simplicity. 2) Females in the age of 40s were more likely to prefer simple and oriental-traditionalism image to those under the age of 30s. 3) Those with the higher total household income were more 1ike1y prefer western-traditionalism image to those with the lower. But those with the lower household income were more tended to prefer modernity image to those with the higher.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the nutritional status of the Korean population and its relationship with the age, sex, economic status and geographic characteristics. Taking in consideration the geographic location and socioeconomic states, ten regions out of the twenty-four regions where the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs had executed a programme (National Nutrition Survey) on evaluation of the community nutritional status were selected. Hemoglobin concentration hematocrit, and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration were tested from a total of 906 subjects in a month of November, 1979. The results of this study suggest that the anemia prevalences of young children in Seoul and rural areas were remarkedly decreased during last ten years, but the prevalence of low income group in provincial cities are still high and particularly in 7-l4yr. and female adult group.

This study explores the types of lifestyle of females living in urban areas, and examines the relationship between the types of lifestyle and the preference for interior design images. The research sample is 301 adult females in Kwangju City, Korea. The sample is divided into two groups by employment status. Based on eight lifestyles by related factors, four major lifestyle types are classified: traditional type, private and sensible type, passive and private type, and environment-oriented and sensible type. The portions of these types are 32.6% of passive and private type, 21.6% of environment-oriented and sensible one, 21.6% of active and sensible one, and 16.6% of traditional one. The research of the lifestyle types reveals that they differ by age, marital status, education, and dwelling types. There are negligible differences among four types in preference for three interior design images.

Benign fibrous histiocytoma (FH) is a benign tumor composed of fibroblasts and histiocytes in varying proportions. This tumor is usually found in adult extremities but rarely occurs in deep soft tissues of the oral cavity. As it is difficult to diagnose with physical and radiologic exams, deep benign FH can only be diagnosed by histopathology. We report a case of a 36-year-old female patient who came to our department with painless swelling in the right buccal mucosa. This case report reviews the clinical, radiological, and histological aspects of this tumor.

A 30 year-old female patient with papillary thyroid carcinoma received her fifth radioiodine ablation therapy after the subtotal thyroidectomy. The scan, which was peformed one week after the last therapy, revealed residual uptake in the thyroid bed and uptake in the anterior mediastinum suggesting metastasis. However, further evaluation of the thorax with chest CT and camera-based FDG PET confirmed normal thymus without metastatic focus. Occasionally thymus remains intact in adult and has avidity for I-131 and FDG. Therefore, normal thymus (instead of metastasis) should be considered in patients with well differentiated thyroid carcinoma and anterior mediastinal radioiodine uptake.

The most recent, Jeong and Nakabo (1997) described Raja koreana as a new species based on an adult female specimen collected from the southwestern coast of Korean Peninsula. Raja koreana has several unique characters not shared with any other supraspecific taxa of Rajoidei, but it was provisionally included in the genus Raja because of having no information of its clasper. Later, two mature males and a few specimens of the species were collected from near the type locality. Therefore, a new genus should be erected for this species. The new genus is characterized by the followings: Rostral shaft straight, narrow and thick in depth: unsegmented base with filamentous cartilage. Dorsal surface of tail with a row of distinct thorns along midline, patches of distinct thorns anterior to first dorsal fin and between first and second dorsal fins in bathe sexes; most thorns directed anteriorly, and thornlets directed posteriorly. Scapulocoracoid comparatively short and high, rear corner high, without anterior bridge, postventral fenestra expanded. Distal tip of accessory terminal 1 claspser cartilage well separated from the tip of accessory terminal 2 clasper cartilage.

Two species of the genus Ypsolopha Latreille are reported for the first time from Korea: Ypsolopha vittella (Linnaeus) and Y. nigrofasciata Yang. The diagnosis, description, distribution, host plants, adult photographs, and pictures of female genitalia are provided.

The genus Pseudalelimma Inoue and its single described species P. miwai Inoue are recorded for the first time from Korea. Adult and genitalic characters of female are illustrated and briefly redescribed with its distributional ranges and host plants.

Epizootic streptococal infction is one of the common disease in guinea pig. We have confirmed 54 case of epizootic streptococal infection in guinea pig by histopathology and epidemiology. Grossly infection is characterized by the presense one to several enlarged lymph nodes particularly of the mandible cervical lymph nodes and accompanied by pleuropneumonia. Histologically there were lymphadenitis with abscesses surrounded by loose connective tissue fibrinopurulent pneumonia pleuritis myocarditis pericarditis and peritonitis. Epidemiological survey revealed that mortality was high in young adult female(15.1%) and changeable weather season such as spring and fall. From findings it was suggested that epizootic streptococal infection of guinea pig begin to infect in breeding colony around weaning period and died from that infection at animal facility during the quarantine period.

The authors have observed clinically and histopathologically on two cases of rhabdomyosarcomas occurred in the oral cavity. The results were as follow: 1. A case of adult pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma, involving the right mandibular third molar area of 52 year old male, revealed pathological fracture of the right mandibular angle area. Microscopically, sections of this tumor showed cross striations by staining of phosphotungstic acid hematoxylin. 2. A case of embryonal alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, involving the right buccal area of one year and ten months old female, revealed severe bone destruction on the right mandibular body area. Microscopically, sections of this tumor did not show cross striations.
