GPS is the global Navigation Satellite System which is developed by the United States Department of Defense as an abbreviation of the Global Positioning System. The GPS uses a constellation of 24 Medium Earth Orbit satellites that transmit precise microwave signals, that enable GPS receivers to determine their location, speed, direction, and time. Following, the shooting down of Korean Air Lines Flight 007 in 1983. President Ronald Reagan issued a directive making the system available free for civilian use as a common good. Since then, GPS has become a widely used aid to navigation worldwide, and a useful tool for map-making, land surveying, commerce, scientific uses, and hobbies such as geocaching. GPS also provides a precise time reference used in many applications including scientific study of earthquakes, and synchronization of telecommunications networks.

This study examined the readability of 4 different kinds of patient education handouts about computer tomography tests from 5 different university-affiliated hospitals in Korea. Readability was evaluated in terms of syntax. length of sentence, usage of unfamiliar words. foreign words. Chinese words, abbreviation, and technical jargon. This study found that all of the handouts were very difficult to read. An excessive use of complex and long sentences was found. Unfamiliar words, rarely used in everyday life, were recklessly used. Most of the unfamiliar words were Chinese words and can be exchanged with Korean language. Excessive medical terminologies were used without any explanations. Based on the study results, guidelines to make the handouts easier and more accessible to patients and their family were recommended.

Objective : In "Hyangyakjipseongbang" there are quotation remark as "Jipseong", that means "Hyangyakjipseongbang" because this is self-quotation. The contents of "Jipseong" that "Hyangyakjipseongbang" mentioned are in "Yifangjicheng". So "Jipseong" means abbreviation of "Yifangjicheng" and "Jipseong" should be "Jicheng". Method : We will try to do bibliographical methods on "Jicheng" and the books related to "Jicheng" through "Isekigo", "Zhongyiyijidacidian" and "Zhongguoyijitongkao". Result : "Yifangjicheng" is not handed down but the contents of that are in "Yifangdacheng". There are three differnt types(authors) of "Yifangdacheng". One of "Yifangdacheng" was enlarged to "Yifangdacheng". In "Euibangyoochui" there are several qutations such as "Yifangdacheng", "Yishudadian", "Nanbeijingxianfang", "Yongleilingfang" ralated to "Yifangjicheng". Conclusion : "Jipseong" mean "Yifangjicheng" instead of "Hyangyakjipseongbang" and there are some kinds of books related to the similar contents of "Jicheng".

The Eco-2 Project presents a win-win strategy for the environment and for the economy (ECO-2 is an abbreviation of Ecology and Economy), The project was initiated by the Korean Ministry of the Environment to promote the development of an environmental industry technology as a means of driving national development in this sector. Our project work belongs to the category of integrated environment management technology, and is described as a development and utilization of risk assessment and analysis system for integrated environmental management in municipal and industrial areas. The goal of our project is to develop available system software in health and ecological risk assessment and to offer it as Decision Support System (DSS) to aid the effective management of environmental risk in municipal and industrial areas in Korea.

PTEF membranes are used for roofing materials of membrane structures. PTEF is the abbreviation of Poly-tetra Fluotide-ethylene. These materials are consisted of fiberglass weave and polyetrfluoroethylene coating. Also, PTEF membranes have some problems of structural capacity by wind or snow load, etc. In this study, sensor housings using lead switches are bonding in PTFE membranes, Monitoring to changes tension and tear damages are studied using radio frequency. If tension is received on edged membranes, bonded lead switches of sensor housings will be destroyed by changes tension, and these become to send signals of damages at the connected radio frequency system with increased tension. Study of these functional membrane materials will be contributed to prevent water leakage and long-term maintenance of membrane structures.

특정 신문은 해당 도메인의 언어자원을 구축하는데 필요한 자원이며, 한글과 영어의 괄호를 통해 표현되는 대역어구는 다국어 정보로 언어자원 구축에 이용된다. 그러나, 실제로 신문에서 사용되는 한영대역어의 구성은 한글대역어와 영어약어로 구성된 비율이 80%이상을 보인다. 신문을 대상으로 대역어사전 등을 구축하기 위해서는, 영어양어의 완전한 형태인 영어비약어 정보가 필요하다. 본 논문은 영어비약어 정보를 획득하기 웹검색을 통해 영어비약어를 획득하고, 영어약어를 이용해 영어약어와 영어비약어의 관계를 이용하는 방법을 제안한다.

The occurrence of HHS was confirmed for the first time in Korea from chickens submitted for diagnosis to our laboratory from broiler and baeksemi farms. Clinical signs included depression, inappetence, ruffled feathers and a increase in mortality. At necropsy, severe hydropericardium and hepatic necrosis was founded characteristically and the most remarkable microscopic changes were seen in the liver. These included basophilic intranuclear inclusion bodies in the hepatocytes, massive hemorrhages and necrosis in the liver parenchyma. We could also identify fowl adeno-virus(FAV) by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and electro-microscopic confirmation. Abbreviation: HHS=hydropericardium hepatitis syndrome, EM=electron microscopy, FAV=fowl adenovirus, PCR=polymerase chain reaction.

The author has been teaching with an instructional module consisting of many mathematical concepts, based on designs formed by personal names or words to arouse students' interesting in learning mathematics. This module has been growing since it was first used as a supplementary lesson for calculus students. Now it consists of concepts that connect with mathematical topics such as number sense, algebraic thinking, geometry, and statistical reasoning, as well as other subjects such as art and quilt design. With its content we can provide our students the basic mathematical knowledge needed for further study in their own fields. In this article, we will demonstrate the latest development of this instructional module, which makes connections between mathematical knowledge and the design of personal quilt patterns. We will exhibit a 'Quilt of Nations' which consists of the designed quilt blocks of different countries, such as USA, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and others, as well as a quilt design using the abbreviation of this seminar. Then we will talk about how the connections are built, and how to design these mathematically rich, uniquely created, beautifully designed, and personalized quilt block patterns.

To analyze the settlement characteristics of short-fiber reinforced soil(SFRS), which will be used as a new backfill material of reinforced retaining wall, under simulated railroad loading, a series of tests with loading condition of 5 Hz frequency and 500,000 cycles were performed. The materials used for tests are soils with SM or ML type, and polypropylene short-fibers with mono-filament(PPM) or fibrillated type(PPF). From the tests, average plastic settlement is low at PPF38(0.3%)(abbreviation of PPF with 38mm length and mixing ratio 0.3%), PPF38(0.5%), PPM60(0.2%) for SFRS using SM soil and at PPF38(0.3%), PPF60(0.2%) for SFRS using ML soil. Elastic settlement is low at PPM60(0.2%) for SFRS using SM soil and at PPM60(0.5%) for SFRS using ML soil.

본 논문은 문화콘텐츠의 영향을 받아 생긴 신조 중국어를 고찰하여 분석한 것이다. 한국 문화 산업이 크게 발달하면서 세계 곳곳에 한류 열풍을 일으켰다. 이를 통해 많은 한국어 단어, 신조 중국어, 그리고 문화에 대한 새로운 의식과 개념이 중국으로 들어오기 시작했다. 그중에서 한류 콘텐츠로 인해 중국 인터넷에서 나타난 신조어가 적지 않다. 신조 중국어는 한류 팬과 한국어 학습자가 많아지면서 폭넓게 사용하는 추세를 보인다. 한류 콘텐츠 영향의 중국 신조 중국어는 중국 신조 중국어의 중요한 부분이라고 여긴다. 이를 정확하게 인식하고 이해하기 위하여 먼저 중국 신조 중국어 구성방식의 6가지 분류, 즉 비유적 의미, 대치, 외래어 차용, 축약, 합성, 파생을 지적하였다. 이러한 구성방식은 한류 콘텐츠 영향의 중국 인터넷 단어에도 그대로 작용하여 3가지 한류 신조 중국어, 즉 한자로 표시하는 신조어, 알파벳으로 표시하는 신조어, 의미 확장, 그리고 새로운 의미의 획득을 통한 신조어로 분석하여 제시하였다. 그리고 그 생성 원인과 전망을 분석하였다. 그리고 각 분류에 따라 구체적인 뉴스 제목이나 노래 등을 실례로 들어 한류 콘텐츠 영향의 중국 신조 중국어의 현상을 확인하였다. 이러한 신조 중국어가 중국 어휘를 풍부하게 만들고, 소통을 순조롭게 하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.
