  • This paper will provide a basic analysis of traditional wedding artifacts as they appear on museum websites and their value for scientific research. The results of this study are as follows: 1. There were a total of 115 wedding artifacts(72 written documents related to weddings, 43 marital items) on the website of a museum. Most of them were related to the latter half of Cho-sun Dynasty. From these artifacts, we may understand the culture surrounding wedding during the transitional period from the Cho-sun Dynasty to modem time. 2. By analyzing such wedding artifacts, we can supplement existing methods of study such as literature research and case histories. In this way, we may better understand the history and culture of weddings. 3. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the culture of weddings we need to adopt a more interdisciplinary approach of wedding artifacts.

  • So far, the multiple path MINs to provide redundant paths in the traditional UPP MINs have been realized by adding additional hardware such as extra stages, duplicated data links, or multiple copies of sthe MIN. And the traditional MINs do not exploit locality: communication with all processor-memory paris takes the same amount of time. Also so far there has been little progress for exploiting locality of reference in MINs. In this paper, we present a new topology MIN, hybrid MIN that is constructed with 2N-3 SEs which is far fewer SEs than that of traditional MINs. Although the hybrid MIN is constructed with 2N-3 SEs, the hybrid MIN satisfies full access capability (FAC) and has redundant paths(but providing single path for 2 memory modules of each processor). Moreover the has redundant paths (but providing single path for 2 memory modules of each processor). Moreover the Hybrid MIN provides shortcut path between pairs which have frequent dat acommunication (locality of reference). Its performance under varing degrees of localized communication is analyzed.

  • There are many Korean traditional wooden structures that have resisted successfully over more than several hundred years. However, their structural behavior is not known in engineering context yet. It is then difficult to predict how they behave against various loadings if they face. This paper is to attempt to investigate structural performance of the wooden structures using fuzzy concepts rather than definitely defined engineering formula. The fuzzy synthetic theory to a scoring method enables us to draw a representative and comprehensive value from individual quantity.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate actual condition of the modern adaptation of interior elements (wall floor ceiling door & window) in traditional house. The examined objects were 316 pictures of residential interior spaces from the 5 different monthly magazines between Jan. 1993 to Dec. 1997 The results of this study were as follows; 1. Mostly they were either parital adaptation from the original or partially transformed adaptation rather than entire adaptation of the original 2. Of the traditional interior elements adapted in residential space only specific elements were being adapted. For example. partial adaptation from the original were oiled paper flooring(Jangpan) rice papered wall (Hanji) a ceiling finish that left the rafters and beams exposed (Yondunt-chonjang) and window or door frame which is vertical lattices accented with horizontal lattices grouped into three sections(Ttisal-mun)And partially transformed adaptation were wood flooring(Chang-maru) rice apered wall(Hanji) Yondung-chonjang wind or door frame of Wan character(Wanja-mum) 3. In regard to space the mostly adapted spaces were bedrooms rather than living or dining rooms.

  • Recently, many research groups have focused on GPGPUs in order to improve the performance of computing systems. GPGPUs can execute general-purpose applications as well as graphics applications by using parallel GPU hardware resources. GPGPUs can process thousands of threads based on warp scheduling and CTA scheduling. In this paper, we utilize the traditional CTA scheduler to assign a various number of CTAs to SMs. According to our simulation results, increasing the number of CTAs assigned to the SM statically does not improve the performance. To solve the problem in traditional CTA scheduling schemes, we propose a new IPC-based dynamic CTA scheduling scheme. Compared to traditional CTA scheduling schemes, the proposed dynamic CTA scheduling scheme can increase the GPU performance by up to 13.1%.

  • In recent years, information technological revolution of using Internet in the Stock Market has shown reconsideration of Securities and Exchange Law. Since the 1998 Taipei Conference, ILA have studied upon it and presented 6th Interim Report during the 2000 London Conference. This paper summarizes a part of the 6th Interim Report. The Internet has created a medium to which traditional principles of jurisdiction may not have full relevance. To understand the jurisdictional issues posed by this new medium, we should first review the traditional principles of jurisdiction under international, U. S. law and Other Countries law. In previous reports, the general principles of jurisdiction in international law have been described. These principles are, however, difficult to apply in the context of Internet and other forms of computerized securities trading. Regulators all over the world are trying to address and solve jurisdictional issues raised by the Internet. The traditional rules of jurisdiction in international law, grounded as they are on a geography-based approach, may be in the process of being undermined by the Internet and other global networks allowing for remote access to information and to markets.

  • One of the benefits of the internet-assisted instruction is that it can improve L2 Learners' motivation to express themselves in English. The purpose of this paper is to investigate an effective approach to British-American fiction learning in Korean universities, which can emphasize communicative strategies drawing on video-conferencing system, a chat system(CUSeeMe), and an e-mail system. Students are passive participants who cannot assert their creativity in the traditional teaching method of British-American fiction, which mainly relies upon reading and translation far from literature lessons. In CCDL(Cross-cultural distance learning) class, students can play active roles in asserting their own ideas and assuming considerable responsibility for making a presentation in English. A professor can play a role as a coordinator in supporting the students' activities and in winding up the class. The main significance of this article lies in providing a paradigm for CCDL class beyond the limitation of the traditional teaching method of British-American fiction in Korea and futhermore in exploring the eclectic integration of the traditional one and CCDL.

  • This paper is a study that considers how current scientific medicine could be supported by traditional medicine, and if the scope of this support is expected to gradually widen. This study begins by understanding the process by which Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has developed interventions for COVID-19. We then examine what support is offered by the ancient Korean medical text "Uibang Yuchi". This paper insists that a key database is absolutely necessary to develop treatment techniques for new diseases. The key database should be considered not only from the point of view of knowledge but also from the point of view of intellectual property rights, and for this reason, the text of "Uibang Yuchi" is important. This paper shows the process of how a new treatment technique can be derived from the ancient book "Uibang Yuchi". We expect that the suggested model would play a role as a reference model in the process of pursuing similar strategies in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to categorize the lotus patterns of traditional Korean fabrics. This study collected 169 fabrics of Korean lotus flower patterns and then made a list of era, configuration of pattern, type of artifact, findspot and holding institutions. It analyzes the characteristics of 251 kinds of lotus woven on 169 Korean fabrics, 251 kinds of lotus on 169 fabrics divided into Realistic Type, Design Type, and Abstract Type. They consist of 213 kinds of Design Type(84.8%), 21 kinds of Realistic Type(8.4%), and 17 kinds of Abstract Type(6.8%). The largest part of lotus patterns is Design Type. Design Types are subdivided into 14 types. This result contrasted with the conclusion of the research paper about peony patterns in Traditional Korean Textiles. The largest part of peony patterns was Realistic Types. Realistic Types of lotus patterns in Korean textiles are subdivided into 6 types. Korea has more diverse forms and a higher ratio of Realistic Types than China and this can be interpreted to reflect that there is a tendency in Korea to prefer natural patterns. Besides abstract Types are subdivided into 3 types. When the lotus flower patterns of Korea and China are categorized and similar types are compared, there are some unique patterns that appear only in Korea or China. Not only that, similar types display differences in pattern arrangement methods and portrayal among the two countries. If such study results are utilized, they can be grounds for distinguishing the production area of lotus flower textile fabrics when they are newly excavated in the future.

  • Hanjisa(Korean paper yarn), a new material made from the traditional Korean paper, has been developed through local R&D efforts, reflecting the current trend highly valuing environmental friendly. This new material is considered suitable for the 21C lifestyle and culture pursuing improved quality of human life and the environment. Therefore, this study aims to widely make known the originality and functions of the environmentally friendly Korean paper yarn, as well as to increase its commercial value. Furthermore, a new category of apparel design is presented by studying painting dyeing based on transformational tuck techniques and wax resist dyeing with formative features of repeated lines and rhythms of shells in order to implement three-dimensional and decorative artistic expressions. The texture of the Korean cotton paper yarn was particularly suitable to employ tuck and dyeing techniques Which express formative features of shell. Also, the material was useful for expressing the three-dimensional feelings with repeated curves and cross sections of shells. Moreover, paraffin resist dyeing and stitch techniques were used in order to avoid monotony and the images of shells visually materialized. Through the results stated above, this study could explore how to overcome obstacles to globalization of the Korean modern apparel such as its uniqueness, limit of materials or absense of internationality by applying modern design to the Korean paper fabrics. In the future, it is expected that more manufactures could produce and supply the new materials so as to make widely known the originality of the Korean paper fabrics and develop the material into a popular organic product fitting the modern lifestyle.
